I can never ever in a million years ever be able to get enough of this which is probably a bad thing because I might get deaf from over exposure to pure AWESOMENESS. Haha. Hmm...maybe it's not entirely a bad thing. Atleast, people will know I lost my hearing listening to the good stuff. =)
i don't know what u're saying about "Cure-wannabe vibes", i just know that this song feels like a cure itself to me (*presses 'replay' button ------> *wants to be cured ) because it simply brings u "higher than the stars".
You can hear fucking anything in music. You could call these guys JAMC influenced, Belle and Sebastian copiers, the Cure wannabies or Yo La Tengo imitators, but in reality, they're just a bloody good band with influences EVERYWHERE. Someone's gotta carry on the indie pop tradition, and yeah it's fun talking about what stuff sounds like, but "wannabe" or "copy" are uneccessary words.
Influences are heard EVERYWHERE in music, it has always been this way. I love The Cure, and this song strums a certain nostalgia within but with it's definitely got it's own brand of magic going on and after all, isn't that what we seek when we listen to music?
cure wannabees?? GET REAL... no comparison... what a shite thing to say...this is pure magic on its own... dont taint it with your stupid reasoning....
It is beautiful sounding- the leader singer Kip, has such a dreamy and innocent sounding voice. It's the kind of song you can have playing forver in the background of your life. I feel like I hear a bit of "the cure" in the background- from "just like heaven" the sounds of the guitar....?? love them, tho! both! lol
@Rainydaytoober haha. that's so ironic you said this, because I posted the same observation about a week ago without seeing your comment. I still like it tho.
actually i think that keyboard sounds alot like "just like heaven" by the cure (almost same notes, different rythm). alot of their songs sound suspiciously like other songs, but oh well i still think they're pretty cool.
Doesn't anyone think they're a total rip off of Sarah Records bands? Just listen to the Field Mice ... same sound, just 20 years earlier.

love this band, and yeah they give off a few cure vibes here and there, but in my opinion they still stand pretty well on their own.

I wouldn't call this Indie pop or C86. I'd call it Dream Pop. Or Neo-Psychedelia.
