  • Aimee, you know who we hate? Tori Amos, isn't she the worst??

I once wrote Tori Amos a letter.... AND SHE DIDN'T WRITE BACK!

  • I didn't even know they played this on Portlandia but it makes me happy that she's getting some silly exposure. Even for a 13-year-old song.

  • Sorry Aimee for ilegally downloading your last 4 Albums and burning Cds for all my friends. :-(

  • Just got two of her albums off of the android music store bc it just goes right back into her pocket. She's so good.

  • Actually Jane Austin Book Club brought me.

  • @ 4:20 - John C Reilly as the cop?

  • Aimee Mann makes life music.

  • the internet brought me here!

  • Portlandia brought me here because I've never heard this person before the show. I'm not from there and I like jazz.

  • Portlandia!

  • thumbs up if portlandia brought you here.

  • @abalonegreg the show literally said to look this up on youtube? damn, i'm glad i don't watch it

  • @abalonegreg I've always loved this song- but the radio station that used to play it doesn't play it anymore. I'm so glad Portlandia reminded me how awesome this song is

  • @abalonegreg You misspelled Magnolia

  • The Jane Austen Book Club brought me here, actually.

  • this song is ok.

  • tom cruise is awesome in this film. he should've won. sorry michael cane. tom cruise REALLY should've won the oscar this year.

  • I wonder if she's still working for fred and carrie...

  • But pa, this song always makes me cry. One of the saddest movies ever.

  • very beautiful..have just finished watching magnolia..one more time..magnificent movie..

  • try: "amrand"

  • I actually like people telling me where they hear songs from. As good a start to finding a good movie as any other.

  • Magnolia is one of my all time favorite movies and this is the absolute best song in the entire film!!!

It just makes me absolutely dumbfounded why this isn't an Oscar winning song .

Ammie Mann and PTA are both incredibly amazing!

  • I absolutely love this movie

  • no fucking way is she 51

  • portlandia

  • Have been a fan since til tuesday. I have yet to hear a better falsetto in pop music since then.

  • This movie is so sad. Everyone seems to be stuck in a life they don't want. Despair!

  • Cowgirl Radio brought me here.

  • I Like This Song Nice Video Thank You For Sharing.God Bless You#33

  • Hey does anyone know if this and Aimee's other songs from the soundtrack had already been out before the movie?, or were they made specifically for the movie? Another question did the actors participate in making the video with Aimee or was she edited in to scenes from the movie. Anyone who can help answer those I would appreciate it.

  • i am actually named after her! she has a great voice actually the greatest voice in the universe

  • :c

  • This is such an important song to me, I can't keep from crying when i hear it and i'm a grown man of 29. This song has changed me alot in life.

The movie is also the best movie ever made in all categoeries all times. It hurts so much. Hurts so bad, hurts so good.

  • @GoldenChantarelle Hey I am right there with you man, i'm 30 and I feel the same way. I thought the trailer for Magnolia looked stupid and did not want to watch it. Then a friend of mine rented it because we always watch movies and it was her turn to pick one and she insisted that I would like it. So of course between the acting most notably cruise who I don't usually like, I think was his best performance. And Aimee's soundtrack kept me choked up, then this song at the end, Niagra Falls

  • @TheDoctorwho747 Anything by Paul Thomas Anderson is brilliant :)

  • How did PTA had time to shoot a movie AND a videoclip at the same time?!

  • MAGNOLIA, NOT ICE T

  • nobody brought me here! I just looked it up because i wanted to hear good music.

  • @Moe0YES arnt we a hipster

  • thumb up if the reason you looked this up was because of timothy

  • @BallaT21

    I am Timothy!!!!!

  • @timmc58 your the reason i looked it up haha

  • Cold Case brought me here :)

  • Aimee & Ice T? Sheesh! Seriously?! You gotta be kidding me! NOT EVEN in the same league. Ice T being @ the bottom of the food chain & Aimee being at the top. This is another song by her, that she did after her 80's heyday that is absolutely brilliant... just like her song Calling It Quits which came later also & is even more brilliant still!

