I think that comes down to who their slave masters were. The English and protestant slave masters of the U.S and english speaking caribbean were more anti-African culture compared to the Catholic French,Spanish and Portuguese slave masters. Also by them being catholic in Latin America it was easier to disguise the African spirits behind the catholic saints. You don't have these saints with protestantism. So catholicism was useful for preserving African religion.

in my opinion you have to belive in something... otherwise life wouldn't have sense or a reson and there is a reason for everything. there is a reason why we live. What could it be??? Thats alsso where i understood what am i dealing with.I've got in touch with them and I'm travelling back to Cuba again this year to the ceremony. I dont have a clue what will happen there but i belive that it is happening for a reason. its hard to explain what and how i feel. i just belive in it. They say that faith makes miracles happen... I could have got into loads of different troubles but somehow they always ended without any bigger consequences. That made me think and consider the influence of Santeria on my life... my financial sytuation became better, its a lot easier for me to go thrugh everyday life problems as somehow i know that they will be solved and there is no need to worry. After i met my people i have travelled to cuba... dnt know why i went there. i wanted to go away for New Years Eve. Thats where i met Santeria.
i survived a car crash at 80mph when my car was spinning around and i hit the barrier. ifff it happened a secend later or earlier i would end up crashing with full speed into trees which would surly result in heavy injuries or my death.And that is not the onlyecample of the strange things that happened to me since i met those people and i started to belive that what they do got influence on my whole life. Some people tried to kidnap me as well. They didint succeed however they came prepared.
a lot of things became easier for me. I was paying one person to help me slove my problems but i didnt really belived in it. even tho the man seemed to be so convinced and sure of what he was doing for me and he always kept saying to me that i should relax nd that all the problems will go away... For a while i though i even had more problems. but when i started thinking about them they seemed to end up a lot better then they could. Some could end up tragic, even with my death!
Since I got in touch with people that know a bit more about, my life has changed. My problems stopped to be big anymore and most of them find a solution in time. I'm a lot more calm and my thoughts are not in a mess as they used to be. In the beginning it was just my desperate move and i asked for help as i didnt know what to do and which way to go. my problems where bigger then i could ever imagine it. i didn't belive in the begining until i realised the changes that went on in my life.
and to get directions in your life. the only thin is to know how to comunicate. if people belive in lfe after death then there must be a reason for that as well... If there is a reason then there must be some form of comunication with the other spiritual world. there must be a bridge but you must know the way to it. i think that Santeria worshipers have the best knowledge about the way to communicate with the souls and the energy that went through life in the past and to read it.
Even if it does base on your own soul and brain it can teach you the way to solve problems and understand the world. I belive that every living thing has got that bit of God(Enegry of life and creation) and after death it comes back to the source and circulation of life. After death you dont feel pain. I also belive that you take a bit of what you been through in ur life with you so that u can share it with all other souls(enrgy). Thats the spiritual world that you can try to get knowledge from
Santeria religion seems to understand these things quite well. As far as I know it is based on balance with nature and listening to the souls of people that lived here before. The ways of worshiping God and the souls has been told for ages by word of mouth. It has never been written but it still exists in our world. Our world which became a mess through the last 2-300 years. I think its worth looking at and understanding. It could be a solution to our way of life, to bring balance in the world.

It is a very powerfull religion... I have experienced it myself. It's prayers and sacrifice seem to be noticed and listened to. It really does change your life.... If you truly belive than you can resolve a lot of life prooblems... Its based on exatly the same rules as christianity and other relighions, which are: life after death, worshiping souls of our ancestors, sacrifice of blood(wine),singing your prayers.

@Esuper1 YEAH AHHAHAH :p SANteria is not only practised in cuba also in panama Venezuela and my country colombia , yet in Colombia people were more repressed in the colonial time so there is less santeria than in cuba even though the black population in colombia is larger. @juanchissi Santeria, Voudu, Candomble among others are all variants of the same thing and derivation! And Panama and Colombia posess many similarties to and with each other being that Panama was always an integral part of the Colombian Republic until 1903 and 1904 respectively! :-)

He himself worshiped God making sacrifice of with blood and bread. People used to b e baptised in river. Many rituals in Santeria are connected with water and rivers. This faith makes sense and it really looks like many religions were based on it. That's why it got so easyly connected with christianity and muslims by force in past.

Exactly! Santeria is practiced all over the world but it is has different names! In Brazil it is Candomble! Go to Dominican Republic and you will find Palo! In PR they have it as well! In Trinidad and Tobago they have it! Vodou or Vodoo is in Haiti! IT is everywhere!

I think that comes down to who their slave masters were. The English and protestant slave masters of the U.S and english speaking caribbean were more anti-African culture compared to the Catholic French,Spanish and Portuguese slave masters. Also by them being catholic in Latin America it was easier to disguise the African spirits behind the catholic saints. You don't have these saints with protestantism. So catholicism was useful for preserving African religion.

