Very nice to watch. Glad you posted this. I do have a question though, what type of dolphin are the black ones, they remind me of a beluga whale. They're absolutely beautiful.
this is my dream to swim with dolphins and hug them and everything im obessed with them i have a dolphin tattoo on my leg lol i think they are such beautiful animals :)
@missnoodles996 how is it even relevant? The dolphins shown here may well have been taken from elsewhere but regardless they are still living an abusive and unhealthy life. Just because the us tries to act goodie two shoes and pretends "if we don't have the issue, then I suppose no one else does" is pathetic. Dolphins still get slaughtered and abused in aquatic chambers every day and it's not going to stop with just one country putting it's hypocritical foot down..
@MrRootbrian It's changed every day, so they never get bored. The show is never the same twice. They're given everything at different times, to stop them getting bored.
None of these dolphins are from The Cove. There are NO dolphins from Taiji in the whole of the US. Like every proper aquarium, they stand against the awful killings. Go on their YT page, and find the video called "Investigation into The Cove Part 1". It explains it pretty well.
@darkshadowsfollowme He has built his own roller coaster, his own giant microwaving robots (two or more of them), currently travelling around the US (even though I hate the country i admire it) and getting out to see everything he can and sharing his experience.. so listen loser.. pretty sure he can achieve alot more than you can
i just watched part of "the cove" documentary and its about the Japanese and they kill the dolphins which is sad and they should be stopped but they kill whales and other sea mammals to its not about them being in captivity..
@scrapkilla321 There are NO dolphins from Taiji in the whole of the US. That would be illegal. The Cove, whilst raising awareness of the awful killings, is still a hollywood movie, and FULL of lies. Watch the video called "Investigation of The Cove".
@unholytim I'd like to know what makes you think these dolphins are under a lot of stress. Cetaceans are especially susceptible to disease and if those dolphins really were under that much stress, they would have all died by now.
@unholytim What do you think they put in the fish? I know that vitamins, water, any medications, are put inside fish. Honestly The Cove isn't the most credible source of information on captive marine mammals. It was directed by a man who has a very biased view against captivity. He has a tendency to bend or make up "facts" to prove his point that marine mammals should not be kept in captivity and freed. So I suggest you take all he says regarding captivity with a grain of salt.
@unholytim There are NO dolphins from Taiji in the whole of the US. That would be illegal. The Cove, whilst raising awareness of the awful killings, is still a hollywood movie, and FULL of lies. Watch the video called "Investigation of The Cove".
@KendrickSF , I have not heard of it. I was taken to the behind the scenes area or staging area and it did not seem like there was any abuse of the animals involved in the show. I will check this doc out when I get a chance. Thankyou.
@dovetastic I didn't mean to berate you in any way. Unfortunately, when I see captive marine mammals, I see the blood in the water from that documentary.
@KendrickSF i watched the cove a few nights ago for the first time and this sickens me also.. thinking of joining some sort of OPS style organisation now
@036265 What the Cove doesn't explain is that there are no dolphins from Taiji in the whole of the US. That would be illegal. The dolphins from Taiji go to aquariums in Asia.
@dovetastic The abuse of the animals is having them in a tank, basically it goes like this (I took this information from the cove also). Dolphins use their sense of sonar to see things clearer.. it can penetrate through a humans body, can see a beating heart, can even see if you are expecting.. now imagine if they are in a tiny tank where their sonar becomes useless, it confuses them.. being able to hear a screaming crowd.. yet cant see them.. they end up dying of stress
@dovetastic Please ignore him. SeaWorld is a wonderful place that save millions of animals lives! They also have wonderful facilities for the animals. I can save you the time: The Cove shows about the dolphin slaughter in Japan. The director falsely accuses SeaWorld for being the mastermind for it all, when that is not true. SeaWorld has never gotten a dolphin from Japan. SeaWorld saves animals, if you go into their rescue center. (as we speak they are saving a pod of whales that got stranded)
@abmt55 "why the hell would you need to see a documentary to think either way?"
Umm...Because you would find out the truth about how Japanese fisherman inhumanely capture terrified pods of intelligent Cetaceans, gather a few for Sea World shows and slaughter the rest?
@KendrickSF There aren't any dolphins from Taiji in the whole of the US, actually. SeaWorld, like every proper aquarium, are against it. Search "Investigation into The Cove Part 1" on SeaWorld's youtube page, and there's a video explaining it.
@KendrickSF , The Cove is more propaganda than it is documentary. All of the dolphins at seaworld san diego were born at seaworld, and there is no negative reinforcement used on the animals. I know some of the dolphin trainers and they love the dolphins like they would their kids. All of the dolphin pools are within view of the public, so go look for yourself how they are treated before you get "disgusted".
@KendrickSF True. But no where in SeaWorld is there a dead dolphin. SeaWorld has no relation to the slaughter. They promote animal care, and to believe they kill them is stupid. Don't believe anything unless you have proof. The slaughter is horrible, and I hope it stops. But once again, SeaWorld has nothing to do with that. They have not gotten a dolphin from the wild since 1982, and only from America. Take it from someone that spends time around these animals.
As a former Team Member at SeaWorld I can tell you that there is nothing disgusting about this show. SeaWorld treats its animals with great care and actually rescues many animals from dangerous conditions. The Cove is about people who kill dolphins. SeaWorld does nothing of the sort. There is a big difference between the slaughter of dolphins and the rescue and training of dolphins.
@SpecialKateAdventure "As a former Team Member at SeaWorld I can tell you that there is nothing disgusting about this show."
If you don't count how SeaWorld gets it's animals in the first place.
If SeaWorld wants to rescue animals? Fine. Just put them in a nice display area and let people watch them...Don't "train" them like Russian bears or hurdy-gurdy monkeys.
Most of the dolphins in this show were born and raised at SeaWorld
SeaWorld does a LOT of wildlife conservation and protection work. Of course you wouldn't know because you're basing all of your knowledge off of one bullshit movie.
@KendrickSF seaworld doesn't get their orcas from japan... thats one of the reasons why they have a breeding program. "The Cove" is awful but it is not at all related to seaworld. If your going to boycott.. bopycott kamogawa seaworld and the dolphin parks in japan and surrounding areas.
That 'documentary' was very misleading when it comes to this. If you watch closely, the trainers in the Taiji cove are all asian. The dolphins that come from Taiji go to parks in europe and asia. According to the AAZA no captive dolphins from asia have been sent to parks in the U.S. since the 1970's. Moreover, SeaWorld has not had to acquire wild dolphins since the 1980's. What is really very important to take away from that film is the deception foisted on the Japanese people.
Very nice to watch. Glad you posted this. I do have a question though, what type of dolphin are the black ones, they remind me of a beluga whale. They're absolutely beautiful.

But other than that, this video was awesome aside from everything else I mentioned including others. The birds were cool, the diving.
I would like to actually get a recording of that music they used and play it backwards.

I could imagine all of these dolphins going through the same thing day after day and not having any freedom whatsoever to roam free in the oceans.
I saw The Cove and I feel horribly bad for those poor animals.
