The engines always blew their head gasket after 80,000 miles. I should know we had 3 that died that way. In order they were: 1985 Plymouth Reliant SE, 1985 Dodge Daytona and 1993 Dodge Shadow America.
Well once your car smokes a bit you should know the head gasket is going. It's a cheap fix if you do it yourself. These engines last a long damn time if you take care of them. To have 3 engines die because you drove them around with no head gasket is your fault or whoever was driving them at the time.
and this is why i hate the 80's! great music but the cars were ugly as hell! and i mean everyones cars! yes i mean ferrari and lamborghinis they were how you say boxy!
I gotta sit back and laugh at seeing these old cars being advertised as new... but then again 1986 was probably among the high points in Chrysler and American car history with the changes they made under Iacocca.
@bliglum Idiot. Do some research and see how much more fuel efficient and faster things like the Daytona or GLHS were compared to the Camaros and Mustangs with their big V8s that were left in the dust by a 4 Popper with a turbo.
@rokmongo Dude, the early 80's mustang used a turbo 4 as well. It was known as the turbo GT.. And even dodge themselves knew they went to shit in the 80's, which is why by the early 90's they were calling themselves "the new dodge"... Idiot.
@bliglum I never said they didn't use them you dirty fuck hole. Go buy a fucking clue. Yeah, no other company has ever said anything like "The New Era" or something like "The New GM" trying to advertise new products. You're right, it couldn't have been for marketing purposes. Your 145HP Turbo 4cyl Stang is a P.O.S. and trust me, I know more about this shit than you ya wannabe. Want an education? Send me a private message, I'll do if for free, just to make the world a smarter place. Bye baby boy
@rokmongo WOW!!! LOL, No, dodge is in fact not the first company in history to try to reinvent themselves, I knew that. And you can kiss Chrysler's ass all you want, but it's not going to change the fact they they've made alot of shitty cars in the past 3 decades. There were some greats as well, Viper is one of the all time great cars.. but most of them were crap. And what were you going to school me in? How to be ass? or maybe a douche bag. The worlds got ya beat there bub.
actually the chrysler and ford products were pretty good looking in the 80s. I love the omni charger body style. Except for thier rear drivers Gms cars in the 80s were ugly.
If because you had bad times with one car back in 84 LOL and that is your reason for not owning a Chrysler ever again. Your insane!!!. Anyways those cars were awesome and looked good for their time.
Dodge had alot of different ideas about how to sell a car. I think the Dodge Boys was a group of young teens, who love power. It was a marketing campaign to get your Americans to buy Dodges and be cool like the Dodge boys. If you Google Dodge boys today, Dodge has a official site but now its for their nascar division.
So what? Why does that make it defensible? Do we use old ad campaigns from the 80s now? Very little if any. As for Dodge Brothers, how does that sell cars? Chevrolet was founded by a French race car driver, is that fact going to somehow sell Chevys now, especially considering almost no one knows that?
Why are you so defensive anyway? Who are you, Lee Iacocca?
You are the one that said Dodge boys Wtf learn some history and then the commercial would make sense. I never suggested using Dodge brothers I said the company was originally named Dodge brothers. And No I am not lee I acocca hes responsiible for burning all those people up with Pintos.
I owned a LeBaron Turbo, similar to the Lancer pictured. When it worked, it was a very enjoyable car, but it was completely underengineered. Absolute horrible reliability. I'll never own another Chrysler.
Its sad that chrysler keeps getting fucked over by their owners. Damiler! hopefully fiat dont fuck them

@dobadriver Well we were only planing to keep them until they died, still they were good cars, but it's not good to fall in love with every car.
