  • I wonder if that trader was given death or was he crowned a king.

  • The character that plays Indradev changes later in the epic.

  • Atleast he got to enjoy her all this years and then at old age got rid of her what more a old man needs in life LOL

  • @mayurchanakya enjoyment is not only sex,,, just make ur thinking broad that how much he suffered he lost his so many children... before just to keep their 1 promice they used to suffer like anything... this whole mahabhart is a story dharm karm and arth and if u will think only this way then u will never und depth of mahabhart. we think only meterially think spiritually and pl think 10 times b4 u pass any comments i hurts many hindu people.

  • thank you for sharing this

  • yeh mahabharat 4 yug pahale bit chuka hai. parantu iska bhaw jo abhi bhi jinda hai. lekin part two me jo hum dekh rahe hai wah galat hai kyon ki wada karaya tha kuchh bhi na kahana. jo karu sirf dekhate jana agar ek bhi sawal karoge to mai tumhare jindagi se chala jaungi.shantanu bibash tha yaar bibash tha.it is not faie. but anybody can't do anything. damar narayan roy nepal.

  • good

  • Instead of complaining about the ads, be grateful someone is offering this content. It's the way things are. Do your mantra, do metta, think loving thoughts and you will end up with great benefit instead of dis-ease.

  • 15:05 ...

  • is pawan shukla family of rishab?

  • why was he keep getting her pregnant, what was he hoping that by the fifth or the sixth child, she's gonna "change her mind"???? no offense but i think thats just ridiculous...n plzz no one reply me saying its "bhaag n kismat" cuz its just idiotic for anyone to keep having sex with someone who likes getting pregnant n kills all the babies when they are born...i mean seriously from the guy's perceptive, don't u think this is little over the limit, ecp. without not knowing the story behind it!!

  • wait, i have a question...if he knew that Ganga is keep killing his babies after their birth, why is he keep getting her pregnant again n again? i mean okay "by accident" she killed the first child, or maybe the second but she killed SEVEN of them, by the third one he should have known, there is something mentally wrong with her, so not to have sex with her....i mean jeez!! i understand the explanation Ganga had, but he didn't knew that before, before to him, she was just a murderer!!

  • first of all ganga maiya was not killing her baby's they all were alive and you asked why shantnu had been doing sex though ganga ji is killing baby's because it was curse given by sant to BHISHMHA PITAMHA you will 8th son of ganga and remain 7 are also cursed by saint i can't tell you whole story i gave you just summary go and ask to any scholars they will tell you whole story bye .

  • @undertaker5063 well mr nobody asked u to tell me this much either n btw i alrdy knw all tht plus hw do u knw tht shantanu knew abt tht (abt the curse n all) the way it shws in ths play, he dsnt knw b/c he wsnt allowed to ask any questions to ganga he found out abt the whole curse thng n abt y she ws killing the babies whn he stopped her from killing baby bhishma he didnt knw abt it before. so it made me curious to knw y he ws gettng her prego again n again knwng she ws going to kill the babies

  • @8jfre Vasus who had assisted in stealing Nandini had their curse mitigated such that they would be liberated from their human birth as soon as they were born; however, Prabhasa being protagonist of the theft, was cursed to endure a longer life on the earth. The curse, however is softened to the extent that he would be one of the most illustrious men of his time. It was this Prabhasa who took birth as Devavrata (Bhishma).

  • @8jfre and only only ganga maiya get salected for these eight baby's becoz the curse given to bhishma is that you will se you'r whole family being killed and which happens in mahabharata . may be now you would have understand don't get angry becoz i was just trying to take you out from confusion . sorry if you feel bad and sorry for my bad english my english is not so good .

  • @8jfre The legend behind Bhishma's birth is as follows — once the eight Vasus ("Ashtavasus") visited Vashishta's ashram accompanied by their wives. One of the wives took a fancy to Nandini, Vashishta's wish-bearing cow and asked her husband Prabhasa to steal it from Vashishta. Prabhasa then stole the cow with the help of the others who were all consequently cursed by Vashishta to be born in the world of men. Upon the Vasus appealing to Vashishta's mercy, the seven Vasus who had.

