And this may very well be John Williams’ worst major score. Sappy melodramatic score for a sappy, condescending, ham-handed melodramatic piece of shit movie. Just watched a film by Costa-Gavras called “Amen.” Infinitely better in every way.
Its sad, only in the darkest hours of Humanity do we rise to be seen as human in fear, not of being inhuman, but for fear of others inhumanity towards us.
Very moving soundtrack. It was a very sad chapter in human history and I don't know what I find more tragic...the people who refuse to admit that the death camps actually happened, or the people who are oblivious to the fact that they actually happened. Either way, if we forget our past, we are facing a doomed future. "The easiest way for evil to prevail is for good men to do nothing..."
@TheUltimateCondom Yea, Gothe was arrested by the SS for stealing property of the Jews, beating and killing them as well. Yet you wont find it in this movie nor will you read about it in the Holocaust books either!
@EdwardTheGray how does that make the movie a piece of garbage though. im pretty sure they portrayed Goth as enough of a scumbag really. its a great film, in my opinion anyways.
@TheUltimateCondom Because of the anti German agenda that it depicts. First of all, Gothe could not have shot people from his balcony because of the fact that his villa was way back away from the camp and there was a hill in front of his villa. The movie plays on the emotions. I suggest that you look up "the last days of the big lie" to understand where I am coming from. It shows how spielberg is unaware of people who lied in his documentary.
@EdwardTheGray i understand where you're coming from. i'll take your word for it, the film probobly is a load of bullshit, like alot of true movies, ... i guess you could call it 'true fiction' really, i still find it to be a great bit of cinema, maybe not so great a history teacher... but remember, the film isnt without good portrayal of germans and members of the nazi party, the title character for example was a great german.
@TheUltimateCondom I understand where you are coming from, but the point is that people are shown this and his documentary and they are not aware that the people in the films are lying. For example, Spielberg deliberately left out the fact that Gothe was arrested for beating, killing, and stealing property. Also, you should def go watch "the last days of the big lie" by eric hunt, that video shows a lot of stuff that spielberg refuses to show us.
The music makes me think of the part in the movie where Mr. Schindler was crying because he couldn't save more people, it was a very sad part of the movie for me, who wouldn't cry watching this movie?
While beautiful, this music always makes me feel so worthless. As in what have I done to deserve life next to any number of people who have done great things. Yay depression
no matter how many time i hear this, or how long it's been between revisiting it... this piece has always, and will always bring tears to my eyes. It's a bittersweet feeling listening to such beautiful music, and knowing that they joy it brings is overshadowed by the memories of the tragedy it commemorates. Let us never forget, but also allow such beauty as this too move us past grief and past hatred.
@99FeeBee99 its bout da nazzi party but like da main character saves 1,100 jews and in da end da war ends so da guy needs to leave and da jews write a note wer it says Schindler took caer of them
@Asyamanya The Russians lost more people but they were not tortured the way the Jews were. Many of them were tortured all the way through the holocaust and all their family and friends were killed which I think would be much worse than dying. Also, they don't try to make anyone feel guilty. It's just a horrible circumstance that we don't want to have happen again because history tends to repeat itself so we are taught about it to make sure everyone understands how terrible it was.
We will never learn. The only time I see human beings putting our small differences aside and coming together are if little aliens come down and threaten humans and the planet. I cant see this happening. Or if the planet is threatened by a massive asteroid and we only have days to live. This could happen. Or if we are threatened by a disease like bird or swine flu that kills millions of people, and doesnt discriminate agains rich or poor, black or white, young or old, Christian Jew Muslim...
This madness is returning to Norway under present primer Stoltenberg and his anti-Israeli fanatics (esp Kristin Halvorsen) - and he had his grandfather nearly annihilated in one of the Madman's Death Camps!

no offense to people who play other instruments, this is just my opinion, but i think that the violin is the most beautiful musical instrument. nothing else can touch me the way a violin can. piano cant have a sweet tremor, the clarinet's range, though it is very wide, doesnt sound dramatic. the saxaphone (though i love the saxaphone) can never be as haunting. <3<3<3
If you like this music, maybe you will like the soundtrack to the movie Defiance too. Try look up 'Defiance soundtrack the wedding' and see what you think.

Wish I played the violin.. Well.. I got to keep to the piano version, then..
