  • Devotion to god is a choice. You have to want it yourself. You can learn from a priest, guru, imam, rabbi, about God, but this is not enough. You have to be a seeker YOURSELF. Do not bow to anyone who shows ego., conquer your own ego and you will experience God. God will come to you no matter who or what you are. A man in a jungle who never read a scripture, but is pure in heart will reach God. Clean your heart, see with pure vision and do good selflessly and you will find God. If not. You wont

  • Faith cannot be used in a scientific experiment to produce proof. Science labs and its equipment cant be used to produce proof of God. I can't take a basketball to a football match to kick it around can I? You have to use faith and devotion through actions, worship, meditation and spiritual knowledge before YOU can experience the divine. Dawkins has NEVER devoted himself fully to God. Going to church doesnt make you a saint. Cleanse our heart and devote yourself to God and experience Him.

  • Dawkins is awesome. I bought "The God Delusion" today. Can't wait to read it. I noticed in my bookstore that his and other athiest themed books were on the bottom shelf of the section, almost out of sight. In the future , whenever I'm in the store, I'm going to move a copy or two up to eyelevel. More people need to read it ( a couple of billion maybe).

  • dawkins is my hero

  • skip froward 3 mins 39 sec to hear " welcome to the program" & get the interview started!

  • The host was quick to 'show' the missed handshake as the presenting gesture to introduce the guest I mean Dawkins

  • I love this; part 1 and part 2. I absolutely love the way in which the interviewer doesn't attempt to twist Dawkin's words or impart his own beliefs.

  • This guy is such a boss

  • If atheism was a religion there would be lots of money for lobbying against hypocrites. xoxo!

  • That missed handshake lol

  • HE WON'T BE SAYING THIS WHEN THE MOST HIGH RETURNS HE WILL NO DOUBT BE LEFT BEHIND SHE HOW STUPIDITY SELLS?

HE WILL BE ATTACKED HE THINK HE'S SO SMART.

I BET WHEN HE GETS TO HELL HE WILL REGRET HE SAID THIS

    DUMMY.

IT'S A SHAME TO BE THIS OLD AND STUPID

    HE SAID NO EVIDENCE

    UMMMM YEAH IT'S CALLED FAITH!!!!

YAHWEH IS HIS HOLY NAME AND THIS MANIAC WILL BOW TO HIM I WILL PRAY FOR HIM BECAUSE OBVIOUSLY DEMONS CONTROL HIS MIND

I ALSO SUPPOSE ALL THE BIBLE PROPHECIES COMING TRUE HE HASN'T SEEN YET

  • @NAVYWIFEONE shut the fuck up

  • @143951 YOU SHUT UP TROLL PEOPLE LIKE YOU ALWAYS HARASSING OTHERS ON HERE WHY DON'T YOU STOP BULLYING PEOPLE SURE YOU WON'T BE ONE OF THE CHOSEN ACTING LIKE THAT

IN THE MOST HIGH'S NAME I BLESS YOU.

YOU FORGET THIS IS A FREE WORLD SLAVE- MAKER

  • @NAVYWIFEONE i told you to shut up because you were giving christians a bad name by acting sassy and higher than everyone else here. and please turn your caps off bigger letters don't scare anyone over 5 years old

  • @143951 First of all i have a demylating disease called optic neuritis that causes blindness & this is why i type with all caps on cause i can hardly see no need to insult me & if you're 5 yrs old you have no business online well on youtube anyway.

i am not giving christians a bad name i am not acting higher than everybody else but if me being higher than an athiest so be it i am not backing down frorm that they are the ones who have no reason for not believing in Yahweh.

  • @NAVYWIFEONE if you have optic neuritis then clearly your god doesn't love you.

  • @EpicWinGuise he loves all his children see how you're just evil mean & nasty ? he does things for people to change their ways

it's no need to explain stuff to you clearly you're an athiest so i won't waste my time

    bless you =)

and may he bring peace into your heart

i forgive you for all your nasty comments & cursing at me

  • @NAVYWIFEONE I'm actually a very caring loving and compassionate person, however if your god does actually exist, isn't he evil mean and nasty for afflicting you with such an problem as optic neuritis?

