hate to ruin all the praise here but either jack or brendon plays the wrong chord in the verses lol, still one of the best bands ever but i'm just pointing it out
no meg and jack are working on a new white stripes album. Meg had anxiety so they stopped the tours and stuff for a few.. and i think the racounteurs broke up thats what i heard but im not sure... but check out jacks new band the dead weather.. he plays drums and sings on some songs
They made the song just after making their first album and wanted to play it during the tour. They didn't want o wait that long and needed more songs to play because their album only had 10 songs
wasn't a big fan of Keeler until i heard this, the Bonnaroo performance, and that one performance of Level and nothing else. he's no holds barred here.
I absolutely love this song, ans the album. I own both of their albums, and two White Stripes albums, but I gotta get the rest. Just awesome new music.
i have all of the above, but idk if it makes me weird, but icky thump is my fav album (2nd is elephant 3rd is white blood cells). then again i dont own all the albums yet so i have yet to decide overall
If you like The Raconteurs, then you might want to check out my "Alternative Nation" playlists published to Rhapsody by going to my Rhapsody website which is included on my YouTube page. There's a good chance you'll like the music.
No they came up with this song around the time they released the album - isnt this video proof? it was 2006; they included the song on their latest album. Dont be a smartarse cos you'll just get ripped
yea...theyre latest album came out this year...sure they may have created the song before that...but still...it definately wasnt "back in the day"...their first album came out 2006 but they didnt put this song on it...
I believe he is using a whammy pedal to change the pitch of the notes. Having the tabs without a whammy pedal would be useless though, it just wouldn't sound as good.
The verses are single notes and and palm muted, and during the chorus the guitars stop on the Ooh o o part, theres a solo, and jacks vocals (not lyric wise voice) are much different, but nothing dramatic, they just organized it
I don't think the live vs. sounds that different than the studio vs.? They were performing this song for awhile before they recorded it to. I'll be seeing them at The Uptown Theater on 4/29 ( the first show on the tour)? so i'll tell ya how it sounds there.
its like they got bored with how they were playing it live so they just decided to mess around with it and now they screwed it up
but
that this new album will be awesome in the live concert setting
the horns will either be simulated by some keyboard
(i hope not, cool on the album, not live)
or the keyboard part will be the horn part. I mean imagine that thick driving sound of a hammond or a distorted rhodes piano roaring the chorus of the switch and the spur
Dude shut up...Live performances are allways better. They have e3nergy and more kick. So of course the album version isn't as good as the live. Stop whinning and appreciate an amazingly good album
I've listened a lot to both versions and I still can't really see any difference between the two. I haven't directly looked for differences but you would have thought if they were that different then I'd notice. They play the riff a little differently, and the live version has the little breakdown section which I don't think the studio version has, but what am I missing out on?
I agree, the album version is somehow weird, Jack's doing more silly voices on it than he usually does... But still, it's not that bad and as long as there're gonna be live shows like this:)...
i also agree, it seems the live version is a lot faster, but i still like them both. The album is great, the title track has one of the best solo's ive ever heard.
lol, Patrick Keeler is amazing! he's such a great drummer, and plays all the right notes. plus, good taste in drums (his set is the same John Bohnam had, with the exception of that smaller bass drum) big ups to Keeler
Great band...and though it is controversial to say, I prefer Jack in this set up. I always used to say that he'd do well in a full band sound. Brendan is the perfect partner and I really rated the first LP. One of the best rhythm sections going in any group. Intimate Sectretary man!
If you think they don't smoke your literally out of your mind. How do you know they don't smoke? they said it themselves that it was drug fueled, then they said it was a joke......yea right.
