  • My friends horse does that all the time, its either digging or your pulling on his mouthz

  • @welshypara Its a little hard to pull on HER mouth in a head coller dont you think!!! Its funny how shes doing it as i ask.

  • That´s no spanish walk....

  • @Bubi228

Thats why it says WELSH COB TRYING TO DO SPANISH WALK BAREBACK IN HEAD COLLER!!!!

Does it say DOING anywhere here NO!!

  • I know what it is when she locks her legs.. Doe shee lock then drag ? If so its lock and stiflee. my pony is like yours and he had it.. we had his ligiment cut for 400 $ But they will delvelop athritis in the next 15 yrs.. its the best thing we did to him :)

  • @little10ponieghost1

No its locking patellar or upward fixaction of the patellar. Yes she can have her ligerments cut but you have to look at what that will do to the horse. She will not be able to sleep standing up. She will get arthrites at a young age and being a bigger breed she will already get it. I could put her in foal to strech her back end and that should stop it from locking. She is not 5 and a half and she only gets stiff when its cold or she puts on to much weight.

  • hey my friend had a 2 and a half yr old which she little break to rode just cus he was so full of himself he needed it i feel that if the horse is happy to do 20 to 30 minutes a day it is not going to hurt them x x x x

  • I love the places you are able to ride at! I'm so jealous! And you're horses are cute too!

  • shes toooo gorgeous

  • She's absoloutley gorgeous :D

    good luck with her :)

she should grow out of it,

a pony that is now on loan to me had the same thing, he's now 19 and trots along with his tail in the air all proud of himself, without a bit of stiffness in him :)

    xxx

  • Cute Pony! :L

  • I wouldn't worry about the age ; unless you are doing schooling (which a young horse cannot do ) there is no harm in just sitting on her back and trotting about, especially as she's a welsh cob and clearly not weak and weedy . However, wheres the spanish walk we were promised ?

  • it says "trying to do spanish walk" not doing spanish walk

  • Well, I don't see anyone 'trying' to do a spanish walk either .

  • BTW I'm interested in what condition it is your filly has ? It doesn't sound like string halt so i wondered if your vet had a name for it ?

  • And (sorry to keep adding stuff lol ) we used to breed welsh and iw as wondering what blodline your filly is ? She looks nice from what i can see here .

  • i will send you a video and if you look under the info you can see her link to her bloodlines, lewi my bay has the best and is from Gwenllan

i am hoping to breed millie to GWENLLAN SAM lewis grandad

  • its upward fixaction of the patellar, shes out growing it slowly

  • open your eyes then love beacuse you can clearly see shes lifting one leg than the other as i ask her to

  • Oh sorry, do you mean the pawing ? I thought she was just pawing, I didn't realise you were asking her to do that. video is a bit fuzzy on my pc ; kinda like my own vid of my mare bucking, most think shes being naughty and dont realise Im telling her to do it. How do you ask her to do that ? is it hard to teach ?

  • NO WORRIES

    i just tap her leg

now i cant be arsed with tricks lol after my 12hh pony made a fool out of me at the traffic lights, i asked him to trot on but he started doing his spanish walk lol

If i ask her to pick up she will still do this, i just point at one then tell her to "do the other side" and she will do it, i only use it if she wants a treat lol

  • Its nice though to teach tricks, I think anyway; I teach mine tricks and it makes them feel special , like a dog , they enjoy it i think.

  • exactly am sure you know what you doing with you own horse and am sure shell be fine so people just need to keep their oppinions to their selfs or say them in a nice way

  • she sorry lol

  • shes 4 now and still alive

  • Personally i would say hes too young but hey hes not my horse and some people dissagree with other peoples oppinions so whats the point in making an argument its her horse she can do what she wants leave her be and stop being so childish ur horse is very pretty by the way

  • I say its your horse! i personally love what you are doing with her. Some race horses are riden at yearlings to be trained. My guy was started at two and he is almost four and is more advance then most 5-6year olds. So its all in opinon. Good job though!

