I am liberal and I still support troops. I have friends who have brothers over in the Iraq War, I hate the fact that we are over there, but the fact of the matter is they are. The way the authorities react to protest was horrid in Vietnam, look at Kent State. The fact is though, they didn't protest against the troops, it was against the war and what it had become. Some of you really don't understand what war is and you really need to look at it differently. Cause is different then Troops.

I hate the 'I don't support the troops' bullshit. War isn't neatly black & white, morality wise. When people fight they fight to keep themselves and their buddies alive, and your average soldier certainly has nothing to do with the tactics and politics as employed by higher up. I personally don't support the Iraq war, but I certainly having nothing against the guys fighting there. Some of the people that commented aren't any better then the guys who would spit at returning Vietnam veterans.

Most of Vietnam's area is jungle, and in the jungle the tanks can't be used otherwise than, as you siad, "defenses on Fire Bases" or in the cities (which are not jungles anyway).To win in Vietnam US had to control the jungle, whcich was the base of Viet Cong and cut off VC's supply and that could only be done by infatry, you "supercilious chode",whatever that means.
