Don't waste you time doing this, it doesn't work. It works, but only enough for the phone to phone home to verify its serial number, and shuts off (locks itself), hence, you get that single bar (or the voice mail symbol). You can go to Sharif Hashim's blog and read about it.

This trick isn't really a great solution as it will only work until the TMSI is refreshed (Temporary Mobile Subscriber Identity), which is programed to be done periodically and that means the unlock wont stay for that long (1-3 seconds, at most). In the UK, just as in the rest of Europe countries all cell phones are factory unlocked (because locking is unlegal and forbidden there) and that's why fsx291 had it done in the first time.

@chuchi0chang Si, funcionó solo que el proceso es algo diferente, apaga el wi-fi y el 3g, reinicia, sigue los pasos de la gevey contando los 15 segundos etc etc, una vez que quites el modo airplane ve directamente a wi-fi y activalo, funciona todas las veces sin ningun problema. Aun con jailbreak.

I tried maybe atleast up to 10x, but like I said, I get the tmobile signal bar, I even get the facetime thing but the phone shuts off right away. Maybe because I did it with Iphone 4S with the lates firmware and baseband? (5.0.1/1.0.13) What do you think?

NOTE: You have to have data plan on your T-mobile sim card to get the T-mobile signal.

@randieempee I haven't done this myself but it may be or may not be because you updated to 5.0.1 but I am not 100% sure if that makes any difference? Please reply to fsx291's comment below and he will be notified and may be able to help you further. He said it took him the whole day of trying it but it eventually worked!

Hello this seems complex but definetly worth it. Quick question, if you have IOS 4.3.3 with 04.10.01 basband does this work? I wanted to be sure before I tried it because my iphone is already jailbroken not unlocked and i'd hate to lose my activation because I'd just be borrowing my friend AT&T card. Thanks!

@tovia92 Hi it is similar to the process you would have to go through when unlocking through an older gevey sim. I haven't done this myself but as you can see from other comments it does seem to work! I can't imagine how you would lose your activation and it shouldn't affect your jailbreak as it doesn't mess with any files or restore through itunes...

Help. I am in Cambodia with an AT&T iPhone 4S iOS 5.0.1. The sim does not work here; cannot dial 611. Also, the local sim won't work. Any help on unlocking so it can work with the local carriers here? GSM networks are here. Thanks.

@rickylyciw I think you will need to be on AT&T and in the US for this to work as you have to dial 611 which is a US number for AT&T customer service...
