  • Wooooooow!! I love it!!

  • is it just me or does anyone else hear a cymbal between 1:35 and 1:38 lol

  • Gorgeous.

  • This is by far the best arrangement of this song I've ever heard, with an impeccable execution of such an emotional (and difficult) piece. It really gave me chills. Keep up with the great work!

  • how sang the high G or D in the group? Props!

  • i hear the high G6 at the end... just saying.

    i also hear a D5, but i DO hear the G6.

  • i always get the chills when i listen to it is so amazing

  • I sang this arrangement with my choir and hit that note and it was a D.

  • @megnut12 on the written version the g isn't written in, but she still sings it here

  • This is the most beautiful arrangement I've ever heard. I had chills listening to this, and I've watched this 3 times now.

  • I am in love with this arrangement. It gives me chills every time I hear it, and singing it with my high school choir was so moving. It really is a gem.

  • Chills! I love this:)

  • What a wonderful arrangement!!! Harmonies are spectacular, very cool ending, congratulations!

  • :) she took it up to a D i got my tuner out, hehehe

  • She starts on a G, then takes it up to a D...is that really so hard for you guys to figure out? you're both right

  • okay, i know this argument is kind of done at this point, no agreement is going to be met, im just kind of confused because the soprano note at the end is clearly a D, i dont understand where anybody got the idea that it is a G. is it just because the song is in the key of G?

  • WHETHER ITS A D OR A G IT WAS AMAZING OKAY!!!!!!!!!!!

  • SHE IS SINGING A HIGH D.... NOT A G!!! COME ON!!

  • It becomes bad with the "and the rockets red glare..." and further. That must be sung stronger, more powerful.

  • Beautiful.

  • By the way, there's even more to that amazing chord at the end. If you listen in the altos you can hear a biting 9th. Well done :)

  • I bought this arrangement ;-)

  • Just amazing. Amazing. I wish our national anthem made hairs stand up on the back of my neck like this does!

  • awesome balance! i want this arrangement!

  • I love watching this time and time again!

This arrangement never gets old! :D

thanks for the beautiful music. :D

  • I love the arrangement!!! Very nice work. I didn't see anyone mention this, but after listening to this a few times I swear I can hear pitch straightening. It is most noticible on the "brave" post near the end. It sounds very digitized to me.

To do this there would of had to been a second studio recording made with individual microphones. I have used Cubase 5 software and this sounds very similar to the effect that happens when I straighten pitches. It is still a great arrangement!!!

  • haha could i possibly have the sheet music for this?

  • alot of people forget that this song was written at a time when americans were fighting for theyr freedom against tyranny....now, when i see the flag of america, i think of tyranny....our government and the people that support it, have destroyed america...this is no longer a land of the free, it is the land of oppressive government and dictatorship...a land where the government is the master, and the people are subjects of the master...the opposite of the america over 200 years ago

  • OUTTTTT....FUCKKNNNNN......STANNNNDDDNNNNNNNN

  • if the tempo had more of a barbershop swing to it this would have been, imho the PERFECT arrangement. It was awesome., truly awesome

  • When you originally wrote this, did you want the high G to come out as an overtone (I'm not saying it is an overtone.. I'm just saying that because it's extremely high and personally when I wrote really high stuff, I use it to have an overtone quality) or did you want a really thick chord with the root to top it off?

  • Absolutely beautiful. What an incredible arrangement and performance! Thank you for sharing this!

  • phenomenal!

  • 14 people disliked this? I guess that happens...

  • did is there a way i could get a copy of this sheet music so i can sing it? or do i have to buy it...haha

  • jdray83 I don't care. Thank you for posting this beautiful arrangement.

  • Very Very very ... nice .. so pure .. so strong, so beutifull .. so sweet ... so wouw !

  • This is the best rendition of The Star Spangled Banner I've ever heard.

I hate when people do lots of slides and deviate so much from the original song because they're trying to be creative.

    THIS was truly excellent!

  • "Were so gallantly streaming..."

Wish I could make that my ringtone

  • Apparently my destiny is to just go from video to video more and more amazed. SOOOOOOOOOO much TALENT!

  • wow !

    amazing !

    I love this.

  • Wow. This is wonderful! Could you post the live recording without the adjustments?

  • I never really noticed before how important it is to control vibrato when you are singing in a choir - until this video. All of these people have straight, smooth voices and it makes the song sound so clean and clear without the individual vibrato clouding up the clear notes. SO beautiful.

  • 0:25 "Whose broad strips and bright stars, through the perilous fight"... Perfect arrangement! Brilliant!

