  • wheres part 15?

  • The only way to find the higgs is to make a particle accelator that encompasses the eniter perimeter of the earth, oh by the way it will cost all the money in the whole world also

  • @NesQuiick619 What?

  • why did they choose to accelerate and smash protons in the LHC instead of say, nuetrons or electrons?

  • @mcRioRemedy This is only what I think but I guess they could easily isolate a proton by taking the single electron off from a hydrogen atom. And the reason why they don't use electrons is because they have barely any mass and according to E=mc^2 they don't have as much energy in them.

  • @TheSteady0 aye that makes sense. thanks for the answer

  • Whenever they show the inside of the LHC they should play music from Half-Life.

  • I predicted that he would hit the LHC at the beginning of the video. I was wrong. But the only reason he didn't hit the LHC for emphasis was because he never stopped moving.

  • I think if they want to make the big bam they should make the speed c2 not just c and that is impossible

  • "wireless power allows the ability for people to obtain energy in unlimited amounts"

    ... I stopped reading there

  • @NScott45 I did the same thing. I can only hope that this was a (VERY LARGE) typo or confused statement, or that the the individual that wrote it didn't seriously believe it.

  • You've explained the LHC three times now.

  • @CrankyStorming I don't quite understand how these are 'episodes', I mean 15 three minute episodes is a one hour special with commercials. I don't know why it was originally meant to be in this format; clearly his identical triple explanation of the LHC is evidence for it to be designed as 15 different 'episodes'. I guess they assume attention span of youtube is about 3 minutes.

  • @CrankyStorming I don't think he can get over it.

  • @CrankyStorming thats good cause now it will permanently stick in our heads lol

  • I want one.

  • Thanks for the vid.. Just... Please add subs afterwards.. Because the pronouncing sound is not clear.. So it's hard to understand the meaning...

  • Will will happend after Big Bang from this machine?

  • go Europe ... by the way stop whit stupid analogys , there is to many degrees of diference, is time to do better use of logics , the redshift of galaxys is another shot on the foot analogy stoping us of better understanding,

  • go Europe ...

  • I didn't know Keanu Reeves could speak with an English accent!

  • Very nice series..Just wondering why this "guys" name names like "up", "down", 'strange", "top", "charm".....aw!.. funny names...lol

  • "the LHC is certainly, by far, the biggest jump into the unknown" // no guts no glory!

  • 2) It is funded by and built in collaboration with over 10,000 scientists and engineers from over 100 countries as well as hundreds of universities and laboratories.

  • 1) The Large Hadron Collider was built by the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) with the intention of testing various predictions of high-energy physics, including the existence of the hypothesized Higgs boson and of the large family of new particles predicted by supersymmetry.

  • I hope they can prove that Gravitation is the result of spacetime flowing into the center of mass or as to say Gravity is a manifestation of that.

Aliens use deterium based ultra compact particle accelerators to accelerate spacetime around their space elevator vehicles. General and special relativity along with the uncertainity principle govern that..

    See: Moving Dimensions Theory(MDT).

  • If I was a particle accelerator I would get dizzy.

  • check out niikola teslas particle accerator it would have given wireless energy to everyone on the planet 100 yrs ago! it was called wardenclyffe look it up! it makes such a high voltage that it accerates electron fields right through the earth setting up resonant waves and allowing everyone on the earth to have free power. i demonstrated a small scale model so we can start learning and build that instead of a CERN accelerator.

  • it can transfer power but not voltage - the two are not related in the same way

the idea is flawed on so many levels - the idea of an electron field through the earth isnt going to impress science.

  • Voltage is easy to create... your making plenty of it right now! It's the movement that makes electrons useful, not the electrons themselves. This is simple physics... the work function- as it's called.

  • the work function is the amount of energy required to liberate one electron from the surface of a metal. It is used in the Photoelectric effect i am unclear on how this relates to my post.

  • @boxa888 Hey everyone "boxa888" apparently knows more about science than all these jerks at CERN with their fancy PHDs in theoretical physics.

  • @tapelegs hey! !thanks alot lol. the tesla tower could do alot more good for the planet as well, wireless power allows the ability for people to obtain energy in unlimited amounts, set the structures on water falls and renewable resources and the energy would be plentiful, you could set up in the middle of a desert or ocean and have energy to run electric machinery. the amount of money would not even be half the CERN to provide a basic wireless power system and do alot more good. peace.

  • @boxa888 wow. I agree with @NScott45 .

    please retake 7th grade science.

  • i'm not sure if this post is win or fail.

  • lol. win win win

  • Boooooo...

  • Boooooo hooooo

  • 1. weather the higgs boson exists, where all the antimatter went, and several other things

    2. yes

    3. no, shit forms in your colon

    4. no, god is supernatural, and science makes no comment on the supernatural.

  • hey what did i write? i cant see it casue so many atheists gave me a thumbs down lol....

but seriously, what did i write ?

