@LFWOL I think a few of these videos were uploaded with the wrong title.. It also would've been nice to have part 1, part 2, etc in the title.. Great info but a pain to navigate thru.
As much time as I spend learning to play, there's not enough time in life to buld a quality instrument. Not to mention you should understand the physics of resonance. I built a body in 1982. it took weeks just to shape the mahogany. Never finished it.
You are never going to learn how to do something by not doing it; don't listen to those other people. Your first one should be made out of cheap wood, say pine or something else. Practice on that until you feel comfortable enough to use more expensive wood. You don't want the pressure of using expensive wood right off the bat. Practice first, good luck!
Just Plain A Bad Idea To Do On Your Own. I Recommend Getting A Family Member With Some Wood-Working Experience To Supervise You. Otherwise, First Invest Some Time In Messing Around With Cheap Leftover Wood. I Suggest Getting Some Practice Before Trying To Make A Guitar From Scratch.
first practice, make a chair for starters, and then go to the guitar, i also want to do one but i think i would modernize my present one, paint the body or make a new one.
I'm doing this right now, if you have experience with wood it definitely helps, but really all you have to be able to do is work precisely and follow instructions well (assuming you're going from plans, which I suggest you should because you could get all sorts of things wrong like the neck pitch [if you need it] or the scale length if you don't work from plans)
hi i have a musicman stingray bass that hass has no dot inlays on the neck. i want them added is that a tough job? and who do you recommend to do the job ernie ball?
Stewart MacDonald has a selection of pre-cut dots and bits that drill the correct size hole to just glue them in. They are on the web. It is a 10 minute job.
stewart macdonald kicks ass, they have absoluty everything you need to make your own guitar. a little on the expensive side but al around a great site and good video. i am in th middle of a build so all the help i can get is muchly appreciated.
oh okay thanx, i figured it was something like that, cause I think that I am going to need to buy a new neck cause the one on my dean V is straight up like coming off haha, yeah ill definetly check that out when you have it up