  • I LOVE this arrangement! It is incredible! My favorite arrangement of it ever!

  • This is amazing. I listen to this whenever I need a mood boost.

  • ...OMG! Those harmonies were sick...I never thought I'd say that about TSSB, but here I am sayin' it and I'm not takin' it back.

That was awesome. Your tenors are pretty rad too.

  • OH MY GOSH!!!! I have been listening to this for about a month and have just now experienced the high G. It is utterly fabulous!!!!! It is so high that it literally borders my threshold for hearing!!!! You are so lucky to be able to hit that note!

  • erm - that dissonance is called a suspension (and is a wonderful trick) and fyi Tibbershet, a Gb is an F#!!! - just a different way of calling the same note!

  • That's probably the best arrangement of that song that I've heard. The disanence (sorry if I spelled that wrong) at "whose broad stripes and bright stars" was so perfect. You're sopranos are amazing, especially whoever hit that G!

  • It's okay. Dissonance is the correct spelling. And the dissonance was the Gb contradicting with the G and then resolving.

  • Oops I meant F#...

  • I also heard a G overtone above the highest D. Amazing...

  • That D was AMAZING PERFECT!!!! So in tune! EVERYBODY WAS!!!! AND THE PERFECT JAZZ VERSION!!!! THANK GOD FOR MUSIC!

  • So is it the girl on the end in the white shirt that hits that G? Because whoever it is, I commend them. And your bass is simply amazing at 1:29!! I can only hear the note with headphones on because it is so low!!

  • This gives me chills every time I listen to it.

  • flawless and the last phrase was gorgeous!!

  • Absolutely stunning! Flawless. Great writing...Great singing!

  • WOW!!! This is THE best arrangement I have heard of this song. Notes and voices. WOW!!!!

  • people are listening to two different things there is a soprano 1 singing a very high note BUT there is also a overtone sitting on top thanks to the ensemble being in tune!!

  • i really like this. i think its a great arragement!!!

  • I don't know which G everyone keeps referring to. But if they're talking about the last high note by the one soprano, it is not a G, she's singing a D.

  • @GpD79 just so everyone knows, she is singing a high G above high C, trust me, I wrote it, I was there and she nailed it..just like she always does

  • Oh wow. So I listened to it again and I didn't hear what you were talking about. So, then I listened again and harder, and then I HEARD IT! HAHA, I feel stupid now. I think my dinky computer speakers may of had something to do w/ me not hearing it before, but GEEZ, it's so high it doesn't even sound like a high note, it sounds more like an overtone. You have some amazing soprano's there. Sorry if I offended anyone, please accept my apology. Great arrangement btw.

  • I think that most people hear that really loud high D and either think that it is the G, or that there is no G (like me). You shouldn't feel stupid since it's hard to hear anyway haha

  • You have to listen very carefully for it. It's being covered up by the high D for the most part. I thought it was a D at first until a friend of mine (who's a vocal performance major) told me to listen to the cutoff at the end. You'll hear the G.

  • @GpD79 Find a free piano tuner online... Its a G.

  • @GpD79 Um, no. It's a G. Deaf person.

  • @Whatsmynameagain03 Are you that dense that you haven't figured out that we've already established that it's a G? Way to be witty commenting on a comment that's well over a year old.

  • Comment removed

  • in reverse order from the end, the notes she sings are D6, C6, A5, G5. I'm so confused...

  • did she seriously jusT hit a G???

  • How can I buy this arrangement??

  • wow, that's the highest note i have ever heard vocally. AMAZING! my jaw dropped when i heard the G

  • Thats what they call the G spot!

  • haha! nice

  • you guys totally did awesome job gave me chills, but there is one thing that definitely bothers me ... unless your sight reading you guys shouldn't have needed the sheet music! It takes away from the preformance!

  • they were reading it...

  • the best i've ever heard.

  • omg your sopranos are amazing. that was so good.

  • Ah, what an ending. I'm actually singing this very arrangement for my high school's choir, and somehow, there are sopranos that have a D at 8 in the morning. Incredible arrangement.

  • Perfect - Almost a Welsh Choir.

  • This is the best version of the song I have heard. Period. Simple as that. My family is a very military family and we are proud of our country. My mother and father both are Army veterans and my uncle, a staff sergeant, was killed in Iraq in 2005. My great uncle was a marine on Iwo Jima during WWII, and you really make my proud when I hear this over and over again!

