  • I'm a 90s child, however I also remember my mum walking around the kitchen with boil in the bag fish xD and I LOVE angel delight!

  • I have to say that we would never have had boil in the bag fish, crispy pancakes and faggots all in one meal! it would have been one of those with something like boiled or mashed potatoes, peas or beans, so I think they were stretching it a bit, sadly makes you question how much they exaggerated other periods.. still I love this series its brilliant! thanks for posting... sue looks lovely as a 70's girl!

  • 3:15 ... evil glare ¬_¬

  • This series doesn't have quite the credibility it could do. It's focusing on archetypal food rather than the whole diet.

I wasn't around in the 70's but so many of the labels here are familiar to me.

  • @Naylte Well remember that they only have one week to cover an entire decade. Sticking to the more well known brands and icons is a really efficient way of doing it.

  • my parents actually suggested to me that if i wanted mashed potato whilst away at uni i should buy smash as they refused to buy me a potato masher, needless to say i bought myself a masher which is used most days

  • that's more or less what i eat now, with meat added

  • this is the funniest show ever, laught the whole thing - love you Sue!! :)

  • Lol grosssssssss Having been a teenager at that time I can tell you we did not eat like this ! heart attack in a bag ,tin erms

  • .... sue has to be a kink.

  • I wish I lived through the 70s get the disco dancing u can eat a lot and u won't get fat

  • I LOVE their sarcasm and descriptions of food, "eating baby food out of a hot slipper!" LOL for ages!

  • I would order Creme Brulee in a heartbeat!

  • SO nice to see a t.v programme as good as this in today's era

  • "Is this good?"

Giles looks around for restaurant staff & makes a face

  • can anyone tell me what all the sings are in this clip please

  • @errigallad34 kung fu fighting

  • Really enjoy this show. I know that the foods on offer were concidered normal for the time period BUT you cannot help saying WHAT WERE THEY THINKING SHOVING THAT DOWN THEIR THROAT.

  • I remember the generation game!! first with Bruce Forsyth then (slightly disappointingly) with Jim Davidson. It was the highlight of saturday night.

  • as a 90's kid i'm remembering 'chocolate' custard, pink custard and something they claimed was mint custard, served with skin. One truly memorable lunch at primary school was vegetarian sausages, which was pretty much baby food encased in a skin, I still have nightmares.

  • i was a 90's kid and the desserts that i can always remember having at school were chocolate crunch with pink 'sauce' and cornflake tart.... both nostalgic, thinking about it now, both rather ewwww!

  • @dinosawrusgoRAWR same!!! wow litrally those were my school dinners! :D

  • i had remember chocolate sponge with chocolate custard but sometimes we had pink custard which was horrible and back then school dinners where horrible really bad as a school child of the late 80's and the early 90's

  • Sorry, Is it just me who thinks sue looks like Jennifer Saunders with that long hair?

  • I love how Giles grows his facial hair to fit each time period.

  • OH MY GOD! I want to civil partnership sue and have lots of lesbian babies with her!

  • Them going to the school was adorable.

  • sue's scowl when giles' said there was no fizz was priceless XD

  • Is anyone else busting a gut at the voice listing the foods?

  • Ahh, those little girls were so cute ^^

Mmm, lolly bracelets, Fads and sherbet (as well as Ovalteenies, Curly Wurlys, Pez and Hubba Bubba bubblegum)...Primary school days again =)

  • This bring back memories... and I grew up in the 90s...

  • Being a kid in the nineties in Australia we had alot of the same lollies. Fags though had their name changed to 'Fads' lol, to be politically correct. They were still encouraging smoking in kids though! Apparently earlier, in the seventies I suppose, ciggie companies paid good money to get Fags to make their box look like their boxes. So in a few years when the kid buys their first pack o smokes they see the familiar pack and of course, buy it for the rest of their lives or until quitting

  • People look, here in england we have a food called faggots. As you can clearly see, sue did not pull a gay man out of that small box. Faggots are made of pork, onions and god knows what else. They are an OK food. Personally i don't like them unless they have Tabasco or something spicy on them as this is the only time you'll get any flavour from them.

