@irvingzapata The suggested models for an Epiphone Dot are the B7, B12, B70, and B700. The B5 which is used in this video is for flat top electric guitars.
Just a thought, if you were to install a B5 to a guitar using the Vibromate system, would you get the same addition in tone as the Bigsby wouldn't be in direct contact with the body of the guitar in the same manner as drilling into the body?
it should be close, but its difficult to say. Having the vibrato attached directly to the body is best way to transfer the energy and increase the sustain; but how much difference there would actually be is hard to say.
Great...thank you for the vid...wish you would have done a little bit 'o whammy work a the end though instead of straight strums...overall excellent tutorial though
I've read somewhere that installing a bigsby on a telecaster would involve shimming the neck to accommodate the added height of the bridge. Is that true?
I was just wondering if you can put the bigsby on any guitar.. I have a fender bullet and i figure upgrading it would be a better experience than buying a new better guitar...
This is a nice demonstration...but it would have been more helpful to play the exact riff (using the same p/u settings) at the beginning and the end of the demonstration to truly compare the tone pre vs. post bigsby
i have a tele thinline and a redundant bigsby lying around, but have yet had the confidence to make the leap. this vid is great and thanks for the guide but by the sounds of it the only way the tone is altered is it has become wooly! why did you pick the none equiped guitar, in a way only a tele can be picked, an then strum like a school kid to demonstrate the difference? didn't sound too hot afterwards i think, other than that, great vid :)
I'm considerin gettin a Les Paul next but I have no idea which model would suit it best. Can we have a video about the various Bigsby models as well as the installation of the Bigsby on a Les Paul (archtop) please? :)
Kewl retrofit btw. The guitar has more sustain but bites less. I prefer the Bigsby tone though.
bigsby's on a les paul install the same way as on the archtop semi-hollows (check out the install on the epi dot studio, and get the same bigsby trem; B700)
i heard bigsbys on les pauls go out of tune constantly, because of the angle of the headstock. anyway have you seen the new les pauls with floyd rose trems on?
On this particular Squier the strings don't go through the body, they go through the back of the bridge (unlike all other Teles). Even if it was a string-thru body you won't need to once the Bigsby's installed.
What's an estimate on the installation if I pay someone to install the b5 onto an epiphone Les paul jr? Also do I need to get a bridge? I cant paste the URL on here...but if u just type in "LP junior" on the guitar center website it will show up. Thanks!
as your post was a month ago i dont know if you know the answer but yes they do :D. eventually i might buy the left handed version of the kit to fit to my tele
can i install this on a epiphone dot?

@ajam50 Not true. It needs a rounded bottom... though I'm not sure how it would work on an Explorer shaped guitar.

I just ordered by B5 kit based on this video. Easier to install than i thought.
Will post pics or video when it's done.
I have the same Tele. It's already hotrodded with a hot rails humbucker.. why not a bigsby?
chemikiller 3 years ago
Seems like an interesting project to do a cheap Tele such as the Affinity series.

Great video, thanks. But... what's the point of installing a bigsby on a Squier??

i have a question. Can i put a bigsby on a Stratocaster?
andrei89 4 years ago
this is great. question, why did the bridge-plate have to be put on a lil crooked compared to the pickguard?
If you lined them up straight would there be any problems with the resulting bridge angle?
I'm asking because I might do a project like this, and would rather have the gaps nice and pretty.

Is that all we get?!! After 10 minutes of a film about installing a Bigsby - we get two seconds of the Bigsby in action ?? !!!
buynowguitars 4 years ago
On this telecaster, the strings don't go through the body. I expect they ran through the back edge of the bridge plate originally.
ldvries 4 years ago 10
What if they do run thorugh it ? do u just alter it with the new bridge and leave the holes in the back?
jebas1322 3 years ago
Thats what I thought. On my tele, they do go through the back, would that mean i am unable to install a bigsby?
Slapbass13 2 years ago
Bigsby's just look great even if, as in this case, the damn thing probably costs more than the guitar it's fitted to!

I've heard that the B7 model is the best for a Les Paul.

Most people use the B7 Kit. Take a look at the
Bigsby B7 Vibrato Installation Demo video. It has a Gretsch that's similar to a Les Paul.