  • i think what you do is great, when the vets say that it's best for her to build her up you do that becouse you love her and you don't want her to have so many pain my friessian is 11years old and she had problems to but whe all did our best and listend to the vets to know what was best for her great job girl good luck i hope it works! x

  • i dont undestand why so many people are going on about the horse being to young to ride.. just look at how young race horses are when they are backed and raced, i totally agree with bigpegasus606, she is doing nothing wrong at all!

  • thanks shes doing great, shes had 2 weeks off after our accident and because of the snow this week, her legs have gotten a bit stiff because of the cold so i have upped her superflex. i am still hoping she will out grow the locking problem.

  • Why isn't there an excuse?

Just cause racing horses is bad doesn't mean riding them is.

It's not like she's doing heavy pulling or running so chill out everyone.

xD I think she is gorgeous and i hope she gets all better soon!! <3

  • she will have major back problems when sje is done growing!!! they arent fixable

wouldnt you rather operate on her legs than cause problems that cant be opperated on?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

  • yes i want her to be in pain for the rest of her life

i hope shes in pain right now il make shore shes in pain, i will go jump up and down on her back right now xxx

  • haha everyone shut up i was driving my 15 month old cob down the main road yesterday. my stallion was backed and ridden before it was 2 yrs old and he's now a CHAPS graded stallion at 4 yrs old so i dont think that did him any harm. does this horse look like its struggling at all? NO! its taking it in its stride. goegeous little filly, keep going with it!! its obvioulsy really chilled out and comfortable with what ur doing and looks really well and healthy and mature!! x

  • haha thats great, if i had waited untill this year i dont think it would of gone as well as it did last year, as you no cobs are bloody strong and shes now coming up to 4 so shes built like a fucking tank lol any way shes doing great best to start them young if they are ready for it xxx

  • shes really cute!! :)

  • shes a cob thick o

    can you read?

    google locking patellars

    then comment back

  • there is no excuse to ride a 2 year old - ever. and i really doubt that you will need to make them do the spanish walk for locking patellars.

  • its called putting weight on there back end to bulid them up so you can ride them for longer

    did you google it?

if you new me/ my horse or my vets (s)then you would no why and what i did

what part of this video does it say i dont this every day you tit get a life

  • There's NEVER an excuse for riding a 2,6 year old pony. NEVER. Poor pony....

  • Hi there

by the comment thing over the >>>> it seems your horse has lock stifle, if it is lock stifle it is easily fixed by cutting a tendon on the stifle. and then there will be no more problems. but you would never breed from her if she has it because it passes on. good luck with her, she is adorable!

  • yer thanks

have you had a horse with it

shes still only 3 and 6 months so do you think she might still out grow it

since shes been backed shes not doing it as much i have put her on superflex suplerment and every morning i get her out the stable and walk her backwords and shes so much better she never used to do that strat out the stable untill shes warmd up

  • we have had horses with it, they don't grow out of it unfortuneately, does she walk and then all of a sudden her hock locks into place?

  • no shes never done it when moving

shes only locked or droped when standing still

its not her hock that locks its her stifle on both sides she locked bad last week because she was in for a day and night

but shes only locked a few times

iv been told by the vet she can grow out of it

  • it will be interesting to see how she goes, maybe get the operation on the stifle done, they just nick the tendon and the leg wont ever lock up again. Most of the time when Miniature horses get it they get put down.

  • like i said she sstill only 3 and 6 months shes a lot bigger than a mini shes 15.2hh

shes on very expensive suplerments and after only 4 days has improved so much

once they cut the ligerment it can never be mended

she will never stand up to sleep

    she will get arthrites early

so if shes doing better after 4 days then i dont see the need to do surgery at this early stage

    thanks for your help

and id never put her down unless shes in pain! :(

  • i can fully understand where you are coming from, just keep doing what you have been doing with her and hopefully she will grow out of it, and hopefully it isnt locking stifle, but just to clarify, the operation does heal, once healed (in a few weeks) they can do everything normal, i have shown horses that have had it done, then go to jump 36 inches, which for a 31inch horse, thats massive.

  • omg thats klass how do u teach ur horse to do that lovely horse

  • lol tar she just loves her food

so when i say pick up she picks up and gets food i never carrid on with it into proper spanish walk its funny the way it is lol she will still do that now

  • what?

ur starting on me for no reason! i meant it as a joke, god

  • AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAA. Lets hear another one

  • thats a horse pawing at the ground when asked to by the looks of things to me,but what do i know?

