  • probably the noblest expression of the christian experience, i have had the privilege of coming to know.

  • Thank you for placing this wonderful recording on You Tube. Like many other people I should like to learn who the choir is? I have listened to all other versions of this wonderful hymn on You Tube and in my opinion this is the best. The clarity & annunciation of the words puts it way ahead of the rest. Any chance of finding out who they are? Many thanks for a moving performance. Philip.

  • I love this! What group is singing it?

  • i love the coldplay song, i really relate to it. it's actually helped me through very hard times.

  • Such hamony, and the words are superb! I could listen to this piece for days on end. Thank you for posting.

  • science ftw

  • @Drnaferious Indeed, science is a most interesting field, one that I and many of my fellow Christians are educated in and even utilise for our professions. Why you felt the need to make that exclamation on this particular video I'm not quite sure. Surely you're not suggesting that science and religion can not mix, as that is an incredibly ignorant comment, one that I'm sure you would not make.

  • Awful song.

  • Never was love, dear King

    Never was grief like Thine

Blessed Lord Jesus, I am amazed.

  • I love this song, we're singing this at school! <3

    Beautiful rendition.

  • Beautiful rendition, thanks for posting.

  • I love this song! I almost cry every time i sing it in church. thank you for posting this! God Bless everyone this Lent/Easter Season!

  • Thank you so much for posting one of my favourite hymns, I haven't heard this for so many years!

May God Bless You and Yours ;)

  • I have listened to this music, played by organist and enjoyed it each time. I wish I knew where the recording took place? What church? What choir? What organisth? Can't seem to find info. Help anyone?

  • Amazing... Just an amazing hymn.

Amazing the love Our Father has shown to us... He gave himself to die, forever to forgive us...

He's coming back. And soon... We must wait like a servant waiting for his master to return. Diligent and alert.

  • This song makes me weep! We sang this today, thank you and God bless you for posting it!!!

  • The ONLY version of this text. BOO to all other versions!!

  • Could you please tell me the name of the CD you found this hymn? It's a great rendition.

  • May the Lord Jesus be worshipped and glorified for ever. This hymn encapsulates the Christian faith so beautifully (and powerfully). Give me the strength Lord to think of these words in my final agony.

  • "This hymn encapsulates the Christian faith so beautifully (and powerfully). "

    Amen! Well stated!

"Give me the strength Lord to think of these words in my final agony."

    Amen!

We need to be mindful every day of our Dear Lord's suffering, not only on the cross, but for the loss of those who do not accept Him as Lord and Savior.

    Peace be with you,

    marcie

  • Your idea of lack of interest on the part of God toward humankind is most entertaining given His office as both creator and redeemer. This beautiful hymn testifies to the fullness that God gave of himself for humankind. Perhaps you were expecting hocus pocus rather than entertaining the idea that God intends for humans to take a loving interest in human affairs. It seems like you have difficulties regulating yourself.

  • This is a Lenten Song that our choir sings during Lent

  • "Yet cheerful He to suffering goes".

What wondrous love we have from Christ.

  • My favourite Easter hymn now for some years since I really thought about the words. Beautiful tune really sets it off nicely. Praise God and Jesus, a happy Easter to all.

  • @thanks51: God should be praising Myalgic Encephalopathy? Bizzarre.

  • God made you, and died for you - that's as affirming of you as it gets.

  • @eatyerbeans If you mean the god referred to in the bible, that is modified Babylonian mythology, Jesus did die and he is still dead and never coming back Jesus is dead He was executed for his crime of blasphemy against god and was executed by humans because since god is fictitious, he has no power to carry out the rules that humans have created in the name of god.

Jesus is dead forever, god is imaginary, Christians have been duped.

  • @theworldturnsdaily Really? Tell me then, what Christian doctrines do the babylonians of old share?

  • OMG THIS IS THE BEST SONG IVE EVER FREAKING HEARD! May the lord be praised!

  • Our choir sang this last week, and it brought tears to my eyes while I sang it!

  • Remarkably beautiful!!!!

  • There is only one thing in life that makes me wonder that there might indeed be a god, and that is music. Why does some music have such a powerful effect on us? Listening to a beautiful hymn like this I can't help thinking, is there something greater than us at work here?

  • antionodcz, indeed yes.

  • Dear anton, God is speaking to you through the hymns by the power of the Holy Spirit How wonderful is that? The Lord longs for us to speak to Him & for us to know Him through Scriptures, prayers & songs

Psalm 104:33-34 I will sing to the LORD all my life; I will sing praise to my God as long as I live. May my meditation be pleasing to him, as I rejoice in the LORD.

    Psalm 147:1 Praise the LORD.

How good it is to sing praises to our God, how pleasant and fitting to praise him!

  • This is right up there in my top three favourite hymns - I used to sing with the Pittsburgh Compline Choir, and we did this hymn every Palm Sunday. It never fails to bring the tears... just beautiful. And I love the way the organist is really painting the text.

  • @posaune16

I share every word you made in your post. Thank you for writing it so clearly.

  • I agree with you soulsista. This song full encapsulates the Lord's life and ministy in true theology. O who am I , that for my sake My Lord should take frail flesh , and die?

  • Thanks for posting this marvellous hymn!

  • Thanks be to God for the victory we have in our Lord and only Saviour Jesus Christ! Romans 5:1-2 (KJV).

+ Fr. Philip Mullen, Orthodox Lutheran Christian Pastor, Columbus, Ohio, USA.
