Makes one weep with emotion, doesn't it - but the last few bars are cut off, alas. Beautiful, exquisite rendition! Wish this video were commercially available for purchase!
@amonasro100 Agreed, with the single exception of a fabulous FIGARO (Mozart) sung in German with Hilde Gueden, Hermann Prey, Walter Berry, and the list goes on.
This is the BEST duet rendition of this opera. What a treat, two of my favorite interpreters.
This August 1963 Munich recording is downloadable to your mp3 player from several online music sites and you can get this particular clip for 99 cents/69 p (as in British penny)
@svaljr Good, but surely not the best. Try Lisa della Casa, Rothenberger, and others -- mostly on UTube, not a finger's touch away. And while Rothenberger Duet is beautiful, gifted with visuals, etc., nothing and no one can answer to Lisa della Casa's offering. . . At least that is my opinion. . .
Which soprano today could sing this like she? I am totally shoked to listen this again and to know that the german sopranos today dont want to be DEMUETIG to sing this! They just go on to the bigger repertoire ... such fools! With Arabella an Soprano can make a BIG CAREER but this childish young sopranos dont use their brain... they went on to the storms around! Where is the calm tone at the 3rd dimension which gives us the reality back to musical roots? Who can help?
This is one of my favorite moments in all of opera; the truth of the sentiment, so perfectly set by Strauss, never fails to shatter me. This is a beautiful performance, indeed!
beautiful duet! One of the most romantic moment in opera. For me Die Frau ohne Schatten or Elektra is better than Arabella but I'm so Emo and i like emo-sad-music

This historic video or recording is a great fare well to the romantisme of German Singing. Nothing after can match this.
Listen to the diction, listen to the Vortrag,
listen to culture of singing und listen to admirable simplicity of all of them.
This German opera at its best.