  • yer what the hell do you no

its the fucking start morron grow up

  • Thats how Im starting with my 4 year old. I tought him to pick up his foor on the gorund when i touched it with a stick, then he moved up to pawing. the next step is to show him how to do this at a walk. What is sgown in this clip is the beginnings of what will becom a spanish walk.

  • im not sayin anything bad

I don't know what the horse was thinking but

that COULD have been a spanish "walk" but like the beginning stage cuz u said u havent done it alot, but we had a pony named Gabi at our barn and she used to do that but like at the trot and we found that it wasnt the spanish walk, but indecision cuz she didnt know what the rider wanted. Could it be indecision that caused her to paw out?

(im not trying to be rude or dis you or anything im just asking)

  • no its the start of spanish walk

    they have to start somwhere

  • ok, thats kool =]

i hope she gets better!! she's gorgeous =]

  • HI

love your horse and keep doing what you are doing its not that much!! and she is looking lovely dont listen to the others that wont do anything with thier horses ok its not for every horse at the age of 2 but yours looks fine with it! i have owned so many youngsters and some i have started at 2 some i had to leave till 4 but then every horse is different...keep up with the good work!!! x

  • hi thanks very much

this is a old video of he rshes so much more built up now and is schooling realy well

i have a few more resent videos but there getting older now and shes improved even more thanks again xxx

  • she's well built for her age. racehorses are broken to ride at 2 and raced not long aftre that. her horse is obvioulsy developed enough too be ridden at her age, and shes doing ti for a reason and for fun like lots of people. end of

  • yep lol just under a year on and shes getting better and better

i no when to push her and no when shes ready for a schooling ride or just a nice hack up the mountain or down the beach you learn to read a horse when you have a bond like i do

    dont you ??

  • yeah, you can tell when a horse isn't happy aswell lol

  • Cute horse. I have a soft spot for stocky horses :) My Galloway is a big horse in a little horses body :p

  • hmmm you sound classy.

Do what you like, it doesn't bother me in the slightest. Jyst expect things like this to be seen and questioned on You tube.

  • why comment if you dont care

    my horse

    my rules

if i can get a horse 2 lie down i can get it to do spanish walk if i felt like it

    good bye

  • Sorry but from everything i've read it sounds like you haven't got a clue what you're on about! Fair nough if you've been advised by a vet to ride then so be it... but Spanish walk?! Looks like you're just pulling it around and squeezing so it can't do anything else but paw out.

  • 1stly its a head coller

2nd its her 1st or second time walking with me on her

3rd if i wanted her to do it i would take the time to get her doin it well

4th shes a fucking 2 year old il send you a vid and you let me no how many 3 year olds can do half the stuff she can

  • I wouldn't expect a 2yr old to be doing anything! If your vet has said she needs exercising for 20mins every day then fair enough but I can guess that that is hacking in straight easy lines. NOT SCHOOLING and messing around

  • yes she is schooling

shes 3 now so whay my horse

shes built like a tank she also has shoes on and had them done again to day hes a breeder and none her her hole life he says shes fine to be in as much work as she is and the vet even said up the work load because shes looking a bit fat

so dont give me your no it all bull shit

  • spannish walk doesnt do harm them in any way, seems you dont have a clue what your on about either matie

  • Hi nice horse!

Just to point out you can't have a pelham in for dressage its snaffle or double bridle. Thats besides the point anyway, just didn't want someone to think they could have a pelham in coz you will get eliminated.

    Lovely mare anyway

  • thats why it says trying not spanish walk the ways its ment to good sack get over it shes doin well she hadnt even had a saddle on at this point this was like the 1st week i had ever sat on her

  • She's beautiful. I hope she grows out of her "thing".

  • yer me 2 but shes got it realy bad 2 night she was galloping round the padock the othernight and fell over and its come back again i rode her to day and it stoped

  • Oh no! Give her a get-well hug from me, O.K.?

  • hehe thanks poor girl i feal so sorry 4 her coz i was picking her feet out to day and she put her leg strat out then it was realy hard 4 her to pop it back in its like a massive jolt but after the ride she was fine

  • Wow, her "thing" sounds seriously weird. But she will grow out of it?

