why did developers build now empty commercial offices during the housing bubble when there was no real demand for them? Capitalism has flaws, one major flaw being as long as something is profitable it will continue to be made. the second it isnt the prodict is ditched. So we are building hoses that at the SALE of it to some sucker, is profitiable. 50 years from now who cares who owns it. We will stop building energy unviable houses when dumbass people stop buying them and demand alt. energy home
So.... what's wrong with $55/bl oil? Doesn't that mean slackening demand? Global recession is good from a Peak Oil standpoint, because the decreasing production : decreasing demand curves are more balanced...
It all gives a more gradual period for Oil Sands or alternative energy or permanent demand destruction to make up for the lost oil production. Isn't that what you want?
It does mean a lower global standard of living... but at least it doesn't happen as suddenly! =)
at last, somebody has noticed the futility of building homes completely reliant on gas central heating, most people look at me as if i am mad when i mention it.
An additional 30 Million bbls/day... that's more than 3 times current Saudi's daily production. Three brand new Saudi Arabias... in 6 years (?) Gotta love those IEA experts.
The probability of that happening is so low that I think I won't change my plan of installing a wood stove in my living room.