  • its weird, im a 90s baby but we still had the spongecake with shitloads of custard, and the bracelets and the chocolate cigarrettes and the tom and jerry ones.... weird...i dont know what the little kids have these days tho

  • Chocolate custard with the skin on. Oh yes. Exactly.

  • I love the way the school lunch wasn't just mashed potatoes it was 'lumpy mashed potatoes' lol x

  • Chocolate sponge and custard ruled, can never make it like schools did though

  • @klub1uk I got pink custard at school!

  • LOL faggots are like an english version of haggis, only smaller and served in "gravy"

  • wtf is a PORK FAGGOT??????

  • I remember chocolate sponge ... it was AWESOME.

  • Sue is awesome with kids. I would have loved ot have her babysit me...if I was like 13 and she wasn't famous....Ok I'm going to stop indulging in lesbian fantasies.

  • @daisiegurl SAME! lol my dad got it for christmas and he was so proud LOL mum was like........0_o

  • I still have a soda stream! But it actually works...

  • What are faggots in the British vernacular?

  • @schoolgirlmaro Balls of meat made with scrag ends and off cuts and offal. Yum :ol

  • Sue looks great! As if she wasn't amazing enough already :D

I adore this series, enlightening and bloody hilarious...thanks for uploading!

  • loooooove Sue's purple coat!

  • I love their analogies. "That's like eating baby food out of a hot slipper"

  • Pork faggots! Pork faggots. Pork FAGGOTS. Savoury faggots for all!

  • We had both chocolate and bubble gum cigarettes when I was a kid in the ninetys. The gum had powdered sugar around it so if you blew it looked like smoke.

  • Faggots? Wow, definitely a culture clash there lol

  • @dunnowy123 Yes we eat faggots. HOW American's and Canadians turned it into a derogatory word i don't know.

  • @SinclairisCool I'm American and I've always wondered about how it turned into that too...after all it was originally a word for firewood.

  • @AngelusSpkGrrl

It just doesn't make any sense.

  • We used to have one of those Soda Streams when I was a kid...that bang was like a gunshot, and you damn near wet yourself every time.

And yep, the drinks always came out flat.

  • Duck l'orange deniers!

  • whats that song at 2:14

  • @700694 Daddy Cool by Boney M.

  • @Kungakucha faggots in Britain are a food stuff. They are made from pork and are usually served with peas and gravy. As the person who replied to you originally said it is an old farmers recipe. For some reason the Americans turned it into a derogatory term. They seem to be good at that.

  • I was a late 90s- 2000s child and used to love those hubba bubba gums. They were delicious. I also fondly remember the choc cigs and red chewing gum :).

Giles and sue are my aphrodisiac . I love Sue. She's fab :D.

  • MR BRAIN'S FAGGOTS easily the funniest food name ever.

  • ...wth is pork faggots? DDDD:

  • I still buy Sherbert Fountains! And that's in Australia! So freaking awesome!

  • Obviously the 70s in the UK were far different foodwise from the USA. Liver and bacon for lunch at school?! Not to mention actual vegetables like potatoes and cabbage? Not likely, that was the sort of thing we got for dinner at home. No, it was stuff like spaghetti and on Fridays horrible flat pizzas with added flies. School food was so horrible only the unlucky kids bought lunch.

  • I remember getting chocolate cigarettes around 1995... they were revolting!! I'm a non-smoker btw.

  • wow, their school lunches are a lot better than the ones in America; we usually get served fries and chicken strips every day

  • i had all those sweets as a 90s child: those exact choc cigarettes, bubble gum, sherbert fountain...never had gold nuggets though :D

  • I love how hyper Giles and Sue got in the candy store... "GOLD NUGGETS!!!" ... so cute!

  • spurs head for glory.... was a long time ago HA HA

  • The music in this episode is so great. I'm 20 but I've been listening to music from the 70s my whole life. :D

  • So many cocktails its like the University Student diet I actually have a very seventies lifestyle.

  • this is a real tv show better than so many others they should try international past times of food

  • FAGGOTS???

  • @KangaKucha The term or food faggot comes from a very old farmers recipe and while the term faggot has been lost it is supposed to be a reference to a part of the pigs organs. Apparently the kidneys in the UK faggot is a foodstuff it is unknown how the americans picked it up to do with homosexuality.

