What an epic game! Some observations: the field in the Coliseum then was so far from the seats it's ridiculous; unlike today, the student sections did not wear their school colors, but white, as is evident by the 2 huge blocks of white on each side of the field; the SC band is not even half as big as it is now; UCLA had a great team (unlike the atrocious teams of the last decade); this game had consequenses, unlike the recent SC-UCLA games, that have seen the Bruins beaten 11 times in 12 years.
This is bunk. It's a USC highlight film. Fact is, Gary Beban passed for over 300 yds. in the game & won the Heisman Trophy. UCLA lost by a point, but this makes it look like the Trojans dominated.
@bondurango UCLA is not only worthless on the field of battle, they are also worthless when SC whips their sorry asses in a fight. Remember when RN called a timeout two years ago with Pete? Pete and the Trojans made them pay with that classless move by throwing the bomb and scoring a late TD with 44 seconds left. The Moose was there and enjoyed every minute of the action. UCLA is worthless!!! Worthless!!! Worthless!!! Worthless!!! Worthless!!!! Worthless!!! Fight ON BABY!!!
blah, blah, blah...Even Trojan can't make a prophylactic small enough for YOUR dick. Too bad they can't make one big enough for your mouth. I guess they'll just have to give your tongue a vasectomy.
@bondurango Such words for a pristine prick from UCLick my ASS!!! The Trojans not only beat your asses in football but they also win the brawls on the field. They also have finer women and a better fight song. Also a better school since the MOOSE is a graduate!!! Decided to take a lunch break and now can feel better about going back to work and supporting little shits like you with tax dollars. Do yourself a favor and go place your head between your legs and blow yourself until your head caves.

Next time you're on a break, come on over to my beach house & I'll show you my tax records & then you can watch (since you can't play) as I slip on a Trojan & put my head between a fine woman's legs while she sings that fight song just for you.

Fight ON and be sure to stay away from the next USC-UFUCK game since you ass wipes cannot seem to beat the Trojans!!! Hey, got it!! Go beat the meat of your cell mate instead!!!!!
@greymoose1000 What happened with the "revenge" Neuheisel vowed after the game when he said "we won't foget this"? Fine - don't forget it, but don't insinuate you or your team can or will do anything about it then get soundly beaten by the Trojans - at home no less - the following season! The entire UCLA football program has never really recovered from their end-of-season loss to Miami in '98. They were 4-points away from the BCS title game. Now they can't even scrape together a winning season.
@redletter2008 Fight ON! USC and Kiffin are close to being dominant in the near future. Stanford played a great game last night and the nation had an opportunity to watch two of the greatest football powers around: USC and Stanford. USC is CLASS PERSONIFIED! Barkley will be a dominant force to watch on Sunday's in the NFL. Andrew Luck deserves the Heisman this year. UCLA on the other hand if obscure and frankly no one cares about their football team. Fight ON BABY!
@greymoose1000 What a game last night! It hurts that SC lost a game they had chances to win (& were robbed by refs who let time expire). Still, it was great seeing SC back in high gear - keeping step with a superb Stanford team ranked #4. Over 93,000 very loud fans at Coliseum was reminiscent of the glory years of last decade. Luck should & will win Heisman. Hope Barkley stays on at SC next year. SC should anihilate UCLA again this year. Bruin football is pitiful. If SC beats Oregon - then 10-2?
@redletter2008 SC has nothing to be ashamed about. There obviously was one second left in regulation for the Trojan's to attempt the game winning field goal. You must give Stanford credit though. They are a great football team.
@greymoose1000 The loss was tough, but it was a sign that Kiffen may have the program back on track after a 2-year downturn. And yes, Stanford has a great team this year. That Stanford team was one of the best SC has played since the Trojans' resurgence in '02. I think they will beat Oregon, win the Pac-12 title game & could be in the NC game. SC fans can't get too mad though. During the 34-game win streak ('03-'06), the Trojans won several close games at the end. It all went our way - THEN.
As for Gary Beban, he would have had a better game if his OL could have stopped the speedy Trojans DL. Perhaps if a blocking FB had been put in place he would have had more time to send a pass and score a few more points. Still, it was a memorable game. One I have not forgotten to this day. Beban was drafted by Redskins but did not play in the 1 year he had in the NFL.
Always Remember - NEVER forget - in the fourth quarter, Zenon Andrushyshin (sp?) had THREE attempts at field goals inside the USC 25 and MISSED ALL THREE - any one of which would have won the game for UCLA, and made "The Run" little more than a footnote, if that. Football truly IS agame of inches...
@Mickagume You are absolutely right. I was at this game and Beban played his heart out. Zenon Andrusyshin had several chances to win or tie the game and blew every one of them.
To the producers of this video, and USC fans who see nothing wrong with it.: You lack respect both for the SC-UCLA rivalvry and for one of the greatest games of all time. This is what gives USC fans the reputation for snobbery and conceit that they deserve. I would equally condemn a video that did the same in favor of UCLA.
@theresa78201 I think this a USC highlight reel. Did you happen to notice that the video opened with the prelude to "Fight On," and that it contains footage of the USC band, mascot, and their fans.
This was probably meant to tribute USC's victory, rather than the game (or the rivalry) itself.

