  • This is one of the things I loved about Steve. This was like a free-for-all!! Just some big party, with people shouting out and Steve playing around!! Such a showman he was.

  • That's fucking expensive

  • who would want 1 inch thick for sex?

  • 240p... We meet again...

  • 240p... We meet again...

  • 35,791 people heard Steve Jobs talk about sex during the keynote

  • WTF's "mega widescreen"?

  • now macbooks pro 15 and 17 inch have: intel quadcore i7 1 gb graphics card... 1080p hd screens .. hd 720 p isight camera...multi-touch trackpad...7 hours of battery life... i mean i want to se a direct comparison!

As Apple does, i also miss you steve!

    rip steve

  • They want the sex.

  • R.I.P. Steve Jobs

    Born February 24th 1955

    Died October 5th 2011

    Aged 56

  • This is what most other laptops today look like. Apple was way ahead of it's time.

  • Now we have 8 or 7 hours on the MacBook Pro!

  • Why does apple make EVERYTHING out of aluminum now if titanium is better

  • @vistarox Because aluminum is cheaper than titanium, and alumium distrubtes heat more effectivly than titanium.

  • "500mhz G4" WHOO!

    Ten years later...

    "2.3GHZ Quad core. 9.2ghz!" Meh...

  • Macbook air? PowerBook G4....

  • it maybe because Jeff Goldblum is talking in the commercial

  • What does he say at 2:58?

  • My new macbook costs less than that and its WAAAYYYY faster and better!!!!

  • 5 people dont want the sex

  • holy shit that's expensive

  • @TheBioman12 that was top notch technology back then

  • @TheBioman12 the powerbook was released 10 years ago...that

  • because it's mad' offfff tiiiitanium... BUTTTT

  • 00:00 Did he just appear out of the shadows?

  • as apple's computers get thinner, so does their CEO

  • @thatguy0810

Be satisfied not beeing ill like him.

  • What the hell Power and sex was Jobs a pimp back then or som'n?

  • Mega Wide Screen!!!

  • @itsLieber no, why?

  • 3 people love blue screens of death

  • @GeekTechMac I know I do. Such a pretty shade of blue...it's like a reward every time I see it! The fact that I see it every two hours on a Winblows machine only adds to the beauty.

  • @GeekTechMac or don't get the sex xD

  • @GeekTechMac

or they just dont like 240p ^^ like me....

  • @GeekTechMac now 8

  • @GeekTechMac i belive u mean 8 ppl luv blu screens of DeAtH

  • @allandude92 funny, my PC has been running for 5 months without turning off or resetting and i haven't seen any blue screens.

  • @kingcrimson234 it's a mac, right? or linux.

  • @TopOnTheAndroid no, Windows 7.

  • damn he was chubby back then

  • Alright just gotta find some titanium and im set. Bitches get ready to get devastated MEGA PIMP is coming ... now in Titanium.

  • 500MHz processor?!? That's insane!! =)

  • @motivatdguy2000 11 years ago it was insane. I still have one of these (800Mhz one) - works like a champ. Runs OS X Tiger. Really good computer. Even by today's standards it looks superb!

  • It's beautiful, almost as nice looking as the unibody MacBook Pros and Air.

  • They still go on ebay for $200-300. 10 years later, still cost the same as brand new NETbooks. Amazing. Apple's stuff retains value like crazy.

You can literally RENT Apple's stuff, by buying new stuff, selling it a year later for 80% of the price (if not more), add 20% and get the new version.

Hmmm.... Got me thinking... Anybody wants to buy my unibody MBP15", or MacMINI 2009 model (top spec)? :)

  • @VorkeyYT Haha actually I thought I was gonna use it to but it wasnt what I wanted so I'm selling it

  • @VorkeyYT Not really. Im selling it on ebay right now and it is already up to $257.00. Mac computers hold there resale value very well.

  • Just bought one off ebay for $189.00. =D

  • Am I the only one who found it very annoying how he kept saying "mega-widescreen?" It wasn't very mega two years later when the 17'' PowerBook G4 debuted!

  • 10 years old but still looks better than most pc's

  • would be cool if the new unibody macbook pro s were made of titanium

  • @randomrazr The problem with titanium is it was much more expensive than aluminum and apparently, it had a lot of issues with both paint and hinge stability. Apple has been using aluminum much longer than titanium, so I guess in the end, it was ultimately the better choice for building products out of.

  • MEGA WIDE SCREEN? ZOMGGG

  • 15.2 inch wide screen! How will i fit it on my desk!!!!

  • "500MHz G4" OMG *CLAP CLAP CLAP* OMG THAT'S UNGODLY.

  • Most high end smartphones today have a faster processor, faster wi-fi, more RAM, more storage and are thinner than that Powerbook.

  • @Shawshank00 Amazing, isn't it?

  • @Shawshank00 Most of them are new Apples :P

  • @Shawshank00 Well that's as maybe, but you have to remember that technology is always evolving all the time, the technology evolution isn't going to ever stop any time soon, so yes you're right about modern smartphones being more powerful than this PowerBook G4, but a modern notebook computer, particularly a high-end notebook like a Dell Studio or MacBook Pro is going to be far more powerful than your average smartphone.

