  • Oops. Houston is also Martha.

  • Bruno is Richard Hunt, Phil is Martin P. Robinson, and Dwayne and Dick are Kevin Clash. Pam Arciero does all the girls except for Felicity, who is performed by M. Elizabeth Houston.

  • ........I'am an Edge of Night fan and this

    is one cool skit.

  • Sadly, they're probably not going to show this again on Sesame Street, considering three of the four soaps parodied here, have been off the air for many years.

  • Is it illegal to show parodies of things that are no longer around?

  • Lol, Phil looks HORRIFIED to be out of his house.

  • lol I always thought this was soooooo dumb and during that "Love of school" thing I'd always stick my middle finger up at the TV and my mom would yell at me XD

  • This brings back memories of how exciting the first day of school used to be (in elementary that is!)

  • How awesome...I so remember this...and they used the old ABC soaps theme of Love in the Afternoon and nodded to two ABC soaps *All My Children and Edge of Night), one NBC soap (Another WOrld), and one CBS soap (Love of Life.

I was one of those kids who watched the PBS shows then tuned in to the soaps so this is koo.

  • Love the wah wah at :58. Great clip! I haven't seen this in way over 20 years.

  • who ever found this ur da best, it cant get no better than this

  • i always thought in the very begining the pencil pointed to the right...then i got proved wrong everytime...it points left.

  • Who does Kevin Clash voice here? Dick? And I think I hear Carroll Spinney's voice in the chorus.

  • THE ANNOUNCER SOUND LIKE HE WOULD WORK IN HARMONY HILL FUNERAL HOME geez

  • DAYAM LOL LOL

  • this is hilarious!

  • Kudos to "Sesame Street" for the nod to "Another World"! :-D Great segment! "Schooooooool in the Afternooooooooon!" LOL! Thanks for this!

  • LOVE IT! And I'm speaking as both an old school Sesame Street fan, no pun intended, and an old school (1989-early '95) Another World fan!

  • Oops... I should have watched the clip all the way through. Scratch that last comment!

  • Isn't there another clip like this? I think it was called "All My School".

  • I've been looking all over for this clip! Thanks for posting it!

  • 1:28 Bruno looks completely dense! hahahahhahhahah

  • DAYAM HAHAHAHAHAHHA

  • lol I loved these spoofs. They even got the logos of the soaps they were spoofing accurate. The original book for the All My Children logo for instance.

  • i like Bruno. Bruno is Kwel.

  • oh man i remember this...the teacher's mouth scared me tho.

  • "Love of School"?? But... WHAT ABOUT NAOMI?!

  • I remember this pretty well. Sounds like Marty and Pam did most of the voices here.

  • great clip...one of several i recall. this had not been stated until now...does anybody(besides myself) note the splotchwork above bruno in the "another school" spoof?...it looks like a flatten spider! LOL! and to add there a few others of those slotch works i DO happen to like as well.

  • Hahahaha, I remember being 3 and 4 and watching this segment....then once the show finished and my mom took over the remote, I got a glimpse of the REAL soap operas they were parodizing! NOBODY start criticizing, I'm sure a bunch of you did the EXACT same thing as kids lol!

  • ok music is a little bit freaky!!!

  • this used to creep me out

  • If WCTW has a local newscast, Gabi Rodriguez & Miles Robinson are the lead anchors.

  • I could never understand these kids. I hated school.

  • Phil looks like he's dying for a fix :-)

  • by any chance do you have any of the "here is your life" clips? (besides the one with Oak tree)

  • Wow, I remember this. This brings be back! This was 1986 or 1987?

  • Well, considering that Edge of Night was nearing the end of its run, I'll have to say around 1984.

  • with the promo taht they were spoofing, did ABC do it like LOVEEEEEEEEEEEE IN THE AF TER NOOOOOOOOOOOOON!?

  • I think the singing part for ABC's Love in the Afternoon promos was "looooove is eeeeeasy".

  • If they were to re-air this bit, I wonder if they would change the WCTW call letters or not

  • i should've known they were parodizing love of life, only because 1 clip on this site, a vlip of the bonus round from the 1975 cbs game show now you see it, they have the closing credits, and the announcer (Johnny Olson) says "stay tuned 4 "love of life" next over most of these cbs stations"

  • Only THREE stars?! This is great! Plus we get to get to hear what Jon Stone sounds like. You're right, MacLeaper, some kids would probably think it's serious by the tone of characters (I probably would have), but now it's very funny to me! Bruno has a nice Richard Hunt-Jersey accent, but who's doing the other kids? Karen Prell of Fraggle Rock fame was only on one season, but Martha might be her.

  • Jon Stone almost sounds like Fred Rogers.

  • I know the spoofs here:

    "The Edge of Night" (CBS)

    "Another World" (NBC)

    "All My Children" (ABC)

    "Love of Life" (CBS)

Imagine placing preschoolers in front of the actual shows they were parodizing...

  • There ain't no schools in the afternoon exxept there's night school which some of my friends would go there.

  • A spoof of school with soap operas

  • Wow- I remember seeing this one a good bit as a kid. Haven't thought about it in years- but it all came back when I saw it. I always thought the scenes were so dramatic- inducing some serious "ooh!" moments as a kid.

  • I remember this. Thanks for posting this up here.

  • Ha! I remember the promo they were spoofing here - ABC's "Love in the Afternoon" from probably the late 70s, I'm guessing.
