I know that, in Oregon, there are still a few search lights on the Oregon Trunk and on the line between Eugene and Portland but there are a lot between Sacramento and Eugene that have no evidence of being taken down anytime soon. So....roadtrip!??!??
The General Railway Signals ( GRS ) signals the BN put up are coming down too. There are some search lights in use in Minnesota on the Morris Sub when I was working up there.

Still some serch lights in use in Kansas on the up, but only 10 miles or so. (3 signals).

Searchlight are rarely being replaced on the BNSF. Union Pacific replaced tons of Searchlights on their routes
