@sausagedogheaven the differents between a chin up and a pull up is simple, a chin up is with your hands like the guy in this video had, and a pull up is having the hands the opposite way (chin up: your hand closes towards you face, pull up: hand closes away from your face)
if you have a strong core l pullups are actually easier than standard pull ups. thats why you arent allowed to bring your legs out past a certain point in any pull up test.
I agree with 0587dave. I can do 15 L-Pull-Ups but I can only do 10 regular pull-ups. Of course I weigh 235, which makes doing pull-ups harder than for someone who weighs less...LOL Still though, I always found it funny that people say L-Pull-Ups are harder, when I find regular pull-ups to be much more difficult. Doing L-Pull-Ups looks cool though and people are always impressed by it. So it is fun to bust out a bunch of L-Pull-Ups to impress people.
It looks like you have a good strength to weight ratio. I have been doing crossfit for a couple months now after doing mma conditioning workouts for the last year and a half. I have gotten my weight down considerably, but my ratio is not as good as yours. Are you able to do clapping pull ups?
as far as the ligaments and stress on joints and tendons go; This is somethink you can workout and improve the same way you can do with strength workout...
Most climbers don't even truly deadhang, it just looks that way. I've torn ligaments from doin a mediocrely fast descent and my shoulders were strong.
You actually never wanna fully go down. That severely stresses your joints and tendons, you wanna go just before you reach that point, and having the tiniest bit of tension.
great ab strength, and it would be great form, if only you went down all the way. Just that little thing makes the difference from people criticizing you and applauding you. I'd make another video, with better form, i'm sure ur strong enough.
I notice he didn't extend his arms in full ROM coming down. Is this a bad thing to do? I always thought it was proper form to extend. Somebody explain?
SIKKK!!! im working on progressing to eventualy doing that

Excuse me ladies and gentlemen, this guy is awesome as far as I can see. I can't even do 1 of these.
.
What is the difference between a chin up and a pull up?
.
People say he should drop right down? Is that right? Is it ok to do that? Does it benefit your arms? Or does it risk injury by dropping right down?
.

GAGRTOCC 10 months ago
@strangeimpulse2003 Yah if you don't go all they way down you don't actually activate your core that much. Try it, you will see.
polevaultskills 7 months ago

u will never grow strong if u are afraid to stress your joints & tendons every once in a while.
think of all the climbers. they are fit and they're never afraid of deadhangs.
ctn4L 2 years ago
yeah, true, but you have to train those muscles too.

Again, weak form. fully extend your arms when you go down.