  • Click reply on your comment to see what it said. And it's grammar police, not atheists, who wanted to rid the world of your blighted train of thought.

  • haha very funny.... yep, must have been the grammar police..

  • I wish I had one of these.

  • @xfinchx2008x what would you do with it?

  • @xfinchx2008x they r on ebay now

  • how many times in this series was that lil blurb about the LHC repeated =P

  • Yeah I know, good show, but one blub is enough. So annoying.

  • Are you aware that mini black holes are created daily, in our own atmosphere. If they do create a black hole it will be even smaller than the ones in our atmosphere and will disappear as quick as it came.

Also we have been smashing particles into each other for ages without disaster striking. This is not a new thing. The only difference is that it is bigger than the previous ones and therefore you can get higher energy collisions.

  • when will results from the particle accelerator be completed and its discoveries are published or posted for public viewing.

  • when it starts working =P

  • who the hell is funding this project?

  • CERN

  • 16 billion dollars for the the biggiest shoop da whooper ever attempted

  • light goes at the same speed at 299,792,458 m/s no matter what lets just imagine you had a giant race track and you raced light no matter how fast your going the speed of light will still be going

    299,792,458 m / s faster than you

  • why is the speed of ligth the maximus speed?

  • i'm wondering that too lol

  • Because photons are jealous and greedy

  • Because all electromagnetic radiation travels at the same speed through a vaccum.

  • The truth is, the speed of light is the maximum speed because we measure this to be true. There's no way around it: you need infinite energy to get up to the speed of light (unless you *are* light).

    It's just experimental fact.

  • unfortunately, unless you're composed ONLY of photons, you CAN'T accelerate to 100% speed of light, your mass would become infinite, you'd have NO depth dimension and time would stop for you, or at least what ever of you is made of matter....

  • It's 3.00 m/s/s (or 3 m/s^2) depending upon material entered....If you'd like,I can give you an experiment with choc chips to prove the speed of light....

  • I did the experiment already, actually, for fun. And by the way, the speed of light is about 3.00*10^8 m/s, NOT 3.00m/s/s (which isn't even a speed).

You are also correct about length contraction and time dilation, though. (However, modern physics has changed its mind about changing mass, instead we keep it constant and say the momentum is relativistic, instead. Same thing, different math.)

  • Umm, about the speed, actually the correct term is velocity and it's 3.00 m/s each second, or m/s^2. It's noted that way because it's displacement is constant, it doesn't accelerate until it hits an object.

  • No. "Velocity" is a term used to mean a vector quantity with a direction in space, and a magnitude equal to the speed of the object. So, a ray of light does have a velocity, and it has a speed, too. In fact, light, unlike matter, can be given an absolute speed, because that speed is constant regardless of the observer and his motion.

I don't know where you're coming from with 3m/s/s. That's an acceleration. A speed is distance per unit time, metres/second. m/s. And it's much faster than 3m/s.

  • Umm, sort of, speed is a scalar (no magnitude), but, yes, velocity is a vector. Now the scalar component of velocity can be stated as speed (delta distance/ delta time) but light's velocity (only in a vacuum) is 3.00 x 10^8 m/s^2. It's not customary to list only the speed, for again, if it enters matter (solid, liquid or gas) it's speed (hence velocity will change). That's where the refractive index comes in and why a straw in a glass of water looks cut in half.

  • Ok. Dude. I already know. Everything you've said. But metres per second squared is an ACCELERATION. Not a SPEED nor a VELOCITY.

The speed of light (yes, in a vacuum) is 3.00*10^8m/s. This speed changes depending on the medium, but it's still in m/s.

You're just WRONG. Look it UP. Jesus.

  • "This stuff is dangerous.."

    Why would you think that?

It's just a particle accelerator. The universe has been doing the same for billions of years, and at higher energies too.

  • If they can make something extraordinairy like this, then why can't they make things like, E.G Im not a nerd but, lightsabers, or Floating cars. You would think that the structers and technology that they have put into this experiment, that they could do something else too

  • Not to sound like an ass, but what in the fuck would you do with a lightsaber or a flying car?

  • I dont know wat you could do with any of them, but as i said it was an Example

  • my mom's math teacher was so fkn smart that he went to work there

  • Lol there is a sound from Half Life 2, when it shows the big bang im very good at identifying sounds

  • thats in belgium!!

  • Well there you go folks it's broken. We're just going to have to wait... On 10 September 2008 the LHC accelerated its first proton streams, only to have operations suspended on 12 September 2008 due to equipment failure.[3] Owing to the already planned winter shutdown, the collider will not be operational again until the spring of 2009.[4][5]

  • You all are to pessimistic.

I'm confident this will go well.

  • lhccountdown(.)info for latest info and countdown

  • What did this thing teach us

  • nope americans are good in building shitty things as nuclear bombs..

  • WTF is this? The weapon' of mass destruction??

