swimhurl: I can't believe what you said, Randy didn't show regression in skills? He was like 50 in this video. I never met Randy, but listening to him talk, he seems like a nice person. In his youth, if Carter didn't boycott the olympics, Randy would have won 2 gold medals.Dan Gable only won 1 gold medal. If he wants to wrestle or fight in his middle age, then good for him. But I realize I made a mistake in criticizing him. Because everybody likes Randy.
Much respect for both guys... to Randy Lewis for being one of the greatest wrestlers of all time... and to Moza Fay for showing respect and not throwing Randy when he had the chance.
Moza Fay: Sorry I said Randy Lewis shouldn't compete. I didn't think you would read it, and I was half joking. I know he's a nice guy. I listened to many of his interviews. But if he wants to wrestle , he better work out year round. I know the college guys will be all happy to say they wrestled a gold medalist.
I will tell you what. You cannot fault Moza Fay for beating the man they put in front of him. That being said, Randy Lewis could have tech fall'd Fay hammered drunk in his prime. I've personally seen him disassemble the Steiner brothers drunk at a party. anyone ripping on Randy Lewis for wrestling is probably a loser themself
To be inspired. It's a wonderful thing. And few "things" in this world bring that out of people more than wrestling. It may be part vanity, part pride, whatever. But to have that fire for competition still burning at the stage in life Mr. Lewis is in is something to marvel at. That was pure. From the heart. We should all be so lucky.
its embarrassing that moza didnt launch him. its dissrespectful towards randy lewis. he would not have come back if he wasnt serious, so why would someone brush him aside by not throwing him? if he was twenty years younger and any of you where in that situation tell me, would you have thrown it? why not now? why treat him as anything less than another wrestler?
@gaelan69 Its respectful that moza didn't throw him. Why do serious damage to a old man. Even if he was serious about coming back to wrestle, moza just proved to him that he cant by having a chance to throw him and not doing it. Moza wouldnt have had that chance to throw him if he wouldve went 100%. He could take him down at will and turn him.
Lewis needs to lose the belly and try a shot at 149. Just kidding. He would get hammered there too. Fay was going about 75%. Thank goodness Lewis didn't wrestle Poeta!! All the people that thought Lewis would win are living in a fantasy world. You can't turn back the clock. If it were so easy then why wouldn't more wrestlers try a comeback in their forties. And the practice room is alot different than live match.
I wouldve launched him...Good thing he didnt I guess but he did come in saying he would "win" this tournament...So with that he wouldve been thrown...good to see someone take the tempo up a notch...

@tonyfressola How is Randy Lewis going to challenge Burroughs for the 2012 Olympic team if he cannot beat Moza Fay?

@tonyfressola Dude, Lewis should have won this easily...with the experience advantage he has over Fay. I don't get the regression in his skills.

Sorry Randy. It's time for the Geritol. These college guys are too young for you. You're gonna get hurt. Try a new sport.

glad to see Moza handled it with class and didnt toss him at 3:08, that could have been really ugly.
