  • We played it at Break Time lol. I have no idea how to disable it, other then ripping out the speakers haha

  • haha I played this at school on a BBC Microsystem computer :D

  • @GDWGlos How did you disable the speaker on the BBC? There's no volume control and it's a dead giveaway to the teacher once this tune starts blaring! :D

  • omg loved this game.

  • Oooh that music takes me back :-)

  • Those glitches at e.g. 1:56 used to really annoy me!

  • this seems like a very delightful variation on a very common game formula. The music is great and Repton's movements are so funny.

  • I love the music although it hurts my ears! :P

  • Repton is a Funky Green Man?

  • Someone should replicate repton elements in minecraft.

  • а как пройти 10 уровень который называется Octopus там внизу слева и справа камни падают на голову и алмаз остаётся под камнем ПОМОГИТЕ ПОЖАЛУЙСТА

  • that's so cool!

  • back when gaming was fun. gaming really has changed for the worse.

  • a great game from the masters superior soft!

  • 2:01 bug xD

  • best "rocks and diamonds" game.

  • I loved Repton and I love Black and White Rag

  • those green men always scared the bejesus out of me...

  • And you can now play this on your iPhone - so cool!

  • awesome game! is now coming out on the iPhone and iPod touch .... check out iRepton

  • This has been driving me insane for the last few years, trying to remember the name of this game. I am so happy that i have found it again, i remember playing it when i was about 6 years old.

  • @dan0001 how could you forget!!! Repton 1 2 and 3 on the BBC!

  • @dan0001 lol!! same here!

  • The computers i played with

    from then till now:

    BBC computer

    Commondore 64

    NES

    SNES

    PC

    N64

    PS2

    XBOX 360

  • The music is actually "Black and White Rag", an old ragtime piece for piano.

  • I sometimes wonder what my 7 year old self would do if I went back in time and showed myself something insane like Uncharted Drake's Fortune lol... think my head would explode. Back then things like this were the height of gaming fun! My how time changes, and so quickly...

  • Ahhh, the good old days when life was still OK....yeah, love these old games...

  • Classsssssic!

  • ah so many happy memories. Now that kids is proper gameplay! Fallout 3 SF4, Call of Duty. Noway REPTON!

  • Lol just dialed this up to listen to the music!

  • i used to love repton also!

i remember the password "awkward" but i think it might have been for repton 3 or something!

  • Life of Repton...

The last lvl as O.A.P. had the password "Shallow" and was impossible! =)

  • What a great game- I remember thinking, "Games can't get any better than this!!!"

  • Funny :)

  • I had a bbc master compact. Loved this game, and REVS!

  • Favourite game on the basis of the music alone!

  • REPTON ! many a time as a KId ...with the Snow days keeping warm playing REPTON still have My BBC B 32k and many games !

  • Password: Salamander.

    Password: Chameleon.

How do I still remember all this??

  • Yes me too! a chain of passwords that ultimately had me convinced that 'The Kraken' was a genuine reptile.

  • great game ,altho it used to freak me out a bit....dunnow why

  • same here. There was a hint of creepyness to it when you were 5. Almost a claustrophobic feel when you know a boulder was gonna crush you in the next move.

  • yeh and when you knew you were trapped you had to be crushed

  • AWESOME!!!

  • this was my 1st ever game i played when i was about 4yrs old and still love it to this very day would love to see a full playthrough off them all. but cant find any on YT

  • I spent absolutely ages playing the whole repton series as a kid. LOved it. Still do. You can use a free program called BEEBEM to play BBC games (really good emulator). The PC version can be found at superiorinteractive . com (it's sort of an up to date version).

  • Seem to remember that this was one of the first games that had an editor level pack with it - remember spelling "ARSE" out in dragon eggs...

  • What a game!

  • Thanks so much for putting this online. What memories!

  • When there was SNOW on the ground and i had no School for the day..or more....this I would play !! Completd this !! LOVED IT !

  • Love it! I used to play this at my childminders before school when I was a kid!

  • This brings back so many memories I was mad on Repton as a child! I even won a design a Repton game in Micro User once! :) Did anyone else have the editor thing and use it to create levels that couldn't logically be completed? (due to eg rocks blocking you in, spirits going round and round in infinite circles etc)

  • Repton? That's the name of a public school in Derbyshire

  • I loved this game and the sequels. I used to love to make maps and edit the sprites. Fantastic how they can fit so much fun into 32k!! Gonna download the emulator now!!

  • THIS was *THE* BBC B game, it didn't get any better than this. The crafy puzzles, the blaring music... awesome. Spawned many wannabes, many from Superior themselves. I loved Repton, drew him all over my school books and everything. I had every sequel (Life of Repton was my fave, late ones were a bit weak). As iconic as Mario or Sonic in my book! Games like this are why I've never parted with my Beeb.

  • This was a great game, but Elite was the daddy on the BBC B :)

  • I had every single one of the Repton games on my BBC Master. Each time my Dad went on a business trip he'd bring the next one back - Repton 1,2,3, Through Time, Around the World in 40 Screens, Life of Repton. They expanded my mind. I had DREAMS about Repton when I was 7 or so.

  • I used to love this game, one of the passwords was "giantclam" and "salamander" i think.

  • One of the most addictive games ever & a true classic. In fact i still play it with an emulator & my daughter who is 12 plays it all the time & reckons that it is one of her favourite games :-)

  • Wow, haven`t played this since first school :) Very smoothing scrolling, it`s more advanced than I`d remembered !

  • I had a bbc master compact with repton- lucky me

  • Looks a lot like a scrolling wink Mr. Do!, and not a bad one, either.

  • I often wndered what a terrapin was, too!

    Brilliant game! I miss my BBC... ;_;

  • classic! I wondered how many other people had this in their lives! I can even remember the passwords! What the hell is a terapin I use to think...

    thanks!