  • i dont no but she might have it her hole life so long as i can ride her every day that should keep it under control so the vet said

  • O.K. does it hurt her, when the joint pops?

  • i dont no she cant talk lol

    just kiddin

i think its like us you no if you have been sittin 4 2 long then you realy need to click you legs but its hard to then finaly it clicks and you feal better i think its like that some times both he rback legs give was and she stumbles but not yet fallen

  • Ha, no, I guess not.

Sounds logical, though. Good luck with her, she really is gorgeous!

  • u should put a bridle on your horse, just osme advice. shes very cute or he

  • dont tell me what to do i was only bringing her in from the field

  • im not telling u im giving u advise. and dotn get all freaked out. alot of people give other people advsice on utube. and i am one of those people

  • i no but i was only bringin her in and she has a bridle but never won it b4 this vid coz shes only 2 in this vid and i tock he revery where in a head coller b4 i backed her

  • and horse can spanish walk 2 words "Chin Snap" Beautiful horse tho

  • wat i dont understad wat you just put

  • no um how do i say it when you put the bridle on then you have the chain on the chin O==O it looks like that and it snaps on to the bit and the chain is under the chin if you under stand Dressage rider have like 2 on there horse. well if you put it tight any horse will walk like that but my point has gone out the window

  • its called a curb chain and a pellem but not all riders in dressage have them my horse cant have a curb chain he hates them why did you say that

  • Oh sorry i didnt know how you say it

  • lol why did you need to no

  • Oh the hole point is gone now. but with my mare i can get her to do that walking thing with a ~curb chain~

  • its ti tight then a curb chan is only ment to be for use on the pellem or bits like that to act as a live rto pull the head down there realy hard and somtimes hurt the horse its not ment to be tight

  • I know that but i did it to so my mother " Look Shee Does Funny Walk"

i know it can and will hurt them if use badly.

  • right thats my ponit across i jhave nothink more to say

  • whats a chin strap

  • A chin strap is a helmet

  • pretty pony... i read the description and my horse has the same problem. we had him as a four yr old and he has what they call a locking stiffle joint (which im sure you have heard all about so i wont explain!) we were told lots of hill work to build up his strengh and he should grow out of it well he is 12yrs old now and still very occasionally has the problem if he has to stay in for long periods of time but on the whole he is fine and it doesnt affect anything else! good luck with your horse!

  • waw thanks iv had her from 4 months but like you said about staying in yes that has made it come back we live wales and it is very wet hear lol so when its very windy i keep them in or just walk to the end of the yard hill and back she does a lot of weaving witch doesnt help she looked very stiff the other day but iv bin out on her and its gone again xxx

  • your horse is absoluly beautiful i have a iron grey camarge 15.1 hh!

i wish Nevada can spanish walk

    great job

    xx

  • omg and iron grey i wonted 1 of them but you cant find them in welsh cobs they r very rer but iv always always wonted a chestnut so i got her insted lol what do you do with your horse

  • everything realy walk, trot, canter, gallop, jumpin 3foot5, bare back, head coller ect but he cant stand still when i groom him which is a pain in the bum and he does the spanish walk then cos he is annoyed!

  • oh wow she's beautiful! I wish my pony could do that ^_^

  • lol iv never carred on doin it with her as shes only young and am just starting to do dressage traning with her so i did wont to confues her with my leg aides

  • it would have been alot more helpful if you'd have stated that you were instructed to ride her, it would have saved alot of trouble, and confusion, and there would have been more time to admire her

  • oh ok did i no say that

  • I dont think StarHolly was critisizing, she was only implying, and you do actually need to follow the vet's orders, he wasnt saying that stuff for fun ;)

    xx

  • the vet said ride her so thats what iv been doing this was just a little somthin on the side she does it a lot better and its all part of building her back end up in this vid i hadnt been on her with full tack on i only rode her 2 and from the field

  • Its ok, i was only saying, i didntknow that ;) she is a beautiful horse by the way :D

    xx

  • its ok lol i wouldnt expect her to be doin full blown spanish walk or dressage or any think like that at her age i no horses ownd by other ppl might be able 2

  • why do people have to critisies other people?