I would actually welcome someone to explain religion clearly as all who have tried have failed miserably.

Furthermore i do not need to be 'blessed' and to be truthful these blessings have all the effect of harry potter spells.

also my comment wasn't ansty and i never cursed at you.

  • @NAVYWIFEONE Is god "Perfect" and does he want us to love him?

  • @lewisner oh yes! he is perfect yes he wants us to love him. he sent his son (incarnated himself) as YAHUSHUA to come & save us from eternal damnation the son was perfect too but YAHWEH made of himself a baby and so YAHUSHUA was born he gave his blood for us so we can live he conquered death & hell so we wouldn't have to go there YHWH is so perfect that YAHUSHUA cried out Father don't forsake me well YHWH couldn't look upon him because he was a sinner & he can't look upon it.

    understand?

  • @NAVYWIFEONE A "perfect" being would be complete and would not require anything. Wanting to be loved implies that you are incomplete. Its a contradiction.

  • @lewisner you're right. he's not required to create anything but yet he did. Desires are different from requirements. your logic is flawed.

  • @ajhrockerboy6 I didn't say anything about creation, I mentioned needing to be loved. The god of the bible displays the full range of human emotions and is as far from a perfect being as it is possible to imagine.

  • @lewisner I don't believe in a misogynistic sadistic malevolent racist sexist masochistic god. I believe in a god who loves each and every one of us unconditionally no matter what you believe. Your beliefs and the way you live your life are important. So in other words yes atheists can go to heaven. It depends on your life.

  • @ajhrockerboy6 Way to avoid my question. Talking to you is like throwing darts at a butterfly! Goodbye.

  • @143951 blocked

  • @NAVYWIFEONE lol you called him a slave maker. god is a slave maker read the bible he promotes slavery

  • (cont)Both fit together in my opinion.Science and all the areas that move humanity forward are just ways to better understand how God made everything, what we are here to do in life as individuals and as species.Big Bang? Okay, but God sparked it.A person can't prove that he exists or doesn't so an Atheist putting his foot down is the same as a religious person doing the opposite.Believing or not in god is personal, but because religions put it in people's face there will be an opposite.

  • @TheNolo73 Not true, christians claim something, atheists claim nothing. It's completely different.

  • @thinkboutit That's not true. They claim belief in humanity not in a God that's all. Don't feel so threatened.

  • Religion is the reason Atheism exists. They took God and put it in a box that excludes everybody who doesn't believe in the man made descriptions of that religion. You exclude so Atheists exclude God.If you believe in God you shouldn't even have a freaking book trying to describe him because you have no idea what God is.To me, I believe in a God, whatever the creator is.I also believe that scientists are just like explorers into God's creation.

  • Nietzsche already said all of this; this argument is centuries old. Dawkins isn't progressing anything. We already know that God is dead-- the Abrahamic God, that is. Now we need to find a replacement for this God. Dawkins repeats the line "God is dead", and then doesn't provide us with any replacement. What? Science? Science is the end in itself; it can't provide us with transcendental values. Dawkins' philosophy is empty; it will lead to Nihilism. Read Beyond Good and Evil; put Dawkins down.

  • @983215ljhlkadbspig6y

    you are very right.

  • @983215ljhlkadbspig6y who says nihilism is bad?

  • @maluse227

How would anyone ever know....if you're a Nihilist?

  • @kshackleton by logic :P

  • @maluse227

But, Nihilists claim that you cannot know anything.

  • @kshackleton no its that you cant know anything unless you can actually prove it so they dont believe in religion.

  • @maluse227

Hmm....the version of Nihilism that I am familiar with states that knowledge is not possible. I actually agree with the idea that you need evidence in order to support beliefs, and that the strength of you convictions should be in accord with the evidence that supports those convictions. That's not Nihilism, that's simply a rational view.