  • buy the comments someone is a fag

  • Um, Ice T doesn't have a Twitter account, that's run by a fan with no official affiliation.

  • wack ass music

  • HOT BOWL OF DICKS - ICE T

  • Eat a hot bowl of dicks.

  • Hot bowl of dicks. Ice T

  • saw her in the back of the Midtown Music Festival in the 90's she didn't want anyone looking at her before her show...very moody...cool in my opinion

  • I looked this up because of 'Til Tuesday "Voices Carry" (Aimee Mann is the lead vocalist on that haunting '80s hit). /watch?v=uejh-bHa4To&ob=av2e She hasn't lost her singing chops, and she's still hot.

  • is she related to manfred mann?

  • Thumbs if you knew she was one of the nihilists in Big Lebowski.

  • magnolia is a stupid movie. its has no sense no meaning

  • @Drkhalid84 You are stupid. You have no sense, no meaning.

  • @124soyeon i

i mean the scene with frogs raining ,it means nothing but a disgusting phenomena as you are

  • @Drkhalid84 Obviously you didn't understand the movie. Before you call me "a disgusting phenomena" go learn grammar.

  • Magnolia is my FAVORIE movie of all time....and thats saying something.....Beautiful movie, music and Aimee's beautiful voice.

  • LOVE HER. Saw her today in concert for the second time<3

  • @sallyragdoll13 I saw her too, it was amazing!!!:D

  • lulululuuuuuvvvvvvvvvv this song

  • i don't think people have to mention that the song was in Magnolia since the music video is chocked fucking full of characters from Magnolia.

  • She sang in a song with Rush.... that scores many points

  • I still can't believe this didn't win the Oscar for best Original Song. A Travesty!!!

  • I actually did not look this up because of Magnolia... I looked this up because of The Jane Austen Book Club. O_o

  • Now I have to watch the movie again

  • You look like, the perfect fit / for a boy in need of a Juliette... but can you save me, Karmen???

  • if you don't like this, you know shit about music

  • @carabeth3 this was a comment left by her brother, inadvertently, and does not reflect, or confirm, her views on anything, including this song.

  • Portlandia brought me here, Magnolia Who?

  • Arguablly PTA's best movie, at least it is my favorite, although it is quite sad.

  • ricky gervais radio is the reason i looked this up

  • What is this Magnolia? Maybe I should see it :o

  • @ChristinaLufsMonkeys just.... respect the cock...

  • @ChristinaLufsMonkeys : It's a great movie..roller coaster emotional ride..!

  • Yeah...it's a great movie..worth a watch..!

  • Thumbs up if you can get Aimee Mann's toe by 3 o'clock, with nail polish on it.

  • I hadn't realised I'd seen Magnolia, I'd forgotten it's name. It was beautiful.

  • great theme..sublime...

  • a thousand thumbs

  • save me from the 113 freaks who suspect they can never love anyone.

  • PTA, Magnolia and Amy Mann is what brought me here.

  • 113 people kiss my fat ass! ;)

  • @fromtheatoz ur fat ?

  • this song is so fucking sad it hurts

  • i dont get either of the top comments

  • 113 people that have not been saved. Or maybe they do not want to save..

  • THIS IS MAGNOLIA. best movie ever. at least for me :)

  • @Abara1Kun try this i promisae no disapoint the cook the thief his wife and her lover

  • I had this soundtrack when the movie came out, and I listened to it so much... I killed it. lol

  • @lizmariposa1 So did I. Couldnt stop playing it. I would jump over the non-Aimee Mann songs too - haha. Though the Desiree song was nice. Cheers!

  • Thumbs up if you're here cause of Pretty Little liars... xD

  • Thank YOU mikatile......Sincerely, "a girl in need of a tourniquet" Ms. Mann is and always has been on the genius fringe

  • This is shit.

  • Great song, but sounds a bit like 'Drive' by The Cars.

  • why does everyone mention magnolia? Aimee Mann first released music in 1993, she is far above the level of writing music for a forgetable film. She is a fantastic artist who wrote for something,, they should be more gratefull to have her input, than she should be to be asked to write for for a studio production.