  • As a Marine having served this country; I have heard the National Anthem numerous times. This is the best I have ever heard it. Just hearing this song makes me proud of the time and dedication that I have gave for this country. Outstanding job.

  • WOW

  • Ahhhhhhh, always nice to hear some lovely voices singing a beautiful arrangment of an old fashioned song.

  • Congrats on getting this published! Really is a nice arrangement.

  • so nice voices :D

  • This is a great arrangement of this song. I would have like to have heard it live instead of a recording that has been tampered with. Just an opinion but you can easily tell throughout that it is has been tampered with.

  • Close your eyes, and drink this in! Awesome!

  • incredible!

  • Who is the one that sings that high G at the end?

The lady in pink with the black jacket? Whoever it was, it sounded phenomenal.

  • I actually think it's the one on the very right side, watch her facial expressions; I think she is the one who goes for that awesome note!

  • this is the MOST AMAZING thing ove ever heard in my life and im being serious about that!

  • They sang it well only problem was no one stood up showing respect for our nation anthem.

  • Wow. Thats good stuff right there. And at the end with your sopranos High notes and wen the men com in just make it. The sound was so pure and rang in your concert hall.

  • Beautitul!

  • DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNNNNNNNGGGGGGGG!!

sounds better than those voices that they pop in to those keyboard synthesizers! :D

  • i love you <3

  • This is still probably the most amazing Star Spangled Banner arrangement I've ever heard.

    AMAZING job.

    =]

  • this is SUCH a good choir wow!

    love it

  • oh wow i love this version!! our version isnt nearly as good

    this is amazing

  • your group is great!

  • DUDE! 2 overtones! The D and the HIGH G! Nice stuff! Too many legger lines! You can hear them after they're finished singing!!!!! Narly!

  • They aren't overtones. =).

    They're actually being sung.

  • They have to be overtones, because this group is too tight not to cut off together. I know overtones when I hear them. I'm talking the D above High C and the fourth above that, the G!

  • I know, but they're being sung. I have the original sheet music that they're singing from.

  • You just don't understand. The ringing that happens after they have cut off, stopped singing, not projection or making any noise, the sound that is being made between the time the group cuts off and the applause, THAT'S what I'm talking about! The notes that are being sung, the D and the G are resonating enough to create the Overtone OCTAVES of those notes! It's miraculous!

  • Just to end this before any fighting ensues...this is my video and my arrangement, and grandpianoalex is correct. The D above high C and the G above that are both being sung and the ringing of those exact notes that you hear after the cutoff is simply the lovely reverb in the concert hall. I hope this clears things up for everyone!

  • Okay, maybe I'm not making myself clear enough. The sound that is being produced that I strongly feel are overtones are the whistle tones! I do hear the girl on the far right sing the High G, but I hear the octave of that and the fourth below, the D above the G that the girl sings. When it rings in the concert hall, it rings with immense clearity above all that is being sung, that's what I've always known to be an overtone. It's the super high whistle tones! Unless you have a Maria Carrie!

  • this is my favorite. Love it....

  • WOW!!!!!!!!!

  • God bless the USA!

  • sounds so good!

  • WOW! that was awesome!

  • best rendition

    of the star spangled banner

    ever!!

  • BEAUTIFUL! YO THAT SOUNDS MAD GOOD

  • on the recording, there's an even higher note above the g.

  • I finally got my own copy of this arrangement! You can order it from Alfred Publishing...the item number is 00-31206 and the UPC is 038081339771. You'll know you have the right one because it is listed with the following: Words by Francis Scott Key, music by John Stafford Smith / arr. Jamey Ray.

  • Where can I find the sheet music??? This is so amazing!! Flawless!!!!

  • ps I never thought I'd find an arrangement that would challenge the Take 6 version and this really does. Your vox are so damned clean - as are the harmonies. The suspensions are awesome - reminds me to a degree of Cruxifixus by Lotti (if you can, check out the Sixteen version conducted by Harry Christophers).

  • awesome - absolutely fantastic arrangement and so well sung - strangely, this is cleaner than the studio version you have posted!

  • Holy shit! I'm a voice major at the univ. of Memphis and that was absolutely amazing! That last note was incredible. Chills ran all over me. In a way that soprano not is so high that you think you're not even hearing it and that it's just an overtone, but then when you listen close enough you hear it! What was that? A high G, did u say? Incredibly fantastic!

  • beautiful song and voice! well done!

  • Absolutely wonderful! :)

  • what was the highest soprano note??

    this was AMAZING.

  • G, Sarah. It was a G. Let's see you do that!