  • @kshackleton nihilism: 1. The rejection of all religious and moral principles, often in the belief that life is meaningless. 2. Extreme skepticism, according to which nothing in the world has a real existence. it doesnt state that you cant know anything that would be insane ive had to study nihilism quite in-depth and they are basically really sceptical about everything.

  • i have a wee man-crush on richard

  • I dont care what you all say

    Atheist is a religion.

    Religion = Belief

You need to believe that there is no God. Otherwise how can you become an atheist ? How do you become or be something without standing up for what you believe in?

I treat everyone the same whether you be a muslim or an atheist. But only when you are one of those deluded believer thats when I will have to disagree especially when it comes to harming or killing people just because of what you believe in.

  • @MrNeyus what a ridiculous thing to say.

  • @MrNeyus NO. We don't believe there is not god. We just reject the idea that you(religous) claim.

  • If your name is Stroumboulopoulos, why would you be on TV?

  • "a vindictive bloodthirsty ethnic cleanser , a misogynistic, homophobic racist, infanticidal, genocidal, filicidal, pestilential, megalomaniacal, sadomasochistic, capriciously malevolent bully.” .... quite the description lol

  • Richard Dawkin's has, once again, backed his entire thesis on the unrighteous acts of politically religious leaders. He bases his idea of the nonexistence of God on groups, clearly falsely organised by various leaders who's primary motive was not God but other desires. Science is simply the methods of God comprehended by man. There are many false, religious doctrines yes, science is the works of God. Dawkins doesn't flipping get this, his entire life is based upon the wrong argument

  • @oliverkerz Science is the method of man.Your God doesn't explore and question his own universe, does he? Why would he need to do that?If im correct he created the world and left it, hiding in some transcendent part of "nowhere".who are you to say that his life is based on the wrong argument? Clearly you're the one with the wrong argument. You're whole life is based on the assumption that something exactly like us but greater than us, made us and made laws that we must obey or else we will burn

  • "God bless" Richard Dawkins. one of my heroes! I saw him at the Royal Albert Hall, London a few weeks ago at the launch of his new book. He's fantastic. I admire his patience and gentlemanliness when he answers the same lowbrow and mundane questions over and over (and over).

  • I WANT TO READ THAT BOOK!!!!!!!! but my mom (not so much my dad) would probably run away and live in a church for the rest of her life if she caught me reading it :(

  • @1KevinsFamousChili1 You've got to remember that reading the book doesn't necessarily imply that you share the views within the book.

For example: The interviewer makes it clear that he has read that book but I assume he is not an atheist himself.

  • @1KevinsFamousChili1 obviously it's wrong to do it then if your mom opposes it. dear think about it.

we know what's best for our kids babies teenagers.

there isn't much she can do if you're 13 because at this point like I tell my 15 yr old you are responsible for your own souls destiny age of accountability.

she doesn't want you to believe the foolishness of this "new age" one world religion crap it's a trap satan's trap. but all & all she just want what's best.

    & that's spiritual righteousness

  • @NAVYWIFEONE 2 questions, How do you know i'm 13? and are you saying you are against or for religion? I got confused.

  • @1KevinsFamousChili1 I don't now how old you are but the Jewish boys are considered grown at 13 i have no idea how old you are, But this is when boys have their Barmitzpha's ( hope i spelled it right) this is the age you are held responsible for your own actions.

as far as religion goes that is man made I am a follower of Yahweh my Jehovah Jireh my Elohim. I am against religion it's just a divide & conquer method the Roman Catholics came up with . this rabbit hole runs very very deep. research

  • if religion is proven to be fact then its not science how can you weigh and measure the super natural?

  • I consider myself to be neutral on this debate (though I see atheism and science as most probable to the degree of about 96%) yet until I have absolute 100% certainty I will not draw conclusions because it is such a controversial argument.

I think one mistake made is that science vs. religion is the debate. In truth science is the understanding of facts, the assumption comes that science is atheist because most scientists are atheists but if religion became fact then it is a scientific matter.

