strange how Bill seems to resent the guitar hero image that followed his work with Be Bop Deluxe . I would have to think that he now knows he is loved for more than being a guitar god . none the less I worship the man .
Nice video, fits the song very well. And that's my favourite guitar solo ever; short and sharp but classic Nelson tone. I recall that's the only solo on the album, which I always thought was a shame.
@GravyDaveNewson ,cheers gravy, you're right ,the masterful nelson guitar solo fell foul to the wave of electro synth on this album, still brilliant though !
@GravyDaveNewson I saw Red Noise live in 1979 and when Bill Nelson introduced this song he said something like "This song has a guitar solo for those of you who like that sort of thing." I was one of those.
@GravyDaveNewson this was the very first LP i EVER bought.still got it.recently got on itunes as well.i love this album, and, yes!that guitar solo is superb, very tasteful.i'm actually glad that its the only solo on the album.too many solo's can,"yawn" an album.bill knew what he was doing
I love the whole song, but don't you just love the solo starting at 1:31 ? isn't it nice to just click the link for 1:31 and just listen to it over and over again? 1:311:311:31 !!!
Bill Nelson has *long deserved* to be included in the Classic Axemeisters 'hall-of-fame', along with Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, George Harrison, Brian May, Jimmy Page, Jeff Beck, Mick Ralphs, et al.
IMHO, Nelson was - and is *still* considered *way ahead of his time*...which is why, sadly, he is a mere *footnote's footnote* in all music annals.
Bloody Excellent. You captured the song and paired it to the slides so well. I post a lot of shows myself and I can appreciate the work you put in to make this work so well.
A photo of Jean Cocteau in here. What a great track.

Yep... good solo, from an A1 guitarrist. But catch Dave Gregory's solo on "Ten Feet Tall" as originality goes! (XTC, of course).
