i've never been to bondi beach, i've only ever been to remote beaches where there are no life savers. if i ever heard a shark alarm, i would SHIT myself.
I lived in Tamarama/Bondi, and when you're on the beach and all of a sudden the lifeguards go out in a boat or jet ski and start doing doughnuts around something its usually a shark. A chopper will arrive about 10 minutes later but you know it's time to go sit on the beach for a few minutes.
omg i went to australia when it was being filmed at i go on once but only because i fell over a snapped by knee bone and i was only on for a flash second when they talk back about all the stuff that happened during the year :D
i visited bondi beach few years back, and boy, i just couldnt stand of its terrible smell. its so polluted and toxic. dont they have environmental agency or laws? now, if i want to surf, i'd go to florida or california, the best in the world.
@Tennessee44444 Mate i go Bondi every single day, and i have been for a long time. It has never smelled once. The nearby sewage pipes are underground and extend well over a kilometer out to sea. How far back did you visit?
I saw a shark once at Bondi. It was about 15 years ago. I was paddling on a cool-lite at North end when it swam right underneath me. It was definitely a shark coz its fins were unmistakable. It was so close I could have jumped off and grabbed it! Oh, except did I mention that it was 3 feet long.... pffahahaha. Just a baby.
@simlishcr0ft Well, from what i have heard, those aren`t really shark nets at all. Just a physical deterrent without any form of real borders the sharks and what not will have no problems crossing at their own leisures..
@simlishcr0ft I think the "shark-nets" at this particular beach are submerged net`s that are designed as shark nets, but they don`t really use them to their "foul" potential. Just as a physical barrier that the shark`s and the like`s thereof may notice, and try to avoid..i think?! Don`t you watch Bondi ;-) I am from Scandinavia, and we don`t get too much quality time our beaches. Too cold. I know i would never have entered the water where i knew sharks roamed. I have too much to live for ;-)
@mybluebelly im sure sharks dont swim and see them and say "HOLY SHIT A NET!! SWIM AWAAAAAY" for some reason, sharks like to tangle them selves in this net. Im sure the nets that are above water are not for show..do you mean the shark nets are not very usefull? haha im confused by ur statement
@simlishcr0ft I`m pretty sure the general idea here is to have an obstacle in the way of sharks cruising towards the beach, and somehow hope that they will just cruise on by and be on their merry way. So no..i would not consider these net`s a good safety precaution in preventing sharks from coming in close to the shores of Bondi beach. They are just for show i think.. When i think of a shark net, i think of a net that is physically denying the shark passage to the other side of the net.
OMG i would get panic if i would be swimming there and shark alarm sounds =O
and what? oh boy they really trust in the lifeguards - ok its good that lifeguards have a look at sharks but i would never get back in there if recently//before shark alarm sounds xDD
AHAHAHAHAHAH FUCKING STUPID IDIOTS, ANYONE WHO LIKES THIS VIDEO OVIOUSLY LOVES ADRENALINE RUSHES. They hate human flesh. They prefer seals, turtles and fish. In fact the only reason they attack humans are because they mistake them for the animals listed.
I was spearfishing with my mates when the chopper flew over right above us then sounded the alarm when we were a 1km we swam back. Later on the news it said two great whites were spotted 200m from divers.... :S
ME and my friends were out surfing late and my friends dad is the club president so he owns the lifesaving club and when he wanted us to go in he sou8nded the alarm and i shat myself and panicked so i caught a wave and fell off in a bunch of seaweed and it was the scariest thing of my life.
well...i just came back from sharks cove (oahu, hawaii) and I saw a few sharks while surfing, hammerheads as a matter of fact, they're there everyday. thing is...sharks rarely bite humans, and even when they do bit, its very unlikely that they take much away with them. For example, when my uncle was bitten, all he lost was a little piece of his foot, which grew back in a few weeks. He didn't even stop surfing that day. But then again....we are a little crazy when it comes to surfing in hawaii...
@xbemineforever why would we need shark alarms when the closest sharks are like 5000km south from here? Here in Finland polar bear warnings would be better, even though here are none of them and it's +30C right now
Lol Yeah I Know Haha .. I Always Wanted To Go There.. My Comment That Said "Wanna Go To Ireland So I Can Go There" Was A Reply To Someone Who Lived In Sydney So I Meant Do You Want To Come To Ireland (Where I Live) And Swap Houses With Me So I Can Go There... Lmao
