My guess: Shop vac in reverse, spining of the yo-yo stablizes it while floating. You can see when he cuts with his hand under it 1:02 that it falls.

id say the root beer float is done by spinning the yo-yo so fast that it creates something like a cushion of air between it and the floor. that ways it will float.

If you take a simple 1" wide by 1/4" thick bar of aluminum and angle it as a ramp, a finger tip sized super magnet allowed to fall down the slope falls in a very controlled and slow motion manner. Aluminum is paramagnetic, having unpaired electrons which are not aligned except in the presence of a magnet. Rapidly spinning? It becomes highly influenced by strong magnets. And huge super magnets are available now, the size of a hockey puck or greater. Very dangerous.

hey guys do a pull start to people who have a g5 or an 888 more like the g5 tho you pull start keep it asulutly straight then throw it like you would a frisbe but just with alittle flick instead of a big throw and it will float because of the edge of it works like a frisbe and keeps the air compression in so it will float for abouat 10 seconds ive tried it works :D hope i helped