  • @SteveeAlbino scots got the haggots, so i guess the scots are hags and the english are fags. :)

  • im LOVIN those deserts! and OMG the sweet shop! YUM!....sue looks fab fab fab with that long hair! This show is hilarious, only the 2nd times i've seen it and im lovin it!

  • i am 18 and the school lunches were so similar and and I love teh old sweets in jars

  • So glad these FULL videos are on here, Good Food channel has cut them >:(

  • HAHAHA!!!! 6 Pork Faggots!

  • Why are they wearing shoes in the house?! *nearly hyperventilates* Sorry, I live in Finland and we so never do that here...I mean, the house just looks so clean and 70's-tastic, but they'll get the floors and the shag carpets all dirty...

  • @MirakelRakel We English dont walk around our own houses in shoes, Mirakel. Guests ,naturally, can. Thats what doormats are for.

Its just Giles maintaining his reputation as a slob.

  • Candy shop they acted like they where 9

  • Whooo! Mr Brain's Pork Faggots. I saw them in the supermarket yesterday! I've never known anybody that buys them except my uncle but good to know these things are still available if you're so inclined.

  • 6 PORK FAGGOTS ON A WEST COUNTRY SAUCE!!

  • Wouldn't they be watching Monty Python?

  • The music in this episode is amazing. :)

  • Maggie Thatcher milk snatcher! In Scotland we still got free milk up to 1979 in tiny glass bottles and usually warm.

  • PORK FAGGOTS? WHAT? hahaha.

  • @2MinutesToMidnightt A common, and disgusting food in the UK.. get with it

  • @2MinutesToMidnightt

A common and boring food in the UK.

    Do keep up.

  • I laughed myself silly at the overgrown kids in the candy store. ;-)

  • i was born in the 90's and my mum made boil in the bag fish yum yum!

  • Is it me or is Giles flirting with Sue more than usual?

I'm loving seeing all these old school food products! I miss crispy pancakes and Brain's faggots.

  • @Idunsdottir They still sell faggots at my local Tesco...

  • Its true what giles says about the chocolate sponge and chocolate custard being more "Grey",I remember it like yesterday at my "Community college" that desert was very wishy washy and grey!! They were obviously very tight on the chocolate powder,we never complained though it was great!

  • I remember most of those candies and I'm born in 88 o_O I guess it took 15 years for them to travel to Finland.

  • i love sue's boots and coat and giles leather jacket

  • Sue looks really good with long hair

  • Is it just me?

Or in 2:18 does it say "Pork Faggots"?

  • @JoStineHo Yes, it's like pork burgers but with not much meat in them.

  • Yes we do have a meat product in the UK called Faggots, they come in there own gravy,

  • @JoStineHo Yep, they're not given a second glance in the UK, they're in every major supermarket.

(Ever had a faggot sandwich? Yum :))

  • Lol am I the only person who doesn't like smash and angel delight??

  • @Twigs47 Well I hate smash...but I love angel delight, so I'm only half with you!

  • We've still got my mum's SodaStream from the 70s, it kicks ass.

  • ooooooohh god i remember custard with the skin on!!!!!! it made me gag everytime.yuck

  • I hated infant school dinners in the late 80s/early 90s~ boiled sprots, cabbage and greasy vile meat!!!! Ugh!!! The puds were good though

  • i remember school dinners too from the late 80s to early 90's too, and i remember things like really lumpy mash potatoe, and the worst was the rice pudding it was the worst thing i

  • is that a wig or hair extensions?

  • 'That's the taste of my childhood'

'That's the taste of my shoes...' ! Brilliant.

  • Look at Giles! He's like a kid in a swee- Oh wait...

  • sue looks absolutely smashing in long hair

  • @legacy0100 She's smoking! haha

  • those puddings were the exact type of thing we had at school dinners in primary school, and that wasn't that long ago

  • *gasp* butterscotch angel delight! i haven't had that in ages!

  • Those shoes are replusive.

  • school dinners were still like this til the 90s! minus the liver but still they were vile!

  • yep thx. funny show