  • Almost every year we get these dooms day predictions. Well maybe this experiment does sound scary bacause of the size of it, but I'll bet experiments just as dangerous as these have been made before, the publicity just haven't been just as big.. And come on the people are experts.. They KNOW what they are doing, we can't just panic because some ignorant people say that there's going to be a super big black hole and we'll die. I just don't believe it,,,

  • TOTAL DEATH AND YOU WILL BE THERE LIVE

    I hope you die

  • no, it didn't, they sent one beam clockwise, then one beam anti-clockwise, particles WILL NOT COLLIDE TODAY I WAS LISTENING TO THE RADIO AND WEB CAST!

When the collisions begin to create COSMIC RAYS to the power of 5000,000,000,000 electron volts (is that right? more 0's?) I'd begin to worry, and trying to equate that amount of electromagnetic energy into joules and saying its like two snails hitting each other is nonsense, also what does the speed of light + the speed of light do to particles?

  • cavemen like me would impale you from a wall with a knife if we ever physically met in this dimension. so the person who invented nukes is less involved than the one who fires it is that what your saying? what other application is there mining with nukes?? THEY MADE THEM TO KILL DICK.

also if anyones thinking of laughing at the black hole theory so far don't because the collisions haven't happened yet :)

  • Haha well it happened. So LOL at your face. :D

  • they didnt do it yet it was just a test the real ones on october 21st

  • The INTERNET was born at CERN.

    Remember this.

  • People always think of the end of the world, just like in 2000, Y2K when everyone thought computers would fail and we would die.

The world won't end anytime soon.

  • thankyou , at least someone understands

  • @cero10 2012's around the corner.

  • @cero10 ...How can you say that? First...Only God know that.

    Second....The world could end tomorrow.

We have enough Nuclear warhead to destory the world many times over and that's just one of MANY threats to mankinds.

  • With all the cash it took to "maybe figure a theory", we could have solve how to get rid of O bama!!and maybe put the upteen millions into our own pockets......

  • This is the begining of the.......END ! Only Watch bcz somthing else you cant :|

  • guys i got a question

did they start up the LHC yet???

  • in september

  • thank

  • its tomorrow i think...(Wednesday)

  • yer ir is

  • u think yea tomorrow im so scared

  • no october 21st is when they begin the collision and start doomsday

  • look an idea:if this is posible why we cant use electrons or fotons for the internet conexion cables,to be like light impulse?

  • What do you think fibre optic cable is? :-P

  • your wrong, optic fibre slows light of speed, i mean tata fotons travel in vid, like in space.

  • my newtwork certainly doesn't move speed light

  • this is the begining of a new age

  • if they are why we are alive, they were not activated?

  • Actually, the majority of every single luxury you enjoy today is the fruits of leaving scientists to do their job.

  • It's not scientists' fault that imperialistic leaders wage wars upon each other. It's certainly not science's fault that what we find is misused to kill each other. If some asshole takes a car and drives over you you can blame neither the car nor the engineers that constructed it. It's the stupidity of people who misuse the knowledge we acquire from scientific process that's in fault. But of course a caveman like you can't understand that because between your ears there's only shit.

  • this was supposed to be a reply to kkinsane but.. that's utube for u

  • You ignorant idiots..

If the world worried like this in our previous ages, we would still be in the stone age if people like you were in control.

Just let the SCIENTISTS do their job. YOU people go back to watching your reality TV shows, or go shopping... Just SHUT the FUCK UP!

  • Yes :)) this is funny ! Did you heared about Intergalagtic Protection ? Earth is in it ;)

  • Yeah, like the atom bomb.

  • Of course they do...they are the leading experts in theoretical physics from all over the world. They don't know what they will find, but they know what they're doing. You think the European Union would fund something that has no (short term) economic value if they hadn't been satisfied that it was worth doing?

  • no your right they dont know anything about what they are messing with. I mean they just put some scraps of metal togheter and built that thing right. I mean its immpossible that they are experts in this field? BUt i mean they should have hired some retard from youtube that knows everything.

  • the size of the explotion, when two particles hit each other is the size of your fist.. just imagine how many particles hit each other during an atomic reaction

  • If they were able to create a black hole, it would decay almost instantaneously

  • According to current theory. It also being the case that current theory is what they are aiming to expand and refine with the experiments in question.

  • how do you use a particle accelerator to create a singularity of any size? its much more likely to see some kind of accidental out of control fusion/fission reaction (boom) but even then, you'd think the machines will start to break well before any real hazard level is reached

  • oh shush and stop trying to stop science happening

the chances of that are so slim that its not evne worth bothering about

the company called cern - its a global partnership of countries not a company

  • Walter L. Wagner, has been trying to stop more than one research project.. Nothing ever happened.. Why? Because walter hasn`t got a clue what he`s talking about...

  • YOUR watching too much spider man

  • kl

i didnt get ne of dat....

  • I got one in my garden its 100 killometers.

And it goes 100% the speed of light.

  • And I'm Dexter.
