  • My kinda watch, teutonic art.

  • Also... In the video above they show the WHOLE MOVEMENT more than once.

  • Want to see pics? GOOGLE IWC 5000 movement and then keep looking. IWC is one of the most respected brands around, you must be new to watches to not know much about them.

  • Well you know what happens when you ASS U ME. All of these are in house movement watches 1) The entire 2008 Vintage "Jubilee" collection 2) Portuguese Regulateur 3) Portuguese Tourbillon Mystere 4) Portuguese Minute Repeater 5) Portuguese Pepetual Calendar 6) Portuguese Automatic 7) Da Vinci Chronograph 8) Big Ingenieur 9) Ingenieur 10) Big Pilot If you don't think they use in house movements then MOVE ON to another watch. The FACT is they do make an in house movements
  • Just go to Timezone and watchuseek. That would be your best bet.

  • @DallasfuckingTT i am pretty certain of my assumption. Normally brands are very very proud of their manufacture status, and plaster it and proof of it everywhere. All i see from IWC is dodgy wording and no real photos of their own movements. They seem to make their own modules, which is already a very good thing.

  • They do testing in house, BTW this movement in the watch above is an in house IWC movement.

  • @DallasfuckingTT Could you give some links to show that the movement they make is in house, aka, built by ppl in the IWC house?

Also, could you show these criteria? (the in house testing they do instead of cosc). Ive been googling around and all i see suggests that IWC uses a base movement form ETA and adds its own winding system. Normally when a company makes its own movememts, they take every chance of showing pictures of it, but IWC only shows the winding part, which made me think that.

  • Big inge looks nice. But as somebody said 5001 movement cannot keep accurate time due to low beat mechanism. And the strap is not in good quality. The facts are well know among IWC fans and you can find the comments in the watch forums. Also, non inner case Ingenieur is a kind of joke by IWC. I own 3227 (Automatic), 3725 (Chrono) and mid-size for my wife. I really love them.

  • "Non-inner case Ingenieur is kind of a joke by IWC" Totally agreed. Why did they throw the heritage out of the window is beyond me...

  • IWC would be trying to new-rich people with the nice styling, higher price tag and not so high mechanism. Do you think IWC can explain reasons for price difference between Big Inge and 3227 Inge? Come back Mr. Lothar Schmidt to IWC from Sinn !! Stay away money collectors from IWC !!

  • i'm from Schaffhausen :D

  • shaisen then

  • 5001 movement keeps poor time, case dings up quick, and the strap falls apart within a month. Garbage. Get an Omega.

  • haha ya and the best part is you can get Omegas at Costco ha ha loser!

  • Comment removed

  • You can get a lot of good watches at Costco. Dipshit.

  • And I am sure you can get "good" suits at Wal Mart too. lol Oh no dont call me dipshit that is so clever I may have to kill myself now....

  • this is actually quite right...

  • Utter rubbish. I have 3 Omegas and two IWCs. While the Omegas are very good watches, the IWC definitely has higher precision - and one of my Omegas is a St Moritz with the co-axial escapement. My 'ancient technology' low-beat F.A Jones holds at +2 seconds per day consistently.

  • And I own the watch in question. I've replaced the strap twice, and had it serviced twice. It still gains 3 minutes a week. This is not the same movement as your mechanical wind IWC. Furthermore, like Omegas, most IWC's use an ETA or Valjoux base.

  • IWC goes to town on these movements They are hardly ETAs when finished. Omega as well w/ the 2500,1120,8500

  • @DallasfuckingTT I am not very familiar with what IWC does to these movements, if they change the balance, hair spring, palet fork, escapewheel etc. then you are right. but somehow i doubt that they change all those(maybe the balance, but then its most probably changed for another Nivarox, so thats still ETA), they might also change the barrel spring, if they add modules to the watch, like breitling). Im still dissapointed that such a big brand doesnt do theire own thing.

  • IWCs testing is above and COSC standards.

  • @DallasfuckingTT Of course they are, otherwise they wouldnt pass COSC.

  • @lolcat23 They don't set them to COSC they have a higher standard that COSC and don't send them to COSC for testing.

  • @DallasfuckingTT so where do they send them?

  • @madmacstew one case of a nicely regulated low-beat isnt proof that low-beat is better. The fact that your omegas run worse accuracy wise is also dependant on so many things that accuracy alone isnt a deciding factor in quality. So your reasons are not really solid. Not saying your low-beat is a bad watch. im saying that for 1000 watches. low-beat is harder to regulate decently. Even if yours does.

  • To only wear if you have a big ass wrist. At 46mm with the crown, this watch looks way to big on many people. The normal ingenieur looks good and the midsize seems a tiny bit too small.

  • How do you tell a GENUINE IWC watch from a REPLICA?

  • ask the guy who youre buying it from in the alley way

  • Very easily, if you know what to look for. I have a real F.A. Jones, and I know the differences between it and the fake version (pointed balance cock for one).

  • sehr schön / very nice
