IMO Gears of War 3 doesn't preserve the feel of Gears Of War(as a whole not the first game). First and most obvious thing is the menu. WTF? Why when I start a game after the Lambent/Epic Intro I see a CoD4 style menu? Secondly, the details. These are what creates the atmosphere, the theme. Where are all of the destroyed buildings, the 'bluriness' as I call it.

Gears of War 1 was horror-y and good. Gears of War 2 was creepy and awesome. Gears of War 3 is neutral and ok-ish.