  • "Moral truths are not scientific", Thank you Sam Harris for raising the point that IT IS! Every argument about existence is within the domain of science!

  • Some people think that Richard Dawkins has been running scared because he won't debate Dr. William Lane Craig when he goes on tour in Britain this October. Dawkin's arguments apparently are not logically sound and the evidence points convincingly towards intelligence being the most logical explanation for the incredible fine-tuning of the universe.

  • @HeisLord9876

    You're trolling, right?

  • @HeisLord9876 WLC is a snake oil salesman, I wouldn't dare call his intelligence into question, he knows exactly why his points are foolish and unprovable, he's a professional arguer. After one debates scores of people with more credentials, about the same topic, the same arguments over and over despite having thoroughly tore said arguments asunder, One has the right to become a bit tired of hearing it. WLC tends to follow the same format of speach no matter what questions are asked of him.

  • 321 people here believe in God.

  • Evolutions is a religion that was founded by Illuminati bloodlines. Research 13 bloodlines of the Illuminati. They are also the same people who are responsible for the 911 attacks. They want to get God out of the picture because God gave us certain unalienable rights. Slowly take God out of the picture and you slowly lose your rights as a species.

  • @JamesRideout123 Are you 'home-schooled' by any chance?

  • @JamesRideout123 For fuck sake, not another "illuminati" fag. You lot believe that rappers control the world. You are a worthless human being. Fuck off and die.

  • @JamesRideout123

We gave ourselves our inalienable rights, through generations of blood, sweat, tears and war. Every single right we have we earned ourselves through hard-work.

  • @JamesRideout123 That's right, its not the religious that are trying to control people it really is all those damn free thinkers.

  • @JamesRideout123 Taking God out of the picture has given us more rights and more moral laws and means of dealing with evil. Look at religious societies, they're all horrificly barbaristic.

If it was introduced by the Illuminati I thank them for showing such a simple and profound truth. Regardless, it wasn't a conspiracy. Darwin was ridiculed and kept it to himself BECAUSE he once believed in God. Churches are the oppressors and muses of genocyde. cont...

  • @riggermortisify cont...I used to be a victim of masochistic wishful thinking too. In one breath these people call leaders idiots because they can't cover their tracks after say a false flag operation. Not only that, they publish it and send it to the public on request. Yet these idiots were able to fabricate evolution and it's evidence? Was Darwin real? It's absurd, disrespectful and detrimental to the future good of society. You're proof that ignorance isn't bliss.

    Yours sincerely, CIA shill.

  • @riggermortisify Who is a CIA shill?

  • If atheism is a religion, then "not playing baseball" must be a sport.

  • @kieyrofl "must" be a sport?

like there "must" be a God. There has to be a God, right?!!

What if there isn't a God??!! Does that mean there is no basketball....

  • @MrTomaseng i said baseball, completely different.

    and yes.

  • @kieyrofl Atheism is not a religion its just a "share of non-beliefs"

  • @gusnascimento So you agree with my sarcastic quip? :)

  • @kieyrofl ahahahah yeah mate of course =)

  • @kieyrofl I used to believe that actually until i finally analyzed that ridiculous statement. If you don't play baseball chances are you have some interest in other sports. Also if you don't collect stamps most people still like to do something fun. That fun activity is their hobby. Likwise, atheism is still a belief and therefore it is a religion. Your preacher man is Richard Dawkins. He does a fine job at it. He can't ever shut his fat fucking mouth.

  • @ajhrockerboy6

If someone does believes in a god, but does not follow any particular religion, then they also have no religion.

Religions believe in a god (or many gods), but also have fundamentally different rules and opinions.

Atheist share one simple though, the absence of a belief in a god or creator,

  • Athiesm is a lack of religion.

I don't classify myself as an Athiest, but an Antitheist. My religion is that all religion is evil and offends me. That way I can claim offense whenever I see a religious sign and get it taken down for offending my religion.

Schade.