  • 32:52.

The king mentions about caste here. Mahabharat Book believes in the caste system ? I thought humans created it. Please answer.

  • @ashuezy2 Mahabharat is an epic and the author Ved Vyas has depicted the characters in those times here.So caste system will be an inseparable part in Mahabharat. The king Shantanu talked of making his servant a Kshatriya which can be thought of as divine rights attributed to the kings.Even in Medieval India the Gajapati kings of Puri awarded a higher caste to someone they thought deserved the bill and appreciation. Kings could bestow any higher caste in those days IMHO.

  • @ashuezy2 The system what they have today is not the same as it were before, according to their holy books. If I'm right, long time ago you could be anybody, no matter who were your parents. Your caste depended on what you did. Today, the castes name are the same, but you can be only in one caste, where you were born. So if your parents were in lower caste, you will be in a lower caste forever (i mean, in THIS life...). But this is not what the holy books tell you, it's just human invention.

  • @ashuezy2 : Well said!

  • @Bitama

Mahabharata is in Vishnu Purana. Also, in Ramayana bhagwan Ram was born as Kshatriya. So they have been for a very very long time. Its not a human invention.

  • I am not Indian, but frankly speaking, Indians have so many great historic series like jai hanuman, Ramayana, Shri Krishna and so on.... But this Mahabharata is the best among them. Love it so much.. This is my 10th times watching it lol

  • @23:00, what will happen to my dad????? :-)

  • sounds lke harry potter but very poor direction

  • @jhohlla one can not see more than ones own ability & can comprehend only within one's own capacity. You r but an average/"normal" person for whom anything that u can't understand does not exist or is not possible, & y r the center of the universe, the cause of all that happens, & are the highest point that is achievable.

  • @jhohlla ok speilberg, why don't u simply stick to harry potter? instead of trying to meddle into things outside the capacity of your cpu?

  • this is old for these times and needs a remake. With the new technology and special effects correctly balanced (not hollywood spectacal keep it humble) it could be a true piece of art, of course it could be never equeal to equeally being their and expierencing the people themselves!

  • very awesome serial ...

  • Where did the subtitles go? :(

  • I think I will watch all of these :)

  • Awesome epic. I've watched this in television during my schooldays... As it's on you tube I manage to watch couple of episodes daily... It's really amazing and the credit goes to B.R Chopra and his team who have done a really amazing job bringing history about the birth of India. Thanks a lot to Rajshri for uploading this to you tube... Great work.

    thanks

  • @hahaashrafarzal They say that the British gave us democray - how come they forgot to give it to muslims? Why does pakistan lurch from one despot to another while Hindu India remains a shining democracy? The only difference is religion! Hinduism is a Teacher faith - we are students/children of God. Don't act like slaves of god - do not kneel or prostrate yourself in front of the Murti - that is the act of a slave.

  • Dear Blessed Soul, Please listen to Yatharth Geeta OR Bhagavad Gita, never has Bhagavad Gita been explained so clearly and in so much in depth. It is hence called "Yatharthgeeta, you can download the mp3 of your choice of language from the website yatharthgeeta. com OR search for 'yatharthgeeta' right here on youtube OR go to youtube. com/user/foryatharthgeeta to get a quick preview. God Bless You!

  • test message

  • @aparajitha, well you might have thought that I, being an "eligible Indian" didn't come across to these two terms and tossed in unknowingly to catch attention!

All I meant was that it is almost impossible to achieve salvation. Banprastha and Mohaprosthan are two different perspectives for salvation, according to Koutilyo Chanakyo. Fix your bloody "teaching" tone by the way, I am not your pupil...damn it !!

  • @dipmelb just get it straight first...your vocabulary, I mean...& yoour statement shows it plenty clearly...you ain't a "pupil" of any one...

  • @aparaajita10 piss off back home granny :))

  • Just saw this tv show where this woman keeps asking God why God is giving her all these troubles. To me that is not Hinduism - ours like Buddhism, is a Teacher faith. Karma & Rebirth make it clear that we are responsible for our acts, but also for our society, our world. God will not interfere - just like a Teacher - only there to encourage & instruct. We have to fight life's battles on our own. To me that makes us stronger.

