I have a much easier way to build a tall bike. I call it a Tilt Bike. Watch my vids to see more. I have 20, so far. Takes about 90 minutes to put one together. Real easy to mount and dismount, handles real good, fun to ride.
Think, "mounting a horse while its walking". Stand on the left of the bike, put your left foot on the left peddle and hop along on the right foot getting some speed going and then push yourself up with the left leg and thrown the right leg over the saddle. Yea, I should have put it in the video.
@boaarrdderr628: Leave the brakes on the lower bike stock, we had V-brakes front and rear. You will need to get longer cable for the rear brake - ask your LBS to order a tandem cable. As the housing comes on a large spool, you can get as much as you need. While your at it get two tandem shifter cables for the front and rear derailleurs.
@csc104 thanks a lot your video helped a lot. we actually used the back break and transferred it to the front because it wouldn't reach (so there is only a front break). It rides great and we had no other troubles except the chain falling off and we just used your idea. Thanks a a lot.
im trying to get some old bikes together to make one but i want to make it reall tall so I want to put the top frame on upsidedown to get even more height
A big problem with making anything higher than a double decker with standard frames is that the seat tube angle moves the rider's center of gravity backwards as the height is increased. This makes tall bikes prone to wheelie. Make the bike high enough and the COG moves behind the rear wheel making the bike unridable.
@gk800 You might want to check with your local bike shop (LBS). Its surprising how many people leave their bikes and never pick them back up. They might also have some old cranks, etc. to give away once they learn what your up to.
how did you weld it? TIG? MIG??? stick??

Not to crap on your otherwise neat project, but you lost me at bent-coat-hanger-as-chain-tensioner.
