I watched this AMV and felt the pain of a thousand needles pricking my heart. I mean, it's very painful for Ai. Lets take a look at the current situation in DC. Ran, yes,yes , she's got to wait, wait, wait and wait forever but that's just it. She's never admitted it (or when she did, she added 'just kidding' in ep 131 and movie 4) but I'm pretty sure she has feelings for him. Even Conan's mother told it, because she's always looking at him, and in an ep, she thought 'you really don't understand anything' about Conan. (Isn't that clear ?! T_T) There's also a lot of other prooves about her, just read the manga. x3

I don't think that Shinichi and Ran being in love is such a bad thing, considering it's what the show is leaning towards, but you're right. I don't think Ran could understand the complexity of the situation. Imagine what will happen when she finds out he's been lying. He loves her, but he looks like he's 7 and he's constantly protecting her, but all she ever thinks about is Shinichi with no thought to what Conan keeps going through. I think she's just in love with the thought of loving him.