  • the US and sua is the Y system of swastkha the arrow is the swastkha is sysmbol for 666.and is oen of the systems of mathematics of the 4th order, such as obama`s order of the his multi religion of hindi `jew` `moslem` and christian ,most voters in the mixed beliefs.

the indian system of twoplay(indian bands claled two play ,who sing about the twin towers and the order of evil world order.the arrow si also sued by the indiasns to penertrate the vrigina of the vrigin such as a certain gymnast.

  • @delpha3110 Now don't even go there...better look at yourself first...USA has no special protected status too give it the right to keep doling out c***to every one & threaten with law suits when it is at the receiving end....the song is not about US, & u can't "pass judgement" on something u don't even understand.

  • @delpha3110 And had the Indians been imbeciles & letigious like u guys, you would not have a place to hide in the universe, my friend...

  • @delpha3110 What the fuck are you smoking/imbibing.... and can I get a sample of that?!

  • I have been reading these comments. Great conversation! I tend to agree with Scooby that the concept of hell and heaven is much deeper philosophical realization. Hindu philosophy is much towards self realization, self earning, self grading type system, although I cant be bothered knowing how this is maintained by its keepers these days. I am 34, mature enough, still do not understand whether Moksha can be achievable, may be that is awaiting on my way to either banprashtha or mohaprosthan"

  • @dipmelb I don't know if u understand what u r talking about. So, to assist u clarify your thoughts & fur your knowledge (not information), Vaanprasth means, that once u have handed over the reins & control of your business, to the generation u have trained & groomed to do that, live a life of contemplation & helping those who live around those areas. Maha prasthaan, on the other end, means the final journey or death. I don't know if u used the words fully understandin their meaning

  • Moksha, Enlightenment is earned, not given or begged for, unlike Heaven. That's the difference between the two. Getting to heaven is not that difficult, all a pedophile or a terrorist needs to do is to grovel & beg like a dog. He gets to enjoy a flesh-happy heaven while his victims live thru hell. Moksha is earned thru knowledge, and knowledge has to be earned, not given. A Teacher who gives pass marks to a failed student is not doing him a favor. Reach for the Higher goal, reach for Moksha.

  • @ramaraksha01 I would disagree on the matter of enlightenment not being given. No one can attain enlightenment since the One that is enlightened in the truest sense of the word truly is enlightened. Enlightenment is granted not due to human achievement, which would equate the object with God. The One reveals itself within the human pole of reception. No amount of huma effor makes one worthy of enlightenment. To think so is a trick of the ego!!

  • @scoobydoo84 If it is not earned, then how is it being granted? Is God going to simply grant enlightenment to a Hitler? Or some stupid person? Not only Enlightenment, anything in life should be Earned, never simply given or begged for. That's the idea behind it. Countries are poor because a few people keep looting it. No one grudges Bill Gates for his money, he Earned it. If every citizen would refuse to take unearned money, that country would be paradise.

  • @ramaraksha01 I meant that one does not achieve Moksa exclusively by ones own effort. The individual makes the most diligent effort and God responds to that effort once God feels that the individual is ready. But make no mistake, no human effort ALONE makes one worthy of Moksa. God alone is truly enlightened and He alone grants Moksa to those who strive sincerely to cleanse the ego.

  • @scoobydoo84: I have a distaste for the carrot & stick method - God giving out goodies for good behaviour & punishment for bad - a child can come up with that concept. Think of doing good for it's own reward - Gandhiji was not thinking of Moksha, nor about his ego - he wanted a better life for Indians & paid for it with his life! You think someone sitting silently in a little hut gains Moksha? I think not - the world needs you, make it a better place & you will find Moksha.

  • @ramaraksha01 I respect your comments, and I am not trying to be rude, but your understanding of the very underlying concept is emotional and not founded on scripture. Its a really broad oversimplification. When it comes to such matters it isn't wise to reduce the most profound existential realities to cultural or emotional statements. If you are serious, undertake the study of these teachings. That is all I can say!!

