This was a the song back in the day when we were with the one we loved....y'all i tell you to live in the era of the '60 a time of adventure and love. a birth of our race. we had a blast.... dancing and social getherings was the thing ( no drugs or very little drinks) we were poor but life was pure and good.... you could walk alone anywhere and not be afread... thank you God for those times.
Man when it comes to this man's music I am just speechless. It is "marvelous", "brillant" and that is just that, straight feeling him... I am a died hard for David Ruffin.. Sorry Otis!!
I love David Ruffin, when he was with the temptations and solo, I could hear him in the background with the temps. I just love his music, he is missed a lot.
I almost teared up listening to this again. It makes me want to go back to my years of when I was a kid and when the music was good with real meaning behind it.
Jeez -- he's hitting the high notes like no other. He was so much better solo than he was with the Temptations. A friend of mine said he believed that David really was not allowed to break loose singing with The Tempts. Their material was just not what he needed to prove his unbelievable talent. And I think he was right.
One of Black America's great Modern Artists...Like many a great artists David Ruffin only seems to now receieve the true acknolwedgement of his genius, now that he has gone. For interpretation of a lyric and turning it into an emotional experience, he was perhaps without peer. Magnificent Soul singer.
Wow, this is truly some of the best 'feel-good' music out there. I love Ruffin so much! You can really get into his music and his voice was just one of a kind. You always knew when he was singing for the natural soul he puts into his work. I'll listen to this VS alot of some of this other stuff that out here now. My 17 and 20 year old brothers and sister even like this song. (We have his ultimate collection) Thanks for posting!
i agree if this song doesn't get you then we need to call a coroner! his voice is so commanding but smooth at the same time.his falsetto seems to rival even the mighty eddie kendricks.eddie seemed to love him very much i wish i knew more about these giants.
I've never understood why he didn't have more commercial success as a solo artist - he's just dynamite - his voice, songs, style, etc. He and Van McCoy were a fine combination. It broke my heart the day David so needlessly died. Wish we'd appreciated him more while we had him.
If memory serves, this great song was done by Van McCoy. Interesting to speculate how David Ruffin would have done working with Thom Bell and the "Philly Sound".
@Ziola28 im 19, and am in love with this sound... why, oh why did mainstream have to go and kill music. david ruffin has one of the most soothing voices ive ever heard

One of David Ruffin's best songs. Underplayed back in the day because of its length. Thanks for posting.

melonhead - You're damn right, Van produced the title track for said album for Motown and wrote the bulk of the songs incl. this.