  • @Shawshank00 yeah and they are also more powerful than most computers from that time.

  • thats my hometown on the screen in the ad!!!!

  • @birdman5050 But thanks, lol :P.

  • @birdman5050 I meant with three operating systems installed on their computers (Speaking specifically of two versions of Windows).

  • I just can't make a full switch to Mac (To many applications I use on Windows that I can't substitute on Mac). I would love to get a Macbook Pro and install Windows XP and 7 on it (Keeping Snow leopard, too ofcourse ;P).I wonder if you can even do that (Legally)?

  • @Titanz91 yes, you can. although apple boot camp assistant lets you install only one version of windows aside to mac os, you can reformat your HD to three partitions and install third os regardless of BCA. It will behave just as if you installed it though BC.

  • @harcio Ah ;o! Nice to know. Thanks a million :P.

  • Look at the (very thick PowerBook Pismo/Wallstreet) and this old thing looks like a modern laptop. My MacBook consists only of plastics but I love it (400€ on eBay).

  • That thing looks like its a century old.

  • I reckon that the new Macbook Pro's take some design cues from the TiBook, ie black keys and cover colour

  • 1 inch thick was impressive for the time and it still is nice today

  • he was so annoying and sex? Lol? Sex? not even try saying sex-appeal

  • Aesthetically much better looking then anything in the macbook or macbook pro line to this day, 8 years later and still getting the job done.

  • this is why people think macs are so expensive but they aren't this expensive any more.

  • holy crap at the price lol, jus..wow.....i dont think it is worth that much since the hardware isnt ALL THAT y'know, but then again it was in 2001, but still why pay much for just a computer, i mean right now there new computers have reduced a lot and are more powerful....Never mind cuz me is confuzed... :P

  • why do i find it sick when he said sex, do it standing up... 1 inch thick

  • its funny how Apple has made laptops with 5 hour batteries since 2008, and my new PC only has 2 hrs.

  • @TheAvery86 basic line macbook pros has a 10 hour battery life now. >.>

  • @TheAvery86

This video is from 2001 not 2008 they ve had 4-5 hours batterylife since the G3 wallstreet.

nowdays we have 10hours i managed to get 12.5 hours from mine...

  • sex sounds a bit less appealing when jobs says it

  • Like the SPY PLANES!!!

  • lmao at 9:34 he said powermac g4 again

  • I own a titanium powerbook 550mhz I bought in 2001 and you know what? It is a goddamn champion.

The design was so fluckin spot on and ahead of it's time. I almost cried when I unpacked it 9 years ago.

  • @hyperthreaded

    titanium is stronger

  • "Lighter than aluminum"?? Titanium (Ti): density 4.506 g*cm^-3; Aluminum (Al): density 2.70 g*cm^-3. What the fuck is the guy talking about?

  • MEGA WIDE screen. Amazing that that was actually a feature back then.

  • This guy is a true genius "Power & Sex"

  • Random Audience Member: "I want one!"

Jobs: "You and about a billion other people."

  • ive brought one of ebay for £100 lol !!

    :L

  • I had one of these, and I loved it. Last me a long time, too.

  • What's strange is that, if titanium is stronger than steel and lighter than aluminum, why weren't the newest MacBook models made of titanium instead of aluminum?

  • @MajorTechFan because apple had to paint the titanium and it would scratch and peel off easily so they went with aluminum so they could color it without paint

  • Titanium is way more expensive

  • @MajorTechFan: Because it's too expensive.

  • no titanium is expensive and isn't as environmentally friendly as aluminum

  • i think because its more recyclable. in combination with the glass they were going for the environmental thing.

    plus its probably cheaper

  • because aluminum is cheaper.

and since titanium is stronger, it's harder to shape.

  • I want a mac >:(

  • Did anyone catch what the guy from the audience was shouting at about 3:00 ? "I want one" ?

  • Yup! He said that which prompted Steve to joke and say "You and about a billion other people." lol.

  • "You and about a billion other people!"

  • what a rip off! lol

  • 2499, or 3499, hmm, a thousand dollars for a hundred megahertz, I can't believe that actually happened back then

  • 500 MHZ was HUGE back then beacuse of the os being so small and lightweight

  • OS X was so slow back then. I had an 867mhz Powerbook. Yuck.

  • yeah i remember opaque window resizing used to turn my ibook into a fanwheezefest

  • i surprized. i had a 400 mhz tibook with only 512 megs ram and it ran like a dream. i even had leopard on it with the help of some1 on craigslist. and at 400mhz and 512 it was still a fast little thing. maybe you had a bad one or you just had to turn down your graphics or something.

  • I'm still using a 600Mhz PIII in my notebook...

(and yes, I really need to get a new notebook XD)

  • Still have my ti which I bought new, its in the original box and staying out of harm's way.

I was able to pick another one up at the apple store, which had not been sold, and was still pretty much brand new other than use by the staff there.