  • @scoobydoo84 I respect your opinion. I do think that there are no wrong opinions, if you don't like it, just ignore it, but asking people to stop is censorship.

Sometimes we make too much of some things - the existence of God has not been proven - I call myself an Atheist Hindu. there is room for all kinds of thoughts - seems to me that you have stopped learning.

  • @ramaraksha01 you are right, the existence of God has not been proven, but neither has it been proven that (S)he does not exist...so, irrespective of whether we believe or don't, let's live this life in respecting each other & letting each one have his space. And intervening when we see some one being hurt or suffering...

  • if you understand what is the objective of human life you will understand Moksha also?

  • @maheshrehan I am a student just like you. To me the way to Moksha is by reducing grief that presently exists in this world. The Buddha talked about suffering but he was not talking about one's own suffering but the suffering that exists in society. If by the time I leave this earth, i can make it a little better place, then I thinnk I am on my way to Moksha

  • @ramaraksha01 Nope that is a wrong way of looking at Buddha's teaching. Buddha gave up everything in search for the truth when he saw misery. When he found the truth, he said he has the answer and its A Man's "Iccha" (wishes) that is the problem of everything. Its very hard for everyone of us to be Iccha less or wishless but with a help of Sadguru it might be possible. Please listen to yatharthgeeta at yatharthgeeta. com God Bless you!

  • @foryatharthgeeta Well u don't have to look far to find a creature without any wishes or desires - just take a look at the lowly ant - like a robot it goes about its business fulfilling it's life's duty. Somehow i don't see that life as leading to Moksha. God gave us a human life - we have intelligence, likes & desires. We should not discard them - but put them to good use. I desire a pain-free world - that takes jobs - jobs created by people going out & buying things.

  • @ramaraksha01Dear Blessed Soul, When one starts praying 'One' God, God will find him a Guru. It's only at this point you will start understanding the truth not before then. Gita says - Anyatra Lokoyam Karm Bandhana - that means anything that is done beyond thinking of God is this Materialistic worlds attachment. Please listen to yatharthgeeta at yatharthgeeta. com God Bless You!

  • @ramaraksha01 What Shrimad Bhagwad Gita explains is that one has to do one's "duty" to the best of one's own ability, & that we are only in control of what we do..."input" but we have no control over the outcome. So whatever we do, must be well considered at least to bring a good outcome, but that is just the outcome of the action, not a reward or a punishment...those are our own perceptions...or so I understand

  • @aparaajita10 I don't entirely agree with that statement - it's not applicable in all cases. For instance if you take a test in school or college, & get poor marks, are you saying the marks you got are not a direct result of your efforts? You have to take responsibility for the results that's the only way you improve & get better.

  • @ramaraksha01 just wondering, do you dislike the carrots & stick approach for "moksha" & in case of religion/god issues, or you dislike it in other areas of life too? Like in school, sports, fines, reward points, etc?

  • @aparaajita10 I just think these are primitive values that we keep handing on to. In the olden days kids getting a beating for misbehaving was quite common. More & more we are discouraged from doing that - if the goal is to educate the child, causing physical harm is just plain abuse. If you need fear to turn to God, then that same fear might drive you into the arms of a cult. Turn to God because you want to. Do Good because you want to - don't expect a reward.

  • Hell is a vile, abusive, disgusting concept. God buys love & loyalty with torture? A Gandhi, Teresa, Mandela would never think of torturing their enemies, whereas a Saddam, Hitler, Stalin would. This is the company that God keeps? Karma & Rebirth is the better, the non-violent way. You are not punished, nor are you simply forgiven because you begged enough. The most important aspect of Karma is that you are held accountable for your actions, you are reborn, given another chance to make amends.

  • Nice !!

    Good analysis

  • @ramaraksha01 Hells are spoken of in the Vedas as well, and in Buddhism. These hells are not puhishments to buy love. You have a profound metaphysical and esoteric misunderstanding. The heavens and hells corrospond to degrees of human consciousness. The experiences are self-inflicted through ones own collective Karmic accumulations. Evil Karma experiences spearation from God, hence suffering(hello). All the way until Moksa is granted.