  • @mikatile Well let's see, it was along with wise up the most rememberable song in the movie and even this videoclip features the actors from the movie.

  • @mikatile because on this video its rather Magnolia heavy...

  • @mikatile "Magnolia" is kind of not a forgettable movie, I'm afraid to admit.

  • @mikatile Paul Thomas Anderson used Aimee Mann's music as direct inspiration as he wrote the script for Magnolia -- a pretty memorable film, if not for its length and cast, than for its strangeness and soundtrack - which heavily uses Mann, by the way.

The reason a lot of people cite the film as the reason they are aware of Aimee Mann is because it catapulted her into fame like nothing had before.

  • @jokeybokey She had a bigger hit in the '80s with a song called Voices Carry with her band 'Til Tuesday. Check it out. Phenomenal song.

  • @mikatile Aimee Mann first recorded her music in the early 1980s with her band the Young Snakes -- and maybe even before, as a student at Berklee School of Music in Boston.

  • The irony of IceT's fans having a go at Mann's music is amazing! His own music is abominable and Day Lewis is hardly going to be worrying about him stealing his acting crown. Don't slander what you aren't intellectually capable of understanding. Anyway someone in the film industry that is a great is PTA and if he uses a line from one of your songs in one of his masterpieces then you're doing something right. Genius lyricist and Magnolia/There Will Be Blood are two of the finest films ever made.

  • Magnolia is the reason I looked this up :)

  • Pretty little liars!

  • she should eat a bowl of hot dicks

  • this is pretty average

  • I reckon half the views on this video are because of Ice T

  • WACK

  • WACK ASS music

  • Is it hard to sing while eating a hot bowl of dicks?

  • He's right. Your music is wack.

  • Thumbs if you looked this up because of Ice

  • @fightwithlight I sure did! Ha!

  • haaa stupid ass bitch got her ass treated by ice

  • more soft ass music for lesbians to fap to.

  • leave ICE ALONE!

  • Work on your craft... Stop dissing Ice T... <3

  • @karateporkchop you do realise it happened last year LOL?

    Told. ;)

  • @joshyybaxx Nooooo!! I failed!

  • I wouldn't say "Magnolia" is an underrated film. That is, I think people generally recognize it as a good film. But I don't see people rushing out to see it over and over. It is monumentally depressing, and people are genuinely made uncomfortable by it. If a person were to sit through "Magnolia" and Todd Solondz's "Happiness" back to back, there is a good chance they would end up killing themselves by the end of the day. Great movies, but hard to watch.

  • @MoGreensGlasses while Magnolia is somewhat hard to watch due to the all characters' deep emotional/psychological problems, theres a sense of hope building up towards the end. just when you think all is lost for these guys, something crazy happens to give them the 'push' they need. they all recieve the forgiveness, second chance, or punishment they deserve. beautiful, strange movie :-)

  • Did you know the guy who composed the soundtrack to this film was the same guy who did the soundtrack to Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind???? Idk if any of you care, but it made me shit bricks :D

  • SHE KUT OFF HER TOE FOR THA DOODE!!!

    your hipster comments below :)

  • Magnolia has got to be one of the most underrated flicks of all time...I think some of the subject matter hits too close too home for people and makes 'em feel uncomfortable...

  • i love the movie

    tom cruse dnd hes dad

  • Is that cop at the end John C. Reilly?

  • @gajonauta Yep, one of the stories in the movie centers around him.

  • musica perfeita, que mexe com os meus sentimentos. Me faz pensar em tudo o que é leve e bom.

  • I only hope the 88 dislikes are commentary on the quality of the upload, not the video or the song or the artist.

  • raffagatto

For all those [things] hath mine hand made, and all those [things] have been, saith the LORD: but to this [man] will I look, [even] to [him that is] poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembleth at my word.

    Isaiah 66:2

For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name [is] Holy; I dwell in the high and holy [place], with him also [that is] of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.

  • @Tormentorio Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. Matthew 11:28-30