im not saying what you are doing is right or wrong but you should do what the vet says,

you dont know the or situation dont coment until you know the facts

  • yes thank you thats what iv been saying all along if i didnt take this horse out she would go crazy she would even pas in her field and she gets so worked up when i get the tack out she just loves 2 go out

  • read up on what?

if that horse is so young, and still learning, why confuse it more by trying to make her do something so advanced, especially with the joints problem. You could at least wait until she is fully grown, around 5 or 7 before you teach her that. And you were told to do hill work, not ridden hill work. Do you know how many horse are damaged by being ridden at a young age? I have experience with young horses, i would know. And i dont like your attitude, i was merely suggesting

  • i no what the vet said she said ridden work and hill work will build her up the only reson she had join problem was because her bones were so big and she never had any muscle to move proply but since shes been riden shes built up slitly shes my horse not yours if i wont your view i would ask 4 it and thanks 4 saying you dont like my attitude not many ppl do i dont give a shit 2 tell the truth

  • it just looks like pawing the ground, not full blown spanish walk.

riding in a bridle may help as well.

  • right 1st thing when we did this the filly hadnt had a saddle on i had only been riding her about 3 days or so this was the 1st time i had ever asked her 2 do this with me on her she was only 2 and also didnt have a bit in as it says on the tile it doesnt say welsh cob doin spanish walk this is a young horse read up b4 u comment back

  • umm yah nice filly! Work on the spanish walk tho; its not yet perfected imao!!!!!!xx

  • yes i no thanks shes only young and as i have said b4 you have 2 start some where am not goin to get on her and 4 her or any horse to no how 2 do it my pony has masterd doin it from a stand still but still fines it hard to walk at the same time

  • i was being nice, no need to snap back, i was joking. wow. that was so unfriendly of u; thanks a lot! :(

  • am just so used to ppl being horid about ppls horses shes only young and is trying her hardest

  • yeh, grrr! you know, i hate when people do that. I was doing the levade, and my friend told me i was pulling at my horse and ABUSING her????wtf! peepl are so mean, i WAY prefer animals!

  • that's just scraping the ground - not lifting it's foreleg. it's going to ruin its hooves like that.

  • oh shut up she had just started to it you peole expect horses to have read the book and watched the films and for a 2yr old horse to now how 2 do it right away your so silly you dont have a clue about teaching horses you prob ride riding school horses

  • hiya nat its alex (terris niece) nice vid

  • hi alex how r u when zebs legs better you can come and have a go lol

  • oh weird how do u teach them to do that/? like wwat do u do

  • omg sooooooo cute! i love the markings

  • god i havnt seen this vid in ages lmao her legs ar so much biger now omg lol that was a the start of the summer this yr good shes looking more and more coby every day lol thanks 4 your comment lol wen i 1st got her she looked a bit funny coz of he rwhite legs and she had realy long legs lol she was 3 months old wen i 1st sore her but i love it now

  • shes gorgeous_X

    look at ma vids

  • oh ok!! lol i ok!!

  • thats not a spanish walk she is just pawing, a spanish walk is when your horse walks with straight legs at a slow gait, i just learned how to do the spanish walk a week ago!

  • yer well what did your horse do right at the beging it never tock him 2 seconds to learn it right you have 2 take it 1 step at a time with young horses at leasy she trying she will get it 1 day i dont push her coz she 2

  • god nose how she lurnt to do it with me on that was the 1st time id tryed it well 1st day lol she was only gettind ridne 2 and from the field in this vid coz i hadnt backed her yet but she backed now and goin realy well

  • how do you get her to do the spanish walk thingy?

  • you filly is nice...we breed welsh cobs and thorougbreds, i went to the royal welsh on my wc mare section D and came 2nd out of 29!!

  • Awwh she is really pretty! Good luck with her!

  • yer we trust each other a lot and iv just backed her when this vid was taken lol she just let me get on her and ride her she is my world she did this with her legs for the 2nd time with me on her i dont want to puss her to do it more than as few times coz i dont want her to get fed up with it coz its just for fun

  • god she must realy trust you to let you ride her like that you must realy look after her

  • cute, shes really pretty :D dont worrie i dont wear a hat when we ride the shetlands to the feild