  • @scoobydoo84 I have never learned anythig by being physically punished. At one time kids used to be beaten if they did something wrong - nowadays we know if is better to make the child see why he was wrong. Use it as an opportunity to teach the Child. We need a diff word for Hell - the Hell you describe is very diff from what is usually decribed in popular culture. We need to take out the word punishment.

  • @ramaraksha01 Pop culture isn't exactly where you want to learn anything, specially the topic of religion:) Thats like going to pirates with a treasure ship and asking for directions. You will be robbed:) The suffering is experienced as punishment bc the further one is from God, one feels the distance of God as abandonment, etc....God does not punish to punish, we simply feel a darkness by being distant from Him. its a very complex issue!!

  • @scoobydoo84 There is room for all thoughts, but not facts. I simply asked you to learn in depth and verify for your self if you are serious. Learning truly, means moving beyond personal opinion and conjecture. After reading your posts, I don't fully believe that you are all that convinced of atheism:) All I would say is that you must study this topic for yourself.

  • @scoobydoo84 Vedas are "Apurusheya" that means it is not a creation of man. Great saints like Kabir, Tulsidas, Rahim, Guru Nanak, Jesus were uneducated but did they possess so much Knowledge? coz knowledge is literally 'downloaded' on to you when you are enlightened. Now to get to this stage, one needs to find a Sadguru or a Prophet or what ever you want to call him or she. Please listen to yatharthgeeta at yatharthgeeta. com God Bless You!

  • @ramaraksha01 Dear Blessed Soul, Karm = Aaradhna (Prayers), when one dies all the accrued aaradhna along with ones senses is tranferred into another body where the Karm keeps growing until Moksha. During this process one will find a Sadguru, who would then navigate the path until moksha. This is the only truth. Please dont mix up anything else to this, listen to yatharthgeeta at yatharthgeeta. com God Bless you!

  • @foryatharthgeeta there is an old telugu saying - Mantralaku chintakayalu raalavu - meaning fruit won't fall to the earth just because u recite some mantras - similarly just praying won't get u close to god - let ur actions get u close to God. Make this world a better place - see God within every life & surely u will get close to God. A Good Atheist is closer to God Rama than a Good Hindu, so says this Hindu.

  • @ramaraksha01 Dear Blessed Soul, I agree. One should have Shraddha (truthfulness) with God and the God direct him/her to a Guru. It's only at this point you will start learning the truth not before then. Gita says - Anyatra Lokoyam Karm Bandhana - that means anything that is done beyond thinking of God is this Materialistic worlds attachment. Please listen to yatharthgeeta at yatharthgeeta. com God Bless You!

  • Great

  • Mahabharata is supposed to be the superset of all possible characters, stories and situations - (a description also used for Shakespeare btw!)

Makes one wonder...If only the ethical learnings had percolated through the centuries!

  • Jay ho!

  • The great reason of mahabharat is that there is every reason happen in mahabharat

  • IT IS WONDERFUL! :)

  • Awesome !! I am watching it again after like more than 15 years and Frankly I am amazed when they emphasize of karma than janma :) I wish we learn from it and give preference to merit and capability to dynasty or else there will be another mahabharata :) Wow its so cool :) how it fits in today's world too :)

  • Ganga's son is Debabrata; that is the name he has until he takes his vow of celibacy and surrenders his birthright.

  • Comment removed

  • Ganga's Son..single handedly took out a whole-army, and marked his turf.

  • i really love the background music when ganga appears.. soothing

  • What a rich culture we have. I'm proud of it.

  • @sharmaranjana30 Yes you do. I envy you. You should be very proud.

  • @sharmaranjana30 sadly we had, we are very much influenced by west now, harly I see any movie where a normal person does not open a bottle in weekend. I go to see 80s movie where I can correlate myself.

  • @sharmaranjana30 : very true,,, am so proud of being hindu..mahabharat was written thousands of years ago.. how culturally rich we are....