  • If I believed in God, I would thank him profusely for Professor Dawkins.

  • Dawkins rightly excoriates faith without evidence but then conjecture skirts GBLT identity witnessing without any genome evidence at all. Try navigating amongst these art world escapism bullies with their platitude taunting "What are you afraid of?" I'm CONCERNED about these retribution bully-cowards growing unhealthy cultural trends. Do we really need another White Man Neighborhood to honestly figure this out?

  • God loves Dawkins..Hope he find the Truth!!!

  • @istwan90 he already did i hope you do

  • @jezusslave. If you think the christian bible is a perfect book, you obviously NEVER read it...

  • @yurizaba Perfect by whos standard?

  • @joe546213 perfect by god's standard

  • @yurizaba His name is jezusslave, go figure.

  • "Notes: was satirized on South Park."

What the fuck? How about "Was one of the giants who explained how genes fit into modern evolutionary theory"??????????

  • Dawkins is a Luciferian promoting that agenda... of rational thought, left brain logic. He promotes false information about our origins, in order to keep humans unaware of their connection to God, or realize their full potential. If you don't believe in God, you will be controlled by the adversary, whether you are conscious of it or not.

  • @SovereignBeing: Your argument is fundamentally biased and in-congruent with reality.

  • @chinopisces spoken like a real left brainer!

  • @SovereignBeing Left brain people suck!

  • @SovereignBeing: At least I possess half. I'd be surprised if your brain capacity wasn't below decimal.

  • @SovereignBeing "Dawkins is a Luciferian promoting that agenda... of rational thought, left brain logic. He promotes false information about our origins, in order to keep humans unaware of their connection to God, or realize their full potential. If you don't believe in God, you will be controlled by the adversary, whether you are conscious of it or not."

As someone with the spirit i love to find others who also know. One Love brother

  • @SovereignBeing Sense when is rational thought and logic a bad thing. It has gotton humans computers, phones, TV, science, and such.

  • Theres no doubt Jesus existed, no 1 person could be that documented in geographically varied text of that age and not have existed. Miracles however are very different. Chinese whispers. I bet at least 1 of your friends told you they saw David Blaine levitate! Thats what I think His "miracles" were. God and Atheism seem just as silly from a scientific viewpoint. Both require faith as there is no definitive evidence for either. Im Agnostic because its the only rational scientific belief.

  • @cmomofilm Nah, he only appears in the gospels the earliest one being about ~100 years after his death. Otherwise there is absolutely no documentation of his existence nor his miracles. Some things in that story book, you would have thought would be documented by someone though, if any of it were real. Secondly, and separately you have a incorrect understanding of atheism. It is only the lack of belief in a god or gods. If you don't believe there is one or many, then you are an atheist.

  • @Nolgthorn Thats what I said, both require faith as there is no evidence that God or Gods do or do not exist. I just worded it badly. What I meant was belief in God/Gods and Atheism seem just as silly from a scientific viewpoint as both requite faith without evidence.

  • @cmomofilm Well depends what you mean by faith I suppose. Do you have faith when you don't believe that a teapot is orbiting Mars? I wouldn't say so. I would say that not believing in the existence of the teapot is the default position and doesn't require faith at all. Believing in the teapot does take faith however because there's no reason to believe that it does exist.

  • @cmomofilm Atheism/theism deals with belief. Agnosticism/gnosticism deals with knowledge. It is perfectly rational to not claim knowledge that there is no god as well as not believe in a god. In that case you would be an agnostic atheist. Claiming to 'know' there is no god would make someone a gnostic atheist, which is something I've never seen or heard about, I'm sure it's out there. Most theists are gnostic theists as they claim to know there is a god but there are agnostic theists as well.

  • @cmomofilm Agnosticism is about knowledge. Atheism is about belief. They are not mutually exclusive. I'm an agnostic atheist because I don't claim to know with absolute certainty that all religions are false but I don't believe in any of them.

  • If there is an anti-Christ, this is it.

  • SHUT DOWN on the handshake.

