I saw this live in 1987, definitely a mind blowing experience. We were about ten feet from the bass amps and we could actually feel the air pressure from there. Good times.
It's songs like THIS that needs to be on those 35 live albums Maiden have released so far. Not Run To The Hills, Iron Maiden, The Trooper, Sanctuary, Wrathchild, etc etc. We've heard them countless times on live albums and love them. TIME FOR A CHANGE OF TRACK LISTS for any future live albums. You listening, Harris. Put songs like this on live albums. Songs that kick serious arse.

Somewhere In Time is one of the WORST Maiden albums. The first BAD Maiden album. They were never the same after POWERSLAVE and only sporadically had moments which reflected their past greatness.
I saw Maiden twice on this tour at the old glorious Hammersmith Odeion in London and then in Milan, my hometown. WASP opened. Both unbelievable shows. Maiden's gigs in the 80s were more like EVENTS. I love your video because it gives you the sense of excitement and anticipation of those special nights. MAIDEN RULES!
Maiden England was supposed to be released around the same time Live After Death was going to be released on DVD a few years ago. Nothing ever happened though, sucks because Maiden England was fantastic!
this was the year i started listening to maiden i was just 10 fucking years old, this year ill be 34 damn im caught somewhere in time,it makes me go back in the past ,writing on the present, and i will be remembering this for the rest of my fucking life ,up the irons
Hey I like Vangelis for that genre of ambient music and the movie was great based off the book do android's dream of electric sheep. This shows outside interest which is cool;great opening to an even better song because Maiden rules!!!!!!!!!!!#1
How many people in the audience do you think had seen BLADE RUNNER? It was a notorious bomb at the box office. I was way into Maiden at this time and hadn't seen it. Maybe they should've played the theme to the romantic fantasy movie with Christopher Reeve and Jane Seymour SOMEWHERE IN TIME? Hmm...
Doesn't matter how many people seen Blade Runner, it was a unique track and they deemed it worthy to fit into their pre-song lineup. Their song "The Prisoner" had a clip from the the British TV show "The Prisoner." "we want information, information, information". I doubt even the British knew about that one, but who cares, it was unique and cool at the time. Welcome to the music business, almost every band does the same thing.
Maiden live performance is way overrated. Bruce loses his vocal tone alot live. The concerts are still great tho.
But there are bands that do way better live concerts. Manowar is one that immidiately spring to mind, mostly because Eric Adams actually can sing what he wants live too. :P
man first of all insert your cd in you computer copy it get sure it sounds ok then go to movie maker or a video maker program the put a song and some images maybe lyrics if you want then sace it upload to youtbe and tell me do the same with the other songs
No Im not kidding. Honestly it's just not Bruce but Iron Maiden as a whole sounds bad live. They're the greatest band in history and they love touring and always give an energic show and that's why people think they are amazing live, but in fact their live sound is quite bad. They make more mistakes playing their instruments than other bands do live, and like we said, Bruce has a weak voice on stage.
Iron Maiden absolutely is the best heavy metal in the world though.
All I can say is that you must have never seen them live, or you had ear plugs in too far. Iron Maiden is one of the few bands that sound almost identical to their studio recordings because they can actually play their instruments. Bruce might not always sound great because he is always running around. As far as mistakes you must have seen a cover bad. Except for Janick the band RARELY messes up, and I am a very critical person.
"sound almos indentical to their studio recordning"? Sorry but that's laughable. I've seen them 4 times live and countless times on live videos and they almost always sound terrible. I'm not talking about messing up because everyone makes mistakes. It's a general sloppyness in the playing (Murray more so than Smith. Janick shouldn't even be in the band - 3 guitars wtf?) and the sound tech guys are mixing and tuning the sound very badly. And Bruce's voice live is simply weak.
You should just stop posting, because it is clear that you don't know what you are talking about. If you indeed actually went to shows you must have been completely high or drunk. Maiden is known from GREAT live performances, and known that since they record live in the studio with little editing their sound is very consistent. I went to a show in 2008 with a bunch of people and ALL agreed it was the best sound mixed show we have ever been too.
No I was sober every time. Saw them in the 80's, 90's and in the 00's.
I know Maiden is famous as a great live band, but that's due to two reasons:
1. They have very passionate fans who aren't overly critical, for obvious reasons as Maiden is the best band in history. 2. Maiden are a good live band when it comes to energy and intensity, and visually. That's where they got the good reputation. But it's got nothing to do with playing skills or clear sound mixing.
This stuff was so hard to find before the internet. During the 90s I tried so hard and i got only one bootleg from the Somewhere In Time era.. I would have went mad 15 years ago if I was to find a video like this so easily. What a jewel, the guitar sounds great live, the stage was wonderful.
My list including Bruce solo cd's solo Killers Piece of mind Powerslave Live after Death ,my 1st Maiden record age 13 Somewhere in time 7th Son Tattooed Millionaire Accident of Birth Chemmical Wedding Tyranny of souls Dance of Death I own all the stuff they have put out based on reputation ,but the early 90's was a ruff period for the band and I did not like the Blaze era, But I have always been here.
I agree except I would have Number of the Beast instead of Brave New World but that's a personal preference. All Maiden's albums ROCK including the Di'anno albums!
Its such a pity that they didn't release a similar DVD/Live Album based on the 'Somwhere on Tour' Tour. Many of the Somewhere In Time songs have NEVER been played live outside of the album tour which is a crying shame as it's one of thier best albums!
DEFINETLY!!!!! I always though the same, every song of "Somewhere in Time" should been played during that Tour, because all of them are amazing! Deja Vu, The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner, Alexander the Great, Sea of Madness, all this songs are masterpieces and none of them played Live in an oficial DVD
Regrettably I was born in 1983 so if you do the maths I was only 3 when Maiden were on tour in 86 but, on the theme of somewhere in time, how I wish I had a time machine so that I could go back to great tours like this. Youtube or should I say wonderful people like SimpleGiangi have given me the next best thing. Thank you for putting this up man ;) UP THE IRONS!!!
I saw this tour in 87.....awesome to say the least. Nobody was putting on a show back then like Maiden was doing......very cutting edge technology for that time frame.

i was born in 1986 on September 5 when iron maiden put on sale the single wasted years ( on september 6 ) i have one day of life i was a little baby rocker
I would so damned very much like Iron Maiden to play Caught Somewhere In Time touring Somewhere-Back-In-Time. Why, cry, why isn't it on 2008 tour set list?

I would so damned very much like Iron Maiden to play Caught Somewhere In Time touring Somewhere-Back-In-Time. Why, cry, why isn't it on 2008 tour set list?

Up the Irons!!