I dont have a clue what will happen there but i belive that it is happening for a reason. its hard to explain what and how i feel. i just belive in it. They say that faith makes miracles happen... I could have got into loads of different troubles but somehow they always ended without any bigger consequences. That made me think and consider the influence of Santeria on my life... my financial sytuation became better, its a lot easier for me to go thrugh everyday life problems as somehow i know that they will be solved and there is no need to worry. After i met my people i have travelled to cuba... dnt know why i went there. i wanted to go away for New Years Eve. Thats where i met Santeria.

i survived a car crash at 80mph when my car was spinning around and i hit the barrier. ifff it happened a secend later or earlier i would end up crashing with full speed into trees which would surly result in heavy injuries or my death.And that is not the onlyecample of the strange things that happened to me since i met those people and i started to belive that what they do got influence on my whole life. Some people tried to kidnap me as well. They didint succeed however they came prepared.

Since I got in touch with people that know a bit more about, my life has changed. My problems stopped to be big anymore and most of them find a solution in time. I'm a lot more calm and my thoughts are not in a mess as they used to be. In the beginning it was just my desperate move and i asked for help as i didnt know what to do and which way to go. my problems where bigger then i could ever imagine it. i didn't belive in the begining until i realised the changes that went on in my life.

The ways of worshiping God and the souls has been told for ages by word of mouth. It has never been written but it still exists in our world. @Esuper1 YEAH AHHAHAH :p SANteria is not only practised in cuba also in panama Venezuela and my country colombia , yet in Colombia people were more repressed in the colonial time so there is less santeria than in cuba even though the black population in colombia is larger. ( lets do not forget about candomble in brasil)

while everyone has the right to choose what he/she will believe and adhere to, not all religions are "true" or "equal". it defies logic to believe so. if they all believe something in particular to the exclusion of the others, then it is impossible to be so ecumenical as the other poster would like to believe. not possible.

@billeagle51 I completly agree with you. Cathilic faith was changed so many times. I Mean the bible. Its not what it used to be and not precisely what Jesus said. He himself worshiped God making sacrifice of with blood and bread. People used to b e baptised in river. Many rituals in Santeria are connected with water and rivers. This faith makes sense and it really looks like many religions were based on it. That's why it got so easyly connected with christianity and muslims by force in past.

This faith is in life for thousands of years. Do you think it would last so long without any reasons? @billeagle51 ...instuctions how to worship the saints or God... its all beeing told and practised every day. there are books about this religion but noone really knows what is being said, sang or done during the ceremony. these facts and what i went through convince me about the sense of it. they say all human come from africa... i suppose all religion does as well... maybe adam and eve were black and africa was a paradise at a time... just dried up... Jesus didn't grow up far from there...

Thats because they dont see a reson as they pray withou any result... did anyone thought that they mught be worshipping their God not as he would want it? Maybe that has changed over the years with the bible.... besides how many people share one cup of wine and one peaco of bread....? if there is 200 or 300 people in church then how does it work out per person....?

Its beinig used to pay the priests rent, bills, food and leisure. i wont mention all the cars that prresent priests drive and women they sleep with.... how can this make our God happy? Its been something that created everything that was, is and will be. they say energy can create material matter out of nothing but energy. if you take a closer look you will realize that atoms are made of that energy#; protons, neutrons and electrons... if you look at it this way you will understand a lot more.... that energy keeps you togather in one peace... if it would go away, you would brake up and disappear...

I assume that after the paradise became hidden from people, things got really hard in africa... thats why pople started to worship the spirits as they had to strugle with life a lot more..thats why they stared to look for way of contac with the unmaterial world and ways to ask for help.paradise was ment to be a place where everything lived in harmony, before greed and sin was born.

Exactly! Santeria is practiced all over the world but it is has different names! In Brazil it is Candomble! Go to Dominican Republic and you will find Palo! In PR they have it as well! In Trinidad and Tobago they have it! Vodou or Vodoo is in Haiti! IT is everywhere!

LOL! No voudu or voodoo is SIMILAR and related to the Santeria religion! Haiti just gets a bad name for it, and NOT even all Haitians practice voudu! A minority of the Haitian population does it!
But there are similar religions for example Shango in Trinidad and Tobago, Candomble in Brazil and many others throughout the African Diaspora of Latin America and the Caribbean!

guys i think all religions are true and none is better than the other. Everybody have the riight in believe in whatever insprire them faith. I'm cuban and for what i know santeria and vodoo is not the same they come from the same roots but they are not practice in the same way but of course it comes from the same roots becuase they all born in africa. So i believe that everybody needs to respect the believes of the others and even if you do not agree don't insult others.
