It was in summer 2010 I was laying in bed with my girl and a thunder storm was kicking up. Lighting was flashing across the heavens and illuminating my room and we were listening to the quietstorm. This song played and it was the first time I had heard it, it felt so good and appropiate. I feel so lucky to have experienced such an enjoyable unplanned moment, that whenever I hear this beautiful song. I remember those great, great times!
YES THIS IS MY GENERATIONS MUSIC...the last era of blue print material 4 future generations 2 follow! Play this for your mate & it was on.. huge tune in the NYC... i can still see couples looking into each others eyes as they hold each other close.. you can feel the magic this awesome trax gave off... how i wish we old school lovers could time machine back towards the 70's ohh just 4 1 weekend.. not only would i enjoy the music.. i would be able to see family & friends who are no longer here :>)
I recall in "79 lying on the floor talking to my girl on the phone and this song came on the radio. We had never heard it before but it was so smooth that we just stopped talking and listened to the song together. After that I made my way over to her place and it was on...great song by Edwards and Rogers. They just don't do it like this anymore.... How could anyone dislike this song?
Is this not the best song ever. CHIC was different and their sound unique. This song especially speaks of what it is and I can envision being on a beach in the night with the moonlight and some wine. WOW!!!! I loved this song when it was hot in 1979 and I use to play the 33 record over and over again. I still have it. CHIC was the best in their short lived time as a group/band.
I 100% agree with this person on the State of Black Music today. I'm 52 yrs old and we all that grew up during the 1940's 50's 60's 70's and early 80's that had artists that new how to put you in the mood . Not today everything is loud , fast quick and artificial , No real instruments like back then. Everything is High tech. Instant like a mircowave. No Soul, no style Music today is lost just like the generation of today. So Sad in deed
Benny Goodman King of Swing was not at the time there were many blacks better than him. You just see why blacks freesia hair or rather, the case of Michael Jackson. Amy Winehouse? Shit .. Joss Stone sucks ... There are a lot better than these black white with black voice
The heart of any music is the melody;and in that blacks are very good, because if we go to see Elvis Presley was not king of anything. Blacks, are very good musically, the problem is that large consumers are western white then create idols and kings of bullshit, the so-called "conspiracy of silence", but that's little harsh sun.
In my top 5 songs of all time. A timeless classic, which has moved me every time I listen to it for the last 30 years. Simple, exquisite, and beautiful, a rolling melody evoking images of sea, sand and love. I remember being 15 and listening to the LP version through headphones. I was simply in another world, and it was a very pleasant place to be. Thank you Chic for making such a wonderful song.