@jayjo01 There's one thing that can never be given to OJ: decency. He was the greatest college running back I ever saw, but you tell me what defines him as a human being.
This was the greatest game I ever saw. Beban was running a truly modern offensive attack and therefore was exposed to a lot of hits. His ribs were injured. The USC defense kept penetrating and sacking him. Beban kept limping off the field.
Simpson's run crystalized how well he could run and cut back on the defense. He ran 64 yards untouched.
USC has a hard schedule. they go to ohio state, to cal, to oregon, to asu. they hv good road games, while bama and florida r pussys cuz they dont play each other

By the way, how is OJ doing in jail these days?? Enjoy your upcoming probation for Bushgate and Mayogate, Trojan fans!! A nice job of biased editing too! It seemed as if SC won, 45-0.....
Wow nice lowblows good for you if you hate USC waste your life by insulting it any chance you get. What OJ did afterwards has nothing to do with USC. Bushgate has nothing to do with USC Carroll did not know. The only thing here that is valid is Mayogate
I don't get it ... watching these clips it looks like USC won 64-0, yet I'm told it was a close game. Could you be favoring USC in your selection? It would seem so. I also remember a USC tackler lifting Gary Beban up and slamming his already cracked ribs in a great demonstration of a lack of sportsmanship. I would not be so enamored with USC's performance.
UCLA actually stuffed USC defensively. The UCLA offense was really the culprit - take away the interception for a TD and add one field goal you get UCLA by 9 - not USC by 64.
That was the first college football game I ever attended. I remembered some of those great plays, even Bebans long touchdown passes. I especially remember OJ's famous run in the 4th quarter and all of those sacks near the end of the game. I would have loved watching Zenon Andryshyshn's (sp?) missed point- after. That was the game.
Great move Pete Carrol, both teams used to wear the home jerseys until 1982, when ucla relocated their games to the Rose Bowl. Wear the dark jerseys with pride.
it's dumb that the ncaa is gonna charge the trojans a timeout for each half. both teams wearing their home jerseys is a tradition that i think should've never ended in the first place.
well, ucla doesn't play in the coliseum anymore, and USC never played at the rose bowl, but it will certainly be a great tradition to start up again, and will definitely help revive the rivalry.
In my honest opinion, I think the NCAA should make an expection for USC and UCLA to wear their home uniforms whenever they play each other and I also think in the name of tradition, they should play at the Coliseum every year and paint one endzone in UCLA Colors and the other in USC colors back when they shared the Coliseum.
@cfoster81 The NCAA HAS made that change. Thank Pete Carroll who suggested it and Rick Neuheisel who agreed to itfor the game at the Rose Bowl in 2008. Before the first snap, as the visiting team, USC was penalized one time out. UCLA immediately called a timeout to even the count. In the off season, the NCAA altered its "only one solid color" rule, allowing "home-home" jerseys if the colors and/or uniforms of the opposing teams are signifigantly different enough as to not create confusion.
Gary Beban led UCLA to a 24-5-2 record as Bruin QB from 1965-67. The Bruins were ranked in the Top 5 nationally in 1965-66 and competed for the national title in 1967. Led by QB Steve Sogge and RB O.J. Simpson, USC was 19-2-1 from 1967-68. The Trojans finished #1 nationally in 1967 and #2 in 1968.
I hear that! People like you and I suffered through that Ted Turner, Larry Smith, John Robinson, Paul Hackett debacle. 20 years of mediocrity, even if we did win a Rose Bowl in 1996. But despite the losing and frustration, we stayed true. Ucla wins one game in 2006 and all of a sudden, they're here again. Where were they the seven years before???
No chance, man. You have no idea. We were here and we were loud. I remember it well. Ucla fans' passion for bruin football doesn't even hold a candle to the passion of USC fans! Oh I'm sorry, I mean U$C. If you think I'm offended by the $, then you're wrong... it's actually a compliment!
according to john mckay's book usc studied andrushyshn and noticed his kicks were all low trajectory kicks. the trojans ended up blocking 2 of his field goal attempts and he missed that crucial extra point too
This was the first college football game I ever attended. What a thriller! Too bad for the Bruins Zenon Andrushyshn missed that point after. Glad the Trojans won.
For example, when Manchester United plays Manchester City in the English Premier League, Man U wears their red jerseys and Man C wears their light blue kits.
USC and UCLA should wear their home uniforms again when they face each other.
Watching this you'd think USC slaughtered UCLA. A little better highlight package certainly could be made~ one that is equitable and shows the closeness of the game.
Hilarious. I had no idea the "FUCLA" taunt went back that far. I know this game took place well into the 1960s, well past the end of American innocence and the "Leave It To Beaver" days. But showing a FUCLA banner? Too funny. Check it out at the 7:58 mark on the video.
This video would have been much better had it shown the good plays by both teams. The highlights belie the score - if scores weren't posted you'd think the final was 41-0. In actuality UCLA outplayed USC until OJ had that awesome run in the 4th.
Both teams always wore their home games back then - b/c it was a home game for both teams as they played in the Coliseum. I wish they'd still do it. USC-UCLA is the most colorful game, imo. Best game to watch.
Destiny Hope "Miley" Cyrus is a very famous Actress/Singer! If you post this on 5 videos you will meet Miley! If you don't...YOUR MOM WILL DIE IN tomarrow at 10:00AM!

