  • dude.. I left a tub of nasty margarine opened and realized that even ants, the cleaners of this earth, do not touch that stuff... that's how bad it is! EWW. I'm so eating butter!

  • Being skinny because you eat healthy doesnt matter. you're skinny in a way that u are healthy.being skinny when you're healthy dont kill you. most people become fat or overweight because of the junks added to their food. eating instant cup noodles have alot of preservatives that your body cant absorb and in the end, your body becomes fat.Eat things that doesnt have extra ingredients that didnt even need to be in it. and you'll be healthy =)

  • yeah i dont really like the taste of butter spreads etc. i prefer original butter.they taste much much better then spreads. butter spreads have alot of extra ingredients that your body doesnt even need. those extra stuff just pass out from the other side of your body.

so basically your body doesnt absorb any other nutrients from the butter spread.dont waste money on em. eat the real deal =))

  • I'm a new fan yours Keith and am a novice cook at best..... I've been guilty of using the supposedly healthier light spreads.....they're just not the same as real butter in flavor....Like many, I've been afraid of butter because of weight gain, cholesterol etc.....but then look at the French! I guess moderation must be the key. Can't wait to get your new cookbook. Thanks for sharing.

  • i'm kind of fascinated what kind of weird "food" they sell you in the united states o.o

liquid smoke, artificial replacements for butter and whipped cream and so on.

though i'm naturally curious, there are things I dont even want to see nor taste o.o

  • Thank you for saying this. Cooking with those spreads just don't have the same taste as butter. (especiallly baking) I'm switching back to butter and just moderate how much I eat of it. Thanks Chef!!

  • anytime..thanks for watching

    Keith

  • You are totally right!!

  • Thank you for stating just what my Grandmother had always taught. "All good things in moderation- even moderation." We were raised on WHOLE REAL milk right from the cow, (shake or you get a mouth full of cream!) eggs from chickens that ran around on the GROUND, real BUTTER, and continue to eat this way as much as possible. All three of us kids are skinny, healthy, active, and in no need of medications, many years later... Hmmmm

Loving the cook book by the way- Mexican Roast today.

  • ya..we consume tons of cream, butter, creamy whole milk, full fat yogurt etc.. we are all in good shape especially the ladies...

Grandma was on to something...my goal is to make more people go back to the old way...and ditch the new way

    Keith

glad the book is being used! it really is a great book as it has so many recipes for so many things...

  • As a diabetic liver transplant paitent I'm at high risk for heart disease, despite being in the lower range of the healthy bmi scale. I would rather use the spread than consume extra cholesterol and trans fats in my baking and cooking, and furthermore the spread DOES work well for those purposes. I believe I even have the same one you've got there in the video.

For some people, butter is NOT the healthier choice.

  • totally understand...and yes..for a special need like you have, following doctors advice and watching the diet is key..you're well educated..most people who use these are just not educated to their contents and have NO specific reason for using them like you..

    thanks for the comment!

  • I'm lactose intolerant. I can't tell the difference when baking or spreading the real stuff vs the other stuff. I can tell you my body is happier using the other stuff.

  • like I said...in that case I understand...getting a belly ache and worse..is no fun.

    Keith

  • I butter my Lipitor, goes down easier.

  • hah...good one man

    keith

  • you obviously know what you are talking about, but as i said before some people just cant afford to be picky at these times

  • the cost of real butter, even the national brands is in line with phony spread...go to the store....

    Keith

  • One doesn't have to buy the spread. And the cost of a stick of butter alternative is only a fraction of the cost of a stick of butter. This cost is a luxury that some people can't live with.

  • I've just bought some 100% butter, which spreads straight from the fridge. Nothing extra added and it tastes delicious. Like Keith says, just use sparingly and it's fine.

I've really started looking at the rubbish in many products on the shelves. I even avoided buying some chewing gum earlier, because I couldn't find a brand that didn't contain aspartame, which I'm not too sure of.

  • also, with gum, one of the hidden ingredients is BHT the preservative found in cheap bacon and sausage...

so our children are getting a dose of preservatives even in gum! Long term studies have proven a link between preservatives an ADHD

I plan to continue exposing products on these airwaves while teaching better methods to people

    Keith

  • Five Stars!!

  • thanks

  • only reason i use the non dairy stuff because my daughter. i always keep butter on hand for baking with but other then cooking it doesn't get used as much as i would like any more. other then for those that can't have dairy there is no reason not to use butter.

  • Sometimes the only reason people buy that stuff is because it spreads easy. That effect can be done with butter whipped with sour cream

  • never tried that...will do it..sounds incredible

  • I never believed in non-fat, less-calories, whatever-substitutes. If you are going to treat yourself with good food then the real thing is the way to go! Of course, moderation is the key. Butter leaves a better aftertaste, and smell.

  • I will not eat animal products as long as mankind mistreats those creatures that will serve them in exchange for love, food and security.

  • I understand and completely respect that opinion, just because I did not mention being vegan or vegetarian as reasons TO EAT fake butter does not mean I don't respect the opinion or meant any offense. I eat plenty of vegan dishes and offer many, many recipes for them in my book and on our website. I do feel that these products are not healthy, of course the companies will disagree which is fine.

    Keith

  • Thanks for responding... I love your video picking apples in North Carolina...Thanks againg

  • thanks for watching! I need to make another trip for more of those apples as we have only 3 left...

    best,

    keith

  • factory farming needs to be burned in hell! That is why i look for butter from organic farms.

  • Imagine! Now you can eat 250 slices of bread each day without gaining weight! ;) lol!

  • right.....and no trans fat!