  • Noo I'm pretty sure that was an overtone... I think the highest note was a D

  • Sorry to burst your bubble buddy, but she was singing a G. Mr. Ray confirmed it in the previous comments if you actually care enough to look through all of them. I'll prove it to you when ALFRED FINALLY HAS COPIES OF THE SHEET MUSIC AVAILABLE ON ITS WEBSITE grrrrr...

  • Wow!!! Thanks for posting this great rendition.

  • I agree with every positive comment that has been posted. Your arrangement and the voices prove to be an awesome combination. To be honest, I have never been a fan of our anthem because it speaks of pride of war and not about pride of country. That's kind of sad to say but true. You've taken it to another level and now I can at least say that I truly enjoyed the performance. Outstanding!!!

  • In my opinion, it speaks more of persistence and determination under difficult circumstances such as war, which can be proved by the fact that it was written during (or after, correct me if I'm wrong) a shelling by the British. The fact that the flag was still there during the bombardment can be seen as pride of the country.

  • I agree very much so!

  • THIS IS AMAZING

  • You all are going to heaven. There is no way you can sing like that and not go there. God loves you all so very much to be able to make such a perfect sound.

  • This is the best rendition EVER!!!

  • This has to be published it is amazing!!!!

  • beautiful arrangement--

    who is publishing it?

  • wow....lovely spankin this arrangement....can I get this anywhere on cd?

it's the best arrangement i have heard.

    i love it.

  • The ending was fantastic

  • I love it!

    You did an awesome job.

  • This is one of the best arrangements I've ever heard!!

  • this is the easily the most beautiful thing i've heard in my life. maybe it's not that much of a compliment as i'm only 15..

for once, everyone stayed on key, and didn't use excessive vibrato

i really love that gorgeous high note at the end<33

haha, i'm a girl who can barely sing an octave above middle C. i can sing lower though....haha srry, completely besides the point.

    love the arrangement!

  • Indeed a GORGEOUS video! I love it!

  • was someone actually singing the high g at the end??

we're singing this arrangement in my choir right now and i have trouble with the d

    woww

    impressive :)

  • wow, when u said "high" g, u werent kidding. :) anyways, bravo.

  • Chills!!!

  • Wow what an awesome arrangement!

  • OMGsh, that's simply amazing. Thank you. God bless you.

  • that gave me 6 sets of chills in a row

srry to tell you what you already know, but this is an amazing arrangement. i've never heard one like this...

  • This is great! Is it at all possible to get a copy of this arrangement! Beautiful!!

  • I love this. I think I have watched this like 50 times in the past 6 months. Haha, seriously. This is great. The arrangement is GRAND.

  • I would love to have a copy of this arrangement! How can I make that happen?

  • Hair raising...beautiful...how can I get a copy of this arrangement?

  • Wow! Was that only voices at the end? It sounded like there was some instrument accompanyment added, but I don't see any instruments!

  • Amazing. Ammmaaaaazing.

  • I have been searching youtube all day for arrangements of the SSB to find new parts to add to my group's version and this is without a doubt the most spectacular version I have ever heard in my life - it almost brought tears to my eyes and it definitely sent shivers across my skin. You are an amazing writer and I enjoyed every minute of this, congratulations to the group as well; my highest regards to all of you.

  • I've been watching this video for quite some time now. I found it in a random search of the Star Spangled Banner. This is my favorite arrangement out of any I've ever experienced. I hope that one day I will be able to write as beautifully as you do. :)

  • lol will ferrell! xD i dont care what other ppl may think, i think it's safe to say that this is THE BEST national anthem EVER performed

  • awesome!!!

  • i cant stop listening to this! lol now the crazy high note at the end is amazing me... i love it!

  • PERFECTLY EXECUTED!!!

  • they should play this arrangement at the Olympics =).

  • wow! Not everyday you hear people as talented as this! Best job on the National Anthem i've heard! lol

  • this is probably the most amazing thing i have ever heard.

  • i love the echoing "free" with the crazy low note. Nicely done and keep it up!

  • Incredibly well done.

    Great performers

and wonderful job by the arranger.

    I loved it.

  • I always come back to this video... it's awesome. Have you thought of doing a studio recording of this arrangement? I'd totally buy this on iTunes.

  • haha its will ferrell

  • I absolutely love this peace. Your entire choir is phenomenal and should be applauded for your work. Congratulations, and please keep singing!

  • i like the part "brave" is so cool. overall it was awesome.

  • OOOHHH, She hit dat M.C. note... PERFECTLY sung!!!

  • this was amazing!!!!