BANG! NOW YOU HAVE THE CURSE THAT YOUR MOM WILL DIE REVERSE IT BY POSTING THIS ON 5 OTHER VIDEOS
UCLA actually outplayed SC. Beban passed for over 300 yards, Bruin receivers were wide open all day, but UCLA missed 3 FGs and a crucial PAT (difference in final score). SC made 3 BIG plays: Cashman's interception TD run, McCullough's 52-yd. reverse and OJ's 64-yd. TD run. Beban was nation's best player 1965-66-67. Best game of this rivalry.
You DO know the difference between "missed" a FG and had one BLOCKED, dont you? There were more than "3 big plays" on this tape alone! Beban got rocked repeatedly, and OJ ripped off several big runs.
beban was not the best player in the country for 3 years. his heisman win is one of the most hottly debated heisman debates ever. almost everyone believes O.J. hould have won this year and the following.
I agree. There is no question that OJ should have a two-time Heisman winner. He's one of 3 or 4 best college backs EVER. But voters won't vote for underclassmen, or in OJ's case, first year players. Hershal Walker should have won three. As a freshman he gained about 1,800 yeards (in the SEC) and carried Georgia to their only National Championship (12-0). He should have won in 81, too. He finally received it in 82 and probably repeated in 83 had he stayed for his Senior season.
Nice run ... for a murderer.

well, ucla doesn't play in the coliseum anymore, and USC never played at the rose bowl, but it will certainly be a great tradition to start up again, and will definitely help revive the rivalry.
GarrettofShaolin 3 years ago
Correction, USC played the first game in the Rose Bowl.
PiercingJeff 3 years ago
and it seems like they play in the Rose Bowl every january 1st.
dennydog10 3 years ago
In my honest opinion, I think the NCAA should make an expection for USC and UCLA to wear their home uniforms whenever they play each other and I also think in the name of tradition, they should play at the Coliseum every year and paint one endzone in UCLA Colors and the other in USC colors back when they shared the Coliseum.
cfoster81 3 years ago 2

This was a golden era for both programs.
SpartanResearch 3 years ago
Agreed. Don't forget the series produced 3 heisman winners from 65-68. No rivalry can say the same thing.

bruin fans are such fags when it comes to losing. the minute they win a fluke game they all start wearing the hats and sweatshirts again.
i wore my sc stuff when they were fuckin 5-7 under hackett (and still beat ucla). That was a great game though. down to the bitter end...
monarch243 3 years ago
I'll wear my ucla gear the day after we lose to sc, I'll wear it after we go 0-10. I'll wear it rain or shine bro.
carlylecastle 3 years ago 2
good for you, man. one of the few. glad to hear there are ucla fans with some class
monarch243 3 years ago

If you think I'm offended by the $, then you're wrong... it's actually a compliment!
rs872 3 years ago
In fact, wasn't the phrase, "At least we have basketball!" coined at ucla??? I think it was!

according to john mckay's book usc studied andrushyshn and noticed his kicks were all low trajectory kicks. the trojans ended up blocking 2 of his field goal attempts and he missed that crucial extra point too
1249emupot 4 years ago
This was the first college football game I ever attended. What a thriller! Too bad for the Bruins Zenon Andrushyshn missed that point after. Glad the Trojans won.

lancerzero2009 4 years ago 4
Yes, just like many soccer teams do in Europe.
For example, when Manchester United plays Manchester City in the English Premier League, Man U wears their red jerseys and Man C wears their light blue kits.
USC and UCLA should wear their home uniforms again when they face each other.
RCmack 3 years ago
they only did that when they played in the same stadium, then the bruins moved to the Rose Bowl in the 80s.

In actuality UCLA outplayed USC until OJ had that awesome run in the 4th.
youngman44 4 years ago
o.j. also had a great run on the kickoff return right before that last run and he had some other good runs throughout the game

Both teams always wore their home games back then - b/c it was a home game for both teams as they played in the Coliseum. I wish they'd still do it. USC-UCLA is the most colorful game, imo. Best game to watch.

SpartanResearch 4 years ago
You DO know the difference between "missed" a FG and had one BLOCKED, dont you? There were more than "3 big plays" on this tape alone! Beban got rocked repeatedly, and OJ ripped off several big runs.
proffromgview 4 years ago
beban was not the best player in the country for 3 years. his heisman win is one of the most hottly debated heisman debates ever. almost everyone believes O.J. hould have won this year and the following.
yamofaka 4 years ago

Thats funny....EVERYONE (except Bruin fans) knows Beban couldn't hold Simpson's jock strap. GET REAL
