@clissold08 sounds like its jammed you should try other videos on how to remove the gears its quite straightforward and your bluray should accept and eject discs then

Well the flat flex cable for my blu ray drive connecting the drive to the ps3 is broken. Not necessarily the cable but the thing the cable connect TO (which is part of the laser mech). Would it be possible for someone to ONLY fix the thing that holds the cable or would I have to replace the entire laser mech. How much would that cost?

Hi people Im having a problem with my ps3 80GB. I put a game in and about 10 minutes later all of the sound from the game goes silent and my ps3 makes a weird noise over and over again, and if I leave it, it just freezes and I have to turn it off. @APatas2k9 I'm having the exact same problem now, but also with severe graphic stretching and glitching for all my games. I think it's one of two things: the console has way too much dust in it, specifically in the Blu-Ray player and it needs to be cleaned. Or, the Blu-Ray player or lens is bad, and you need to replace it (for about $150), or get a new console. I'm going to try cleaning mine, and if it still has this problem, I'll just buy a new one whenever I can. It's like a paperweight as is.

@inkredyble Only old 80 gigs are backwards compatible. Replacing the disc drive won't do anything.

Hi Doc,I have opened my console about 50 times checking and doing things.My conclusion is the motor of my blu-ray is knackered,I have a KEM-410ACA blu-ray and am going to get a new deck.My problem is the ribbons on my circuit board to my blu-ray laser deck are the normal black clips,however one is attached by solder only (so it looks?) the other end brown plastic not like the clips.I live in the UK and my blu-ray looks abit different to all those shown here on youtube.Any ideas please? thx m8

When you take the blue ray deck/reader out, there is an orange wire, how do you remove it from the bottom and how do you wire it back in? Your hand covers how you take it out and put it back in.

1.turn the system off

2.hold the eject button

3.flip the switch on the back to turn it on and it should eject

note you will here the fans reving up higher than usal thats normal hope this helped