  • can somebody tell me the song at the beginning?? the one that sounds on the bio??

  • The notion of a creator always begs the question of who created it, and further poses the notion that if the creator didn't require creating, why does the universe?

In short, no one was there when things started and to assume any so-called document written a couple millenia ago or any other religious document has such knowledge shows far more conceit and entitlement than any statement made by any scientist or non religious person on the subject.

  • Keep up the good video work looking good. When you have time come

    visit my channel!

  • The Omnipotence Paradox: "The paradox states that if a being can perform any action, then it should be able to create a task it is unable to perform, and hence, it cannot perform all actions. Yet, on the other hand, if it cannot create a task it is unable to perform, then there exists something it cannot do." - wiki

Therefore, if there is a God, it defies logic. At best, this sky wizard is not omnipotent (as the very definition of the word is a paradox) and thus not worthy of supreme worship.

  • Richard Dawkins for president!!!! 2012

  • "It would require quite the magic trick for the universe to have created itself"

unbelievable than your idea that an intelligent being that always existed did the same magic trick purposefully.I don't know of any reason to assume that

    1. The universe even had a beginning, let alone was created.

    2. That intelligence can exist without first having to learn.

    3. for god to make the universe he would have to be more complex himself?

4.if god was all ways was,he would have to make us out of himself

  • ULTIMATE FRISBEE

  • There is a slight point is skipped also in every speech of Professor, maybe on purpose or not, but i am speaking as a "theist", which means "-One who does not believe in books but believe in a Force that exists". The very point that should not be skipped through is this point, and it also articulated by the pioneers as Boyle, Pastuer or the most important, Einstein that there IS an unknown force who started it all. THAT is the point which should not be skipped.

  • Jesus came to save atheists from the "spaghetti monster."

One lady asked Dawkins, "What if you're wrong?" Dawkins' classic evasion was to accuse (of course) the woman of being an atheist regarding the "spaghetti monster" (implying he's a believer!) while he's simply an atheist in the Judeo-Christian God. Dawkins applies his atheism like Grecian Formula, and for a few prejudicially-solicited spots of grey, "a little dab'll do ya" to get you back to black and on the highway to hell in no time!

  • I believe in startrek. dont you mess with my religion or I'll bomb you're home with my spaceship that I'm going to build later in my afterlife.

    o.0 *thumbs up*

  • we need an atheist pride parade!!!YAYYY!!!

  • his tie is fucking awesome...

  • 3:36 HANDSHAKE

    SUCCESS (lol)

  • anyone else noticed that Richard always wears the same tie?

  • 2:10 LMFAO loooooooooooooooooooool

  • @khashy87 Is it really necessary to post such a stupid comment?

  • He didnt shake the hand because he didnt SEE it! if he didnt see it, it doesnt exist! :-)

  • @tentimetex

    funny...

  • @tentimetex "Not believing in everything you cannot see is absurd." Thats a quote by him. He does not believe that god is real, because he has no proof.

  • @tentimetex

CHRISTIANITY AND THE TRUTH OF THE BIBLE IS NOT GONE AND WILL NEVER BE AS THIS IS WORD OF GOD THE CREATOR OF EVERYTHING AND NOBODY CREATED AS PERFECT BOOK AS THE BIBLE EVER! A FACT THAT YOU ARE LOOKING FOR THE TRUTH AND UNIVERSAL ANSWERS MAKES YOU MORE THAN ONLY SOME ANIMAL OR EFFECT OF COINCIDENT AND EVOLUTION. ONLY CHRISTIANITY PROTECT THE LIFE!

FAITH IS A GIFT SO ASK GOD- HOLY SPIRIT FOR IT IF YOU WANT AND GET READY FOR BIG EVENT-GREAT WARNING SOON

    thewarningsecondcoming . com

  • @JezusSlave You are an idiot, science has proven that the bible is full of bullshit, like the garden of eden, Noah and his ark etc. Christians and all religious nut-jobs sicken me, you are an embarrassment to the world.

