The F-22 has shown to be difficult to lock onto even at WVR, and remember the Su-37 videos you see are of performance aircraft that are not combat ready. Once you add external stores to it that creates drag and the maneuverability diminishes substantially. The F22 doesn't have that problem with weapons stored internally.

As much as I like Su-35, Su-35 is an F-15 killer. F-22 kills all current Russian planes, including the PAK-FA. You can't outgun, outrun and outmaneuver what you can't lock on to. No matter how much you maneuver, if you can't take the shot, you're done.

I enjoy watching both aircraft. Both have their advantages and disadvantages. I am by far no expert, however, I do believe it comes down to one single concept. TRAINING. A good plane is no good without TRAINING. Repeated training or "Train like you fight" is the winning stratagy.

Actually it does. Its been proven by scientists and radar operators: the lock breaks. Pulse-doppler radar "sees" motion. not hovering/stationary air targets. It needs to change its mode to lock on such target. It doesn't totally lose it, just long enough for radar to break lock, also depends on what kind of AIM. Passive, semi-active or active? also depends on wavelength.

AESA also has a feature that will anticipate a location based on where the target was last located. Also the Pulse Doppler is only one facet of the AESA capability. IR sensors are also used in positioning location.
Spetsnazovets, the F-22 uses an Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) Radar. Pulse Doppler is old news for this bird. The F-22 is more technologically advanced than the Su-37 without a doubt.

The only real contender for the F-22/F-35 is the PAK-FA, but that won't see production until the 2015-2020 time frame. That's plenty of time for our pilots to hone their tactics to fight against other 5th generation aircraft. We've been matching F-22's up against each other for years now. Since the F-22 will be very likely to carry a laser DEW(2010+) in addition to its integrated DEW capability. What difference does it make to pull 9G, somersault or any other airshow stunt when the weapon firing at you is moving at light speed and can be fired in a 120+ degree arc! As much as I like Su-35, Su-35 is an F-15 killer. F-22 kills all current Russian planes, including the PAK-FA. You can't outgun, outrun and outmaneuver what you can't lock on to. No matter how much you maneuver, if you can't take the shot, you're done.

I enjoy watching both aircraft. Both have their advantages and disadvantages. I am by far no expert, however, I do believe it comes down to one single concept. TRAINING. A good plane is no good without TRAINING. Repeated training or "Train like you fight" is the winning stratagy.

I think it is you who needs to learn something about air combat. Yes, speed = energy, but the MiG can pick up speed easily after doing these extreme manoeuvres. Same as the F22. Which will also do these extreme manoeuvres in combat. These "airshow crap" moves are the ones planes like the F22 and SU's WILL use in combat. This fancy SU-27 moves are the only reason the US picked the F22 as their new fighter. Because the F23 wasn't as agile as the F22.

A cobra does not make an aircraft invisible........besides , once an AIM locks onto a target...bye, bye !!
In combat scenarios, the enemy never 'saw' the F22 that just blazed them. So they can do all the cobras and backflips that they want........all the way to the ground........

Actually it does. Its been proven by scientists and radar operators: the lock breaks. Pulse-doppler radar "sees" motion. not hovering/stationary air targets. It needs to change its mode to lock on such target. It doesn't totally lose it, just long enough for radar to break lock, also depends on what kind of AIM. Passive, semi-active or active? also depends on wavelength.
By the way I hope you are saying all this based on proven facts, not just national pride.

Spetz....you are correct, but only if the aircraft becomes motionless......or floats, which will only occur for a very short period of time (1-2 seconds) Any motion forward or backwards will give a doppler shift, and be seen by the radar. AESA also has a feature that will anticipate a location based on where the target was last located. Also the Pulse Doppler is only one facet of the AESA capability. IR sensors are also used in positioning location.

Too bad the Su-37 is an experimental aircraft, and will never see production. The Su-47 will never see production either.
The only real contender for the F-22/F-35 is the PAK-FA, but that won't see production until the 2015-2020 time frame. That's plenty of time for our pilots to hone their tactics to fight against other 5th generation aircraft. We've been matching F-22's up against each other for years now. The Russians are still struggling to even make their 1st 5th generation aircraft.

its no doubt the US helped us alot. But it was more land-lease and weapons, and food that helped us. Also US bombing raids of german factories. Not so much the second front, since it was in 1944, and Russia was obliterating Germany by then. Nevertheless, R.I.P.

Allies opened a second front in 1944 when no one needed it.They simply were afraid that Red Army would gain more experience and control the whole Europe.Allies couldnt fight well anyway-remember Ardennes when exhausted,half consisting of youngsters and old people germans started an offensive and americans pissed in they pants.Russians had to save them by Balaton operation

Since the F-22 will be very likely to carry a laser DEW(2010+) in addition to its integrated DEW capability. What difference does it make to pull 9G, somersault or any other airshow stunt when the weapon firing at you is moving at light speed and can be fired in a 120+ degree arc! Also since no plane in the world is likely to even know an F-22 is in the air, why would it be manuvering? Should the F-22 decline combat for some reason. How is the SU-37 going to pursue it?

The su has slow speed supermaneuverability,and the f/a-22 has 99% of the same slow speed ability,but also has high speed supermaneuverability. The su doesnt have the same high speed abilties.

Yeah! Because a single F-22 totally didn't rape a squadron of F-15 eagles, a plane that completely annihilated every single aircraft (Russian or otherwise) it ever met in combat and was never shot down! Oh wait... that's a lie.
Stealth, mach 2.4 max speed, thrust vectoring, and the longest ranged radar in the air. The SU-37 MIGHT stand a tiny chance in a dogfight (if the electronic countermeasures allowed it to lock on)... but we all know dogfights don't happen anymore anyway.