  • @hotparo I think it is history, for archeological findings have shown a lot of stuff dated to that period that matches the descriptions. Also, if it was akin to something like a nuclear war involving all the forces & nations of the planet (or even the continent), then a lot of stuff that could provide evidence would have been destroyed.

  • realyy nice...

  • awsome

  • i dont know why this video doesnt get downloaded. so there are lot of pauses while watching it. any suggestions?

  • Pls Show these again in tv!! this a thing that everyone should atleast see it once in his life especially when he is a child.

So pls telecast this on tv on SONY.

  • Mahabharat is the crown jewel among all Indian epics. B.R. Chopra has done a great service to our country by adapting it into a Tele-Serial. All the actors and technicians involved with this serial have done a splendid job. No praise is high enough to describe their effort and commitment.

  • My Fav Actors from B.R. Chopra's Mahabharat (Top-Five)

    1) Nitish Bharadwaj (Shri Krishna)

    2) Pankaj Dheer (Karan)

    3) Mukesh Khanna (Bhisma Pitamaha)

    4) Puneet Issar (Duryodhan)

    5) Arjun (Arjun)

Infact its really unfair to select jus 5 actors since i feel that all actors involved in this serial have given their best performance.

  • @manshenoy Yes, ever child must see it while growing !

  • @wwinds & continue to go back to watching iy periodically. I (in fact my family) finds it very useful in finding guidance to a lot of social & ethical dilemmas that we come across at a personal & even at a larger level. We just don't want to look at that aspect of it.

  • LOVE FOR ALL HATERAD FOR NONE

  • excelent...

  • if i had said this about islam you would have burnt some cars and bombed some people!

  • The first is sub titled and I loved, it but this is not and I find that frustrating and very disappointing. There's no point in watching it if I cannot follow nor understand it.

  • UR MAD FQ BEAST

  • Hi people! Do you know where I can find it in spanish? I am reading the book -in spanish- and I would love to compare!

    Thanx and peace to all

  • love all religion all people..

  • it was very brilliant that the pandvas were in low track and improved it

  • one of the basics of hindu culture

  • Bhishma

  • I really don't understand Hindi flims.

  • you have to be british ;o)

  • This is not a movie - it's a series based on the epic Mahabharat.

  • i just found 2 episodes with subtitlles (1 and 4) can somebody tellme where can i found the others ?(english or spanish)

  • can any one tel me where can i find the mahabharat katha

  • thank you !!

  • Is Mahabharat Katha any good?

  • the best Epic in the world....

  • If you are talking about the sequel to the Mahabharata series, I heard that it didn't live up to this serial. They filmed Mahabharata Katha roughly ten years later, so the actors looked aged. Nitish Bharadwaj was busy doing Vishnu Puran, so they had the actor playing Santanu (Rishabh Shukla) act as Krsna.

  • well shantanu was always thinking that she will leave this son then next then next

he had no other choice thats why he kept giving birth to more sons

  • i hate it when people ask for subtitles...pls dont pretend as if you dont know Hindi and if you really can't understand Hindi then it is shame for you to be an Indian. This way you are just making fun of urself. Have you ever heard a French saying - "I can't understand French"..??

  • R u an idiot, its because we have regional languages and due to political plays some couldn't learn hindi and hindi is not the mother tongue of everyone in india and one can choose not to study hindi. So there is nothing wrong in asking subtitles.

  • God you are an idiot.

  • Hindi is jus one more language ... amongst many of Indian languages .. Nothing special ... And don't make such disgusting comments .. That will only make ppl whose mother tongue is not Hindi really pissed off ..

  • It was Akashaapo's comment I was responding to, dumbfuck.

  • Why on BR Chopra's globe, North East of India isn't on India's map? Just as the film starts, 1 can see he took out N/E India out of the map. Is he suggesting something here! I'm from Tripura & I'm an Indian just as the others and I'm proud of being Indian and been born in Tripura which was an independent state all the time in history of India. I do NOT want to see this kind stupidity done by a respected film director whose films make impacts on every Indian's. Correct the map please. Jay Hind!
