if anything if you realy want something better and have the money get camtisa studios. it will crisp it up depending on how the video was recorded. if its a small rec then it wont look good putting it in hd. it will strech it making it worse.

@lowtone10 Probably a bit late to tell you this. Windows 7 does have Movie Maker. Click the Start button so the program list pops up. You should have Windows Movie Maker 2.6 in the list. Click on it and drag to the desktop to create a desktop icon. If it's not in the list, expand Accessories and it may be there, as it used to be in XP.

there is a method in xp that i use for my videos that converts it to 1200x720, with hd quality, just do a google for it it should pop out, just i am not shure it will work for 7 but you could try...

you are probably converting your videos to a format that windows movie maker does not understand, try converting to .avi as this is the main format that Windows Movie Maker uses.

Graphics cards, it's not the processor, I run a Celeron D and a Sapphir 2600XT 512MB GDDR3. I just got it in last night and working today, it makes everything smooth and super fast.

and also when you have the Vista Basic theme on everything goes tons of times quicker! :)

You're just making the resolution 1280x720, so YouTube will show the HD option, but you can do this in any video editing program, really. When you export, you can always choose the resolution, the ratio, the encoding type, etc., but I guess MPEG Streamclip is made just for this. I read on their site that they use better scalers than most programs, so that's the up-side.

There are some which allow you to make presets. Just make one which produces/renders into MPEG4 (MP4) format with 1280 X 720 and put as high quality for video and audio.
