@fearmehnoobs AR15 is more maneuverable because is it smaller and lighter. This is the LAR8-Varmint which has the nice bull barrel. I also have an RRA AR15 (see videos). Love the RRA accuracy on both rifles - but the LAR8 can "reach out" further with the .308.
On my AR15, I have the new Nikon M223 scope which is as accurate as the Nikon Monarch on the LAR8 shown in this video. Love the Nikon scopes and their ballistic software for the iPhone. Great for range adjustments...
@USZ71 if you want a 20 round go to cheaper than dirt if you live in Ca. Pay the $2 and have them disassemble them so they can ship it or check out Crossroads of The West Gunshow look them up. But I agree that ammo would weigh down a already heavy gun. Unless its for the zombie apocalypse?
Nice vid! I own the same rifle except with the adjustable stock. Im looking for some 20 round pmags but not having any luck. Just wondering if you might know a place that sells or manufactures them..? I ordered pmags from Rock River 8 months ago and still have not recived them, they say they are on back order. Btw I mounted the one piece aluminum Rock River scope mount on mine and it works and looks great, well worth the 30$. Now to find a railed forearm that is interchangable with this rifle..
@USZ71 I ordered (and received) the RRA polymer mags for the LAR-8. I highly recommend them! As per another of my videos, I was getting misfeeds and jams with the metal FAL mags they ship with. What happens is the lips on the mag spread over time and leads to misfeeds. No so with the polymers. I bought (3) 20 rounders but would probably but 10 rounders in the future.(20) .308 rounds make for an unnecessarily heavy mag - especially if you wanted to go hunting with it... Good luck!
i have a question for ya, i am trying to find a good, accurate gun that is fun to shoot, and i am stuck between an ar in .223, or an ar in .308, i have never shot a .308 round before so id like to know your thoughts on the accuracy, recoil, and so forth. i own an m1, and thats probably the closest i can relate to the .308 caliber. please reply, im having a hard time deciding on what to do, thanks
@arcanesoldierx It works fine. You push up to engage the catch and lock the bolt open and push down to release and load the barrel with a round. Takes a little getting used to if you are familiar with an AR15, but overall it is in a good location and works well.
Having moved to Colorado, the first thing I did was get the CA "Bullet Button" removed. Second was to get a 20 round magazine - Although, a 10 round is fine for this rifle and I may stick with 10. 20 adds weight and more barrel heat...
@AZGunEnthusiast Indeed, I love being "out of California!" First step was to remove all the "bullet button" restrictions from my rifles. Second set was larger than 10 round magazines and third was my concealed carry permit. Nothing more truthful than "an armed society is a polite society!" Been in CO 6 months and have never seen the middle finger "bird" on the roads here. Hmmmm, I wonder if it is because it is legal (no permit) to carry a loaded firearm in your vehicle...
Cool review. I reviewed the RR LAR 8 and love the gun. Very accurate and reliable. I use mine as a short to medium range SASS. Fixed stock and 20 inch barrel. Guaranteed 1 MOA but shoots well under. Got 1/4 inch group. KEEP ON PREPPING
@green98peon Glad you liked it. Check out the video's I loaded today after going to the range. I used some custom loads (168 grain) that a buddy made for me. Awesome results. I then retested using Lake City (good Army surplus ammo) and the spread and "flyers" were unbelievable. Looks like I'm gonna have to start loading my own ... the difference is TOO great not to use good ammo.
if that gun is 8.6 pounds it is not the varmit it is the predator hp. the varmit is 10.6 pounds

@sisk61 if it's a m1a then you are shooting a 308 but if it is a m1 grand then your shooting a 30-06 which has more recoil then the 308