The g4 titanium was the best looking notebook apple released in my opinion, macbook pro's are nice but pretty bland in comparison design wise.

  • my tibook is still running strong, beautiful machine.

  • Deja Vu with that commercial.... I can swear I saw it! I recognize that video in the ad too much!!!! I would have been 5 years old.

  • 5:47 Haha, they stopped clapping and the entire auditorium fell silent when he said: "There's 2 Models"

  • pause da vid @ 0:01 - dat aint steve jobs!! lol

  • ya it is its just in a different color or somethin lol

  • You know I honestly wish Apple would make a Macbook Pro without an optical drive. Imagine what you could do with that wedge thats gotta be at least 20 inches^2; you could almost double the size of the battery, or add a whole lot more ram, dual link video card maybe, second hard drive (imagine 1 TB storage in a thin and light portable! Perfect for say, Windows 7 :D), or make the darn thing even thinner and lighter. That would be epic :D

  • Alienware did the same thing... without removing the opticle drive, dual nVidia GTX280m in SLI, and can have up to a core 2 extreme, just 1.5 inches thick, backlit keyboard, slot load dvd (or blu-ray) 17 inch screen, Alienware M17x, I drool over that and I'm a mac fanboy!

  • There are a lot of epic laptops out there nowadays. HP envy's Macbook clones are pretty good too.

  • Funy thing about the envy...

Worse than the MacBooks yet more expensive lol.

I'd still rather have an Alienware M17x... C'mon SSI!!!

  • one downside to the M17x.

Your specs you listed r $7 grand

    Yeah,,,,fk that

  • You can get quad core and SLI in the M17x for around 3k. MacBook Pro is a joke next to it. 2k for core 2 duo and GeForce 9600????? Fuck that!

  • $2,500-$3,400 seems a bit costly. I just found one online for $349.

  • It was a different time.

  • Indeed, and thats great value for a computer that old.

  • raadioactivenews: 2009 vs 2001. Back then, this was either on par or cheaper.

  • Watching this video with my Macbook pro aluminum 13" 2.53GHz. it makes me laugh. However, I still think that titanium is better than aluminum....Geerrrrr

  • hahaha "thats my finger!"

  • notice how it looks like the macbook pro unibody? just thought id point dat out :D

  • not at all. not even the keys

  • lol, alothough u have a point, i was just pointing out that they have a very close color scheme, for other macbook pros/powerbooks have been all aluminum or Black.

It's not all good though, the dell inspirons in a similar time had the same black on silver theme, and people even mock the new MBP for looking like a dell

just a fellow geek with his 2 cnets :D

  • The PowerBook G3 wasn't made of aluminum....

  • @drexwlwlwlwlwlw That looks as much like a unibody MacBook Pro as a lampshade iMac looks like today's iMac. Just because it folds open/closed and is made out of a metal doesn't make it look the same.

  • @usedbookstore well, i mean, the color theme is much more akin to today's macbook pro line, with a silver case and chassis paired with a black keyboard. I only say so because the aluminum powerbook G4s and the earlier macbook pros had an all silver color scheme, and the powerbook lombard and earlier models had a relatively black color scheme.

  • @drexwlwlwlwlwlw Because they're both made out of metal. Beyond that, they're really quite different, from the placement of the ports and SuperDrive to how they're actually made, too.

This was certainly the landmark product of its day but the unibody aluminum models are better in virtually every way. The biggest problem with the G4 Titanium was that it wasn't anodized and thus had a nasty habit of tarnishing and losing its paint job.

  • @drygnfyre I certainly agree with that point. I just thought it was interesting to point out there was a certain resemblance (again, from a color scheme standpoint) between the current Macbook Pro line and the Powerbook in this video.

  • @drexwlwlwlwlwlw

Ah, miss the old "Apple Computer Inc." ...these days the mac plays second fiddle...

Still have my 1 ghz Ti-book in near mint condition, pulled it out of the storage after a few years recently, and was immediately re-obsessed with it.

Still looks better than anything they have with intel chips on the conveyor belt.

  • "mega widescreen! 5hr battery life!"

    *cheer clap clap*

"you can own one if you give apple you child"

    *silence*

  • lmao XD

  • Know what's funny? He said out laptop has 5 hours of battery life. And they still do today. He also said the PC laptop only gets 2 hour battery life. And PC laptops still do get 2 hours of battery life today. Seems like nothing has changed. Also, how come Steve Jobs said that Titanium is better then aluminum? When all of Apples laptop today are made from aluminum.

  • they use to be, but then apple discovered it was bad for wireless and after a while the painted sections flacked off

  • He never said it was better than aluminum. he said it was lighter. they went to aluminum because it conducts heat 40 times better!!

  • The MacBook Pro's today have up to 7-8 hours of battery life, built in, and can last 5 years.

They chose aluminum because it was environmentally friendly.

  • lol steve keeps sayin "power mac"

  • I want the sex. D=

  • he said "i want one!!"

  • what did the guy say in the audience, before steve said you & about a billion other people

  • "want one!".

Considering that the same phrase was used in the TV ad, I'd say is was arranged :-P
