The original fights didn't need to be sped up to make them better, they simply need background music. A large part of what makes the prequil trilogy fights seem so epic is the music played in those fights. If you were to watch those fights muted, they would seem much less amazing, and if you were to add a good soundtrack to the original fights, they would seem far more impressive.

IMO, the only original trilogy duel that is not "on par" with the prequels speed wise is A New Hope. That should be sped up, but the other two are just fine and on par with the prequels in terms of action. good vid though

The prequels had better lightsaber fighting (if not more realistic) and better effects, so I think that these kind of edits are pretty cool. I still hate the prequels, but the effects and fighting was better.

@LifeJuice90 I disagree - the lightsaber duels and Force powers are simply too unimpressive and slow in the OT - and I grew up with the OT before I saw the PT. The OT needs all of its duels and Force powers redone. Even the PT needs work - not one ROTS duel lived up to my expectations. This is all a matter of preference though.

@DarthZillasaurus I disagree, the PT destroyed the coolness of the force and the lightsaber. They were over used. There was no climax in any of the PT, because we saw explosions and lightsabers 500 times before each big duel. I prefer the emotional depth in the lightsaber duels of the OT to the flashiness of the PT. The only reason I like Star Wars is the emotional depth absent from other Sci Fi, including the PT.

Good job but I did not see much of a difference. I like the orignal duel in empire. It is a good match up, because Vader just totally owns Luke with a lightsaber. But the end was way to sped up, it went to fast, you should have left that the same. Nice try though, not to knock your video.

The first part is very subtle and nice, doesn't appear riced out as the EpIII fight is by nature ;) The last swings may be a bit too fast but nothing is perfect :)

If you want to do even better, try to lower the pitch of the speeded up sound track without lowering its speed. When Vader gets his shoulder tapped the moan is slightly to ohigh pitched.

But otherwise keep up it's damn nice !

I didn't see much in the way of changes. Empire is my favorite, along with Revenge,and I didn't really think that there was a problem with the duel before. I appreciate any changes that can actually bring a different aspect,perhaps better(Like the vid where someone added Qui-Gon's spirit to the end of Return),but I just didn't see much cut out except for Leia and them.

@nobunaga1231 You're quite correct, I see you've studied some sword handling. Sword fighting in original trilogy is called Djem So-form or Form V in star wars universe, which is mixture of real classic fencing and Kendo. It was created by stunt coordinator Peter Diamond.

the reason they were supposed to be slow is that luke had minimal training at this point and vader was a shell of his former self. in later novels luke is depicted as being eve faster than the prequels in some instances

Legacy of the force novels, especially. Luke, even in his sixties was more than a match to any aspiring Sith or darksider. Best example could be Darth Caedus and Luke having a showdown on board Anakin Solo, which was quite...brutal.

Darth Vader and Anakin are not the same person, that's how poorly written the prequels were. Any plotholes? 100% blame goes towards them.
