  • I've watched very many of these shows now (thank you NorbertR33!) and I've come up with a list of my favourite women. Those who not only looked good but were charming, intelligent and funny too. Anyone like to share their own list?

    1. Hedy Lamaar

    2. Ava Gardner

    3. Debbie Reynolds

    4. Jeanne Crane (although I don't share her political outlook)

    5. Eva Marie Saint

    6. Lee Remick

    7. Gene Tierney

I can think of far fewer of today's stars about whom I feel the same way. Grumpy old man??

  • She's a peach. I found her a bit late, but find her quite intriguing. Quite a beauty!

  • Oh you fiend. haha

  • @weightfeather1 Didn't hear of here til I seen Leave her to Heaven, I will remember her for sure, she lost a couple of her children before she passed, yes an awesome talent!

  • Is she blonde? How would we the viewer at home know? haha, it's all black and white

  • @okonh0wp Usually, when they say they aren't blonde, they're redheads.

  • @okonh0wp If you would have seen any of her pictures you would have known she was one

of the most beautiful Red-heads to ever grace the Silver Screen.

  • it's kind of funny that the same winning panel, Bennett Cerf, asked the same question before identifying Jeanne both times she was on WML.

  • i heard of her the first time, because I just saw Pinky

  • @okonh0wp Beautiful film, wasn't it?

  • @estupido7490 I loved Pinky! I found it a very powerful great film, but it seemed to have some bad reception and criticism for casting Crain instead of an actual mulatto woman. I think it was better with Crain and I don't think white people would have watched it if it was a film starring black people. It wouldn't have hurt if they put her in a tanning bed or used some makeup trick to make her look a little darker. Kazan also said he didn't think Crain was necessarily a great actress, though

  • I'm sure that almost all of these "spectaculars" that are mentioned in WML segments were lost long ago, but I can hope ....

  • i still hate that the panel is so in tune with who is in town and why.and that the audience gives awy if girl.. and thus makes it almost obvius who it is.... this isnt really a game its just old school publicity...

  • I am a retired restauranteur in Laguna Beach, Ca. I have had the honor and privilege to have her son, Paul Brinkmann jr. and his family grace our establishment. They are such great people! I also exchange pleasantries with them at our local church each sunday.

  • @Soundexpert100 Man, you can say that again.

  • Didn't really like her character in Leave Her to Heaven, but she was stunning and very talented. I liked her best in Cheaper by the Dozen

  • Great to see her on this show! I watched my DVD of 1945's State Fair, and her singing in that Rogers and Hammerstein musical (remake of the 1933 Will Rogers' dramatic version) was dubbed and she had her singing dubbed in a few other musicals. She and her husband lived apart at the end of their marriage, from what I've read. Not a very happy marriage, sad to say..

  • what the heck made them so much better looking back then..the comparison is really stands out.

  • I love Jeanne Crain, she's SO beautiful. Her best film was Pinky, she was absolutely incredible.

  • Jeanne was wonderful. She was very married and very much a mother and would joke that it was difficult to keep her mind on the script when making films because she was thinking about things such as what would be for dinner at home that night. She had an impressive range as an actress; she could do high drama, great comedy, satire and musical roles. She also played a wide range of ages effectively. She also did a lot unusual films; she took chances.

  • Thank you for posting this, I love Jeanne Crain! She is so beautiful!

  • My name is Jeanne!!!

  • Ms. Crain is one of my favorite actress and a great person indeed. I've always identified her as the apotheosis of beauty and grace. God bless Jeanne!

  • As so many have noted before, actresses were just better looking back then - that smile at 2:04 - wow!

  • OMG Jeanne Crain ; 1 of the most beautiful Red-heads to ever grace the Silver Screen. She was incredibly beautiful , she's right there with Rhonda Fleming , Arlene Dahl and Maureen O'Hara , Rita Hayworth. The Top 5 Reds Hollywood has ever put out.

  • Haha! Jeanne is good!! Love that voice and the lady herself.. :D

  • That Betty Boop voice and her twitterpation for Richard Boone. Hysterical.

Ms Crain had a wide range from musicals to overheated dramas like Leave Her to Heaven to a daring drama titled Pinky about racial bigory and tolerance.
