We could be out the depression in a year or 3 by lowering taxes, cutting government and abolishing the minimum wage. Wages are prices and there is a surplus of workers in the US, lowering the price of labor (including taxes and unneeded regulation) would allow us to go back to work productively. The gov wants to stimulate, why not cut spending and give a tax decrease? That would surely stimulate the economy.

Everyone LOVES the idea of helping people less fortunate, taking care of the sick, providing a social safety net etc, etc. So then why are we so much poorer than ever before with more gov programs than ever before? The usa used to produce the best goods for the least money while paying workers the highest salaries in the world! Our efforts to help the poor has impoverished everyone, especially the poor.
