Omg...This song is so beautiful and this animation is completely gorgeous and their love is so pure HOW DARE DISNEY MAKE THAT PIECE OF GARBAGE THAT THEY CALL THE SEQUEL! It's nonexistent in my mind, I watched it twice, just twice and have never watched it again. It was horrible. Now...back to the song...So pretty, I wish it kept some of the old words though but I know with the translation it had to change.
"and what's the matter with the color of their skin?" gosh, I thought the English version was pretty, that just gives me chills every time -3 she's always been my favorite -3 Idc what anyone says, she's the strongest princess -333
In every language the translation is a little bit different, and everytime I see another one, Im am really touched! I want all translation, all songs, all meanings, and send them in the world.. make a new song, with all translations made 1 perfect song, who should change mankind!! Sorry for my english, Im only dutch.. Wich sons is very strong to, If you got the translation!
To clarify for anyone trying to learn french: 'Peux-tu peindre en mille couleurs L'Air du Vent' does not mean 'Can you paint in a thousand colors the song of the wind'.
It literally means 'Can you paint in a thousand colors the air of wind'. L'Air du Vent means wind, not song of the wind. Song of the wind would be Chanson de L'Air du Vent.
@queenieak What amazes me is that they have reinvent the song not only to the tune but also to the images and the motions of the mouth and still come out with a result that is possibly even more beatiful than the original
THANK YOU!! I am learning French and Disney songs help so much, reading the French lyrics vs the English ones and hearing the song at the same time is amazing.
Pour ma part, je préfère largement cette version à l'original... Peut-être par habitude. Je trouve la voix de Laura Mayne plus agréable à écouter et j'aime même l'impression qu'elle chante mieux ou au moins aussi bien. De plus, comme tu dis dans la description, elle a une voix un peu grave et ça, j'adhère ! Ca change un peu parce que d'habitude, les princesses Disney ont des voix aiguës. Pas que je m'en plaigne mais ça change, c'est tout.^^
I'm really annoyed that English became the second most spoken language in the world. - _- IT SOUNDS AWEFUL AND IS THE MOST IMPRACTICAL LANGUAGE ON THE FACE OF THIS PLANET!!! (Coming from a person who was born and raised in England as who has English ancestry) Honestly I had to use spell check for a lot of this! I can't even spell in my own language!!! That's how impractical it is!!!
@ridderres I sometimes speak french to my mum (not very well) to help with my french studies at school. My mum likes it because she can brush up on her french. Since my mum moved to England from Canada she sorta forgot a lot of it. I'm learning german at school too and I tried to learn a bit of Japanese but unfortunately I ran out of time. :) I'm only really fluent in English though. You?
@Bloodshotshatterbone I'm a native Dutch speaker. My English is about fluent, just as my German. I have been taught in Latin, so I can read the languages that came from Latin, but not speak or write them. And I have had some French but that is something that I can mostley read and have forgotten to speak and stuff. And some other little sentences and words in other languages. But I have to say that my preference probably lies with English (after Dutch).
@ridderres That's cool and impressive :) You're really lucky you had the opportunity to learn so much. In England we don't have all that even though we're part of the E.U. They cut a lot of the funding that goes into language learning and they only have stuff in English over here. No books in other languages, nothing. The only way I can find anything in other languages is by Youtube. Another problem is the attitude of ppl here. Ppl don't see the point in learning another language.
question: who did the english lyrics were from australia i have watched this movie 358000000 times and those are not the mofo lyrics but the french version is awesomesauce
The french version is beautiful. However the beauty of the song in English is lost in translation. In English the song is one of the most chillingly beautiful things I've ever heard.
actually "air" or "song" are both fitting, because there is a word game with "air", which can mean in french both a "tune" and the "air" ... so the translation is right too, depends on the way you understand it.
greeting from canada. i should know french (considering all my friends are fluent and french is canada's second language), but i didnt understand a word :P it is very beautiful though
Il n'y a rien à faire, quelle que soit la version que j'écoute, j'ai la chair de poule quand on arrive aux alentours de 2:30 . Simplement magnifique. (je préfère la version française, mais vu que je suis française et que j'ai grandi avec...)
There's nothing to do, whatever version I listen to, I get goosebumps when it gets around 2:30 . Just beautiful (I prefer this version, though, but I'm French so I can be considered rather biased, :P)
i think its rather : "can you paint in thousand colors the air of the wind ?" for " peux tu peindre en mille couleurs l'air du vent", than paint the song of the wind so the tune. As in french air can refer to a tune of music or sound or the air that we breathe. I don't know if i made myself clear my english needs more pratice. Anyway this song is awesome, the lyrics are perfect so is the voice of pocahontas
I think many (espeacially not german) ppl like the german version, cause its a poetic language. the whole song is full of rhymes in the the german version, but its a language with many hard sounding words. French is the absolutely opposite, cause its so flowing, soft and soundfull.
well and danish ... what should i say? for myself i like all the nordic languages ^^ so i have to like it :)
but after all u can see how 1 movie is connecting so many countries with same feeling :D
