Thank you , I went on line to figure this out. Apparently it started in the early sixties to get out of English taxes or lesson them anyway. Brian Epstien was behind it and may have pioneered it at least in the music industry. It wound up belonging to a company by the name of AVI and MJ bought it in 83, outbiding Paul. The Beatles songs were only a part of it and any Harrison stuff from 68 on was not in there. Sony and AVI teamed up in the 90s so technically the MJ estate only owns half.

Also the publishing writes only gets half of the profits. The song writer gets the other half. So Paul and the Lennon estate have been getting half the whole time. Julian and his mom probably never got shit!

What in the hell are you doing watching this video if you "have no interest in him at all"? Yes, Paul screwed up by allowing Michael to buy the rights. However, Paul was a friend of his, made music with him, so I'm sure Paul knows a heck of a lot more than you do about the deal, and about Michael personally. Paul is never one to bitch about anything, he has a lot of class. This interview was quite good, Howard is a fan, and he has a way of getting people to talk.

When those songs were for sale Paul didn't want to pay the money. Michael Jackson was both able & willing so he did. That was business... good business. Paul could have easily afforded them but he's always been a bit, lets say, cheap. Paul had both the funds & the opportunity, but he passed. I'm not a big MJ fan but he's obviously a better business man. What a great thing it would have been to be able to pass those songs down to your grandchildren, & theirs etc...
