Omar Vizquel was the greatest shortstop ever. If you are a Giants fan and you read this, you have no idea what he did for Cleveland. Omar said that he was proud to be a Giant, but the fact is that he is an Indian through and through. What he did for the city was unimaginable. He is my idol, as a Cleveland Indians fan, and as a shortstop.
Yes he´s as much Indian as Lion. He said that if he did it to the Hall OF Fame he wanted his plaque wearing his Cleveland cap and uniform. He was as proud to be an indian as to be a Caracas Lion (Leones Del Caracas) the team that he played for 13 seasons since 17 up to 41 years old. So the people from Caracas proudly share the honor with Cleveland as the homeland of this wonderful player.
When you look at every sport, you think of the ONE in that sport. One of the Greatest, if not the Greatest. MJ's name would be announced after talking about Basketball, Ali's when talking about Boxing, and Bonds' when talking about Baseball. Whether you hate him or not.
Congrats king. And a great show of class from Omar.
LOL I had NO IDEA that Omar was a funny guy, on the field he looks so damn serious. And he is also so humble for a future Hall of Famer. I'm glad I saw this. I've been following Omar's wizardry since Cleveland. Now about Barry being up there with Ali and Michael Jordan, hmmmm that's pushing it, home run record and all. Especially compared to MJ. I mean, is Barry Bonds to baseball what Michael Jordan was/is to basketball? Don't think so. Hey dwizzlefilms, thanks for taping and posting this.
Omar is not only hysterically funny but breaks the Class meter.
Lots of great stories about O. One is about when he left his wallet on a gas pump in Cleveland. Someone found it and returned it to Omar who wanted to shower the woman with dinner for her and her family, game tickets, etc. O made it a point to go on the pre-game show to publicly thank this woman. His green card and all work documents were in that wallet. This is before he became a U.S. citizen. Those papers-very important.