I totally agree with your comment Charlie! In my own essence, this is music that I personnally allow to flow through my home. It help to cultivate the mood of relaxation and peace. Not to mention love.
@theladyjazziej , it's kind of sad isn't it? I was just listening to "Design a Nation" by Donald Byrd and that joint came out when I was 15 years old. Music was sooo much better back then.
@spoonie1980 Yeah, or on the lakefront! We used to carry around boom boxes and share the jams with everybody...couldn't do that now with all the foul language
Simples e deliciosa, causa nostalgia.. saudade dos amores que se foram e dos que não aconteceram. Hipnótica... puro mel.. chega a doer.
Used to listen to this track (and the whole album) in headphones: high school. No wonder these musicians are still praised today; some of whom worked behind the scenes and shaped music until the "money-style" overtook them. Thanks for the great sounding post -- sounds like surround sound -- Niiiice...
Back in the day, when I would make a cassette of slow jams, This was the first song on all of my tapes. I knew that once my lady heard the first few bars of this song, it was over. Clothes would come off and then...........well........I'll let you fill in the blank.
Bernard Edwards and Nile Rogers are musical icons. They wrote a lot of classic songs. Their arrangements were tight. They were successful as producers. Their contributions will last forever..
Come on now....can any one really resist this song, I mean..the begining notes of this song immediatly stops you in your tracks....suddenly your mind rewinds back in the day...the groove kicks in and that special someone has taken over your mind...you can't fight it....he or she has total control....."DON'T FIGHT IT" Just relax and reminisce.........can you feel it?........It would be ......so nice.....tonight........
My second favorite song....I remember when I was a Teenager....it was a hot summer night.....by accident.....I heard the song by Someone's window.....and went in a love daze....than, I came back to reality...when Someone was calling my name...I was like..."oh, wow! ...messed up the moment"...and went away..when the song was over.....it was one of best sweet moments to be in love...but..with..no Gentlemen....wow! Take Care.
@SuperStarman13 That happened to me once. It was a late summer's eve, I was in the Seattle library and had a question for the attractive female librarian. The moment our eyes locked time stood still. It was just the two of us in the whole wide world. The very air crackled. It was all over in a second but I'll remember it forever.
Nowadays the soul is blinded by the need for money. And you can't speak from the soul like this song when all that motivates you is money. These guys weren't in it for the money. It was a love of the medium and natural talent and also no need for fame.
chic pra sempre !! ,forever, inesquecivel !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, essa maravilha de musica aconteceu num momento da minha vida, que ficou gravado na minha memoria , e que, numca esqueci e ficará pra sempre, enquanto eu respirar....
@satchseven I agree. But I'm going to put this out there, the state of the BUSINESS of black radio is sad. There are some of these original bands still out that can't get their stuff on the radio. And there are good new bands out there that go thru the same thing. Support your local band trying to get out there. The radio/video outlets are operating on Payola on another level today.
I feel you on that! Back in the day we had beautiful music (a masterpiece now) such as this by Chic. Now we have just straight bufoonery, a mass of mindless bullshit, that passes for music today.
I mourn for the present-generation youth that don't have soft, slow, soulful, beautiful music to dance to, sit and cuddle by, or just simply veg out and enjoy listening to. Even in my own age-group (mid-30s) a lot of the music from my youth was lacking that same deep verve. Chic captured moods like this very well, and really did pioneer contemporary jazz and smooth jazz, as pointed out on another video.
The lack of truly beautiful music in today's society is mirrored in its ugliness as a whole.
@charlie8575 Damn u said a mouth full. It's the producers, back then they made music with substance. Now everything is rushed to get a hit to get paid....Sad. I won't waste a blue penney on this trash out today...Lol.
@charlie8575 What an incredibly true statement friend. I don't even listen to the cheap put together computer generated crap on the radio today. As a matter of fact, this tune takes me back to 1979 when I was a young marine stationed in Okinawa Japan. What a sweet era the 70's was.
@charlie8575 I'm 22 and i love Chic especially Savoir Faire, At Last I Am Free, Will You Hear This Song When You Cry, Everybody Dance, & My Feet Keep Dancing. I love all music from around this time and earlier!!! I scare my parents cause I know music they don't lol
I sample the beginning instrumental for this song me 'n my crew did in' 'n 'round 'bout 1995 for a song called "Chrome Relationships"...WHOA...um um um...it coulda been a "hip hop classic" if we had our heads on right 'n exact!!!
When I listen to this I see myself and chums sitting on a terrace above Sea Point in Cape Town sipping a chilled chenin blanc, and watching the sun dip into the Atlantic! Aah...the mood and the vibe! What a great piece of music! So evocative!
I can't account for the all the hours I've spent just zoning out in total darkness to this R&B gem. One of my favorite groups of alltime, the "CHIC Organization" was one of a kind, music will never be this good again, R.I.P. Bernard Edwards and Tony Thompson.
Man o man I did not know that chic did this one. hell I thought that the isley brothers crafted this one in 01. Wow bernard edwards and nilerodgers were some musical geniuses that cant be denied
songs like these are called "production pieces", where the music is far more important than the lyrics (their song "At Last I Am Free" is similar). Anyway, this song is so sexy that even the mighty Isley Brothers covered it.
Music to make love by... Items: 1 cute girl; 1 strand; 1 moonlight; 1 Berlucchi very cold. Operating: Turn on this song, light the moonlight, put the cute girl on the strand and open the bottle. Or, if you wish, put the bottle on the strand and open the girl... good luck!
How many y'all on this planet because this song was playing one night? :-)

songs like these are called "production pieces", where the music is far more important than the lyrics (their song "At Last I Am Free" is similar).

Or, if you wish, put the bottle on the strand and open the girl... good luck!
