in my mind, this serie contains only the 4 first seasons. the great 1rst for the Boone & Market partnership, the 4th for the good plots...i was so much laughing and getting disgusted at the same time by the episodes of 5th that i never finish the last season...

the selfish, fascist & clever Sandoval was my favorite character, definitely.

To reiterate the first four season where actually not the "final conflict" but the "semi final" conflict as a "more aggressive being" where waiting in the wings. lucky it didn't continue with an even more dastardly alien species - who where stuck in a Pub just outside of the Milky way (the Milky way bar perhaps) suddenly appeared. the first four seasons would then have been the Quarter Final Conflict!!! :-)

I just watched all the intros from 1-5, they were all about taelons and their mystery and are they here for good or what. And then season 5 comes in with oh we defeated the taelons but now the producers want another season so umm here's some other bad aliens oh help us let's go get ridley from aliens.

No way? I loved some of the effects in that series, and a lot of the ideas. The shuttles (they look a bit like beetles!) jumping into ID always looked great and the mothership is just gorgeous. It really looks a bit like a living creature; like some deep sea lifeform.

ask away. It was one of the first series shot and edited at 23.976 on Sony HDcam. It was previously shot on film. I did all my fx and compositing on Avid Symphony, Digital Fusion and After Effects. Laser fights were done with Knoll Lens flare plugins AVX on Symphony. I actually compiled all the effects work on Digital Betacam for my reel about 9 years ago. Ever since then worked on dozens of other series.

Reading the post I get depressed. I found only 12 episodes of the S5, the rest cannot be found so far. But watching S1-4 I had a hope that everything will be okay, that jaridians and taelons would unite and will live in peace with humans. But as I see, I am deeply mistaken....

What happened was the 2 species re-merged back into their ancestral form called the Atavus. instead of bringing peace the Atavus offered nothing but extinction as they were even worse than the the Jaridians and Talons combined.

Though I never saw all 5 seasons but Von Flores character was fun since we thought he was a hero and soon showed that he was the devious lacky that he is!

The Atavus where so unoriginal and weak as villains. They looked like cheesy Wolverines! I wish production just got their acts straighten out via stories and keeping original cast and maybe the series alone would have been a great mildstone!

i have mixed feelings about season 5. season 1 was excellent, then watching 2-4 was like watching a train wreck but no one ever came to clean up. season 5 was a chance to start over and boy did they start over. it had alot of promising plots. howlyn's obsession with renee, sandoval and juda's mutual interest, and even the return of boone. but yeah, it was terrible. even thought S5 was crap, for some reason though, i rather enjoyed watching season 5 at 2 AM every week.

Season five pretty much became a whole new show. All of the actors from the previous seasons were gone except the Asian guy. I kinda lost interest after season four.

I watched the entire series and they did get sloppy towards the end. However, the finale was GREAT! Esp. at the end, where Renee had to decide to save the ship before blowing up the other one in the cave. She was given the chance to go beyond Earth and bring back information to help us understand the universe. The Taelon told her her decision to go or stay was her own 'final conflict'. A good series! Liam was cool!

I see a lot of comments say only the first 2 seasons were worth watching but season 3 & 4 were great even though I hated the fact that they replaced augur with J. street and I don't know what the hell they were thinking with season 5 I have it on DVD but can never bring myself to finish watching it, I'm sorry but renee was good as a co-star but not the lead and the story was garbage should have ended at season 4

2-4 was my favourite yes. But 5 was better than 1 to me because of Street, she was my favourite character. Augur was too 'hip', well, okay, Street had different hair in every episode but I liked the character more, she was more insecure. I also liked Liam better with the Shaqaravah.

But lot's of the 'mystical species' complexity was gone in 5 yes, but it wasn't really there in 1 either. And we got to see Zo'or have sex in the cowgirl position and then kill her mate, we all wanted that.

Gene Roddenberry wrote this main storyline (concept) in the 70's before turning to making movies. His wife found the stuff for this and "Andromeda" while sifting thru his stuff. Augur was cool! Always into all sorts of ventures!

In the US, or Region 1, only seasons 3-5 are on DVD. I have all three of those sets. News is seasons one and two are coming July 15, but that's tentative.