  • @misfitstattoo

science will never give you assurance and answers about beginning, reason and goal in it except some poor theories!!!

    are you a monkey?

  • @JezusSlave Yes I am decended from a monkey and so are you, why do you think we have a tail bone?

  • @tentimetex what in the name of niels bohr are you talking about?

  • @tentimetex If you cannot prove it it does not exist. :-)

  • You are pretty fuckin stupid if you believe in god and the bible. thats my opinion but there is NO PROOF that gods exist and the stories are all bullshit..

  • @emptyehole21 William of Ockham, Nicolaus Copernicus, John Napier, Francis Bacon, Johannes Kepler, Galileo Galilei, Rene Descartes, Blaise Pascal, Robert Boyle, Gottfried Leibniz, Gregor Mendel Isaac Newton, Leonhard Euler, Michael Faraday, James Clerk Maxwell, Louis Pasteur, Lord Kelvin, Georg Cantor, Max Planck, Freeman Dyson, Francis Collins believe in God and the Bible.

I wouldn't say they're "pretty fucking stupid" but maybe you are.

  • It's a tragedy that you don't have faith because you renounce it without trying it.

  • @matteichel Why would i want to waste my time?

  • @matteichel I was raised in a Christian school, fables and bible stories, hymns in assembly and all that. So I know what faith is. But then I turned 10-11, and grew out of fairy tales. It was as clear as could be to me that God and all religion should go the way of my belief about the monster in my closet. Absolute rubbish of the highest order, which people believe in so much they are willing to do whatever a mere man tells them to do as long as he has a collar. What a bunch of sheep!

  • @russellrummage Oh boy. Here comes another one. "I was raised Christian blah blah blah and was a devout Christian blah blah blah and grew out of fairy tales blah blah blah."

Seriously, do you all have the same story?

  • @CarlosMarti123 Looks like it doesn't it? Would you prefer my atheism come to me through visions from on high? Oh no, that doesn't work does it? Or maybe it's just that you've heard from people from predominantly Christian countries. Therefore we would have been raised as such before coming to the conclusion it's as believable as my penis being telekinetic. There you go, there's a bit of simple logic for you to get started with. In time, you may be able to perform logical, rational tasks.

  • @russellrummage "Would you prefer my atheism come to me through visions from on high?"

I would hope it came from examining the evidence and arguments from both sides without a biased perspective, and especially without the dogma New Atheism comes attached with.

"There you go, there's a bit of simple logic for you to get started with. In time, you may be able to perform logical, rational tasks."

I already perform logical and rational tasks, thank you. :)

  • @CarlosMarti123 You may consider this as an arrogant statement, although that wouldn't bother me. But I'm very much into physics and cosmology. I'm not a professional by any means but I know so much more about quantum physics than most people, I use quantum as an example because it is insanely accurate and verified (true!). Therefore I'm probably far more aware of the true majesty in operation within the working of this Universe than most religious. It's amazing, but for me not supernatural

  • @russellrummage The eye-openers for me at a young age were A Brief History of Time and the Elegant Universe (you might have heard of it, it's from Greene). There's much that lies beyond the SM though: dark matter, monopoles, extra dimensions, supersymmetry, and a formulation of quantum gravity. I have long seen the beauty of mathematics and physics (compared to average peers at school), but I don't see how it detracts from belief in God.

  • @CarlosMarti123 I've read a brief history of time and saw a TV adaptation of the elegant universe, so it just shows we fundamentally think differently. I've always been inclined toward there being no God (or at least certainly not how described by any religion), but it's more the work of Alan Turing that gave a real reason as to how it can be possible without a designer, ie self-ordering systems. But I suppose you see God as the mathematician, whereas I see maths simply as the language of nature

  • Comment removed

  • @russellrummage I wouldn't see God as the mathematician, but as the necessary source of objective Truth itself. God is, in my conception, essentially the First Cause, the transcendent, self-existing, immaterial, personal and willful source, the necessary source for normative ethics and objective morality.
