Great drills...one question I have though...when teaching Novice, Atom and peewee aged kids...should I have them in more a hockey posture? Knees bent, leaning forward ...etc? I notice your legs are staight when doing these drills...is that for a reason? Again...great drills and thanks for posting!
Quick question. Where do you cut your stick; or how high does it go when you stand it straight while wearing skates? and what height of stick do you recommend?
Great stuff. If you want to be a great stick handler it's essential that you are able to control the puck efficiently from all positions. I'm a goaltender, but when I'm not playing. I usually practice stick handling at least 20 minutes a day in my free time so I can be as equally good at playing the puck as stopping it. But even the best players will tell you that no matter how good you are, it still all comes back down to the basics.
I would definitely use a ball or a golf ball if you have those floating around the garage. A puck will stand on end and roll because it will stick to the surface. If you have some extra money in your pocket check out the green biscuit which is a puck that slides or the Swedish stickhandling balls.
hey.. you are only rolling ur top hands wrists i was wondering if its a habit of urs or that is the way to stickhandle. i was thinking that it was the correct way to stickhandle cuz then ur lower hand is ready to take a shot or pass. am i right?
No I didn't mean to that. In fact I was trying to stress an exaggerated rolling over of both hands to really get a feel for the puck/ball. This will help get you to cup the puck. On the ice it probably will never happen that way though. When you take a shot you're really snapping the wrist a the release point and pointing the toe of the blade to the target. To a lesser degree you're doing the same thing with a pass. When practicing try to roll both hands over. Hope this helps.
@outcasts89 Ha. Thanks. I wanted to get away from the Johnny Cash uniform that I was sporting in the prior videos. (Even though it hides the weight.) So I had some shirts made that reminded me of growing up playing all day on the pond. They're available on the website.
great video definalitly will add this to my routine

@tylerdurdonxx Very true. Couldn't have said it better myself. Nice work as a goaltender.

In terms of practicing stickhandling at home, is it more advantageous to practice with a regular ball or a puck?

@skateforlife244 This is fake ice made by Kwik Ice. It's filmed at a hockey training center in Santa Ana, CA called Athletic Republic.
